Easily one of the worst restaurants that I've dined at in a very very long time!! I ordered the Thai salad and received a hot noodle dish with mushy shrimp, big onions and mushy tomatoes!! I pointed out to the waitress that I ordered a salad and even verified that it was a salad by asking what kind of lettuce was used and everything!! But I somehow got something else?? When i say she was mad that i sent it back!! If there's one thing that I can not stand!!! Is when we're all speaking English and to have the two ladies start yelling, gesturing, and pointing towards me speaking in another language!! I have been going to Thai BBq well over 30 years and I have to say Carson was one I never really went to, until now. Walking in to this restaurant everything is bright (even though I'm not a fan of bright), food is exceptional, and the service was fantastic. They have one of those Thai scooter things that I saw people taking pictures with, maybe I'll get one next time. Something about Thai BBqs Thai Tea that is better than other Thai restaurants (Pro Tip get extra milk a waitresses at Hollywood Thai BBq suggested that and I've been hooked ever since) and you can not go wrong with S-8 BEEF. This was our first time at Thai BBQ in Carson and let me tell you, the 2 star rating is accurate. We waked in around 7:45pm -- Yelp, Google and the signage say the restaurant closes at 9pm. Upon arrival we are greeted with a painful smile from what I am assuming is the server. He says, with 5 menus in hand, "Hi we actually close the kitchen at 8:30 and I just sat this table of 5 down so it's going to be at least 40-45 minutes because I'm going to have to take their orders and then finish up with these two tables so yeah by then the kitchen will be closed." Keep in mind that party had walked in seconds before us. I said "Got it. Turned to my husband and said let's go!" The server then let out a huge sigh of relief. We were surprised as there were only two other tables occupied. One was a couple and the other was a table of 3. It was a HORRIBLE first impression and I won't give this place a second try. I am not interested in going somewhere that doesn't care for clientele. I have gone to the location in LA and I would go back there but this Carson location-- NEVER AGAIN. When I was younger I used to eat at the location in Korea town but have since moved. The foods stayed pretty much the same, I usually stick with the beef sate (S-8) which is always delicious. Recently the Carson location went under renovation and it's definitely made the restaurant feel more modern, though I'm a little sad about the fishes moving lol. First and foremost, I have eaten the Thai Original BBQ plenty of times and I'm a fan favorite of their S-8 Beef Sate, until today. I have never left a Yelp review for as long as I've used this application. But after this experience today, I want to not only leave a review but also give you a fair warning to not eat at this specific location. Walking into the restaurant alone raised all the red flags. The dining area looked grim, unsanitary and honestly felt like the home of a dead person. Customer service was terrible. Mind you this is a pick up order, so thankfully I didn't experience dining in. But when I got home... I unpack the bag and it's in the normal plastic container the food is usually in. I open the lid to my once favorite S-8 beef sate and with it usually comes the peanut sauce, that's tasty, especially on the rice. But when I opened the peanut sauce, it looked like this mucus like substance with a thick texture to it. Not to be graphic, but it looked like someone's saliva. Either this sauce was expired for the day or someone tampered with my order. Didn't even bother trying to taste it. I would give this place zero stars, if I could. This place is kind of interesting, it is a Thai restaurant that has a slight Filipino spin on the food!? I think it's because there is more Filipino people who come here than Thai, I find this to be true also for the Cerritos sister location. The Cerritos location is definitely much better than here though in terms of food quality and ambience. I like the S2 option-the ribs are tender, juicy and goes well with the sweet chilli dipping sauce. The fried rice is nothing amazing, pretty simple but goes well with the meat. The S1 option is also good if you don't eat red meat-the chicken is not too dry and well-seasoned. Whatever you do, don't get the pad thai because it is not the best as it was way too saucy! The service is pretty quick and efficient. The inside is not the cleanest and newest though. Come here if you want quick and okay quality thai food. read more
