You have got to be kidding me...this is NOT authentic Thai food. It's also extremely overpriced. I ordered my favorite Thai dish (laab tofu) that I have eaten at countless restaurants across different geographies, and this one was a total miss. Plus, I'm pretty sure despite my emphasis that I am allergic and could not have shellfish, there was some type of fish product in my food (having to use an epi-pen is always a good indicator). Huge portions, good food and great packing for a to go order! We were in the area and my husband and I have been craving Thai food for a while. I have my favorite spots in Scottsdale but not in Phoenix, so I checked what's around us on Yelp and found Thai Recipe Bistro with good reviews so we decided to try it. We drove there and saw that the sign said "Open" so we parked outside to look at the menu (we weren't sure they were gonna be open because it was a public holiday). The first thing that caught my attention when I looked at the menu was the prices. I was surprised that all the noodle plates are above $16 each! Thought that was quite expensive. Nevertheless we were willing to give them a try. They had so many appetizer options so we kept going back and forth on what we wanted to order, eventually deciding on the House Combination which as the name suggests, is a combination of a number of different appetizers. This was priced at around $15+. So I called and placed the order over the phone to pick up. I ordered a mild chicken Pad Thai for myself, and a mild+ Beef Pad Se Ew for my husband (2 spice level) and the house combination. I asked whether there were any pork appetizers in the combination and the lady on the phone checked with the kitchen and they said no (their potstickers are made with chicken). $44, ready in 20 min. We let them know we were parked outside. Just before the 20 min were over, my husband went in to pay and grab the food. The lady was about to walk out to us already. So with tip, the amount came out to $52+. Not too bad. We went somewhere close to eat in car. The first thing I was impressed with was the way the packed the food in the bag. The boxes were double bagged with one upside down and one in the right position. I thought that was clever because it held the boxes in place and even if they spilled while we're driving, they wouldn't have spilled outside. The second thing was that the appetizer box was on top. Not a big thing but you're in the car with so many boxes and limited space, every little thing counts! So we started with the appetizer. It had fried Thai veggie rolls, crab puffs, siamese samosas, chicken satay, chicken potstickers and fried tofu. All served with the accompanying sauce (4 sauces). Everything was delicious! My favorite was the chicken satay! It was bursting with flavor!! My second favorite was the crab puffs, so smooth and tasty. My least favorite was the fried tofu. It was dry and in any case, I'm not a big fan of tofu. We didn't finish all the appetizers because we would have been so full but my husband and I both tried at least one of each. Then we dug into our dishes. The first thing that surprised us was the generous portion! Had we known it would be that big, we would have shared one or got 1 appetizer only. My pad Thai had a lemon wedge and peanuts on top as well as the bean sprouts. The flavor was pretty good but it was again a little dry (we only drove for 2 minutes before we ate so time was not a factor here). I took a bite from my husband's dish and I thought his tasted a bit better. Still my dish was pretty good. I finished only a third of it. My husband was able to finish about half. They both were served with chili paste on the side which I love with all my noodle Thai dishes. Overall, very good food. My husband said, the restaurant was spotless and very clean. It was absolutely empty so maybe we should have eaten there? They are open for dine in by the way. A good option in the area that's definitely worth trying. Try to ask for a half portion if you're not very hungry; this might be an option because while uploading the photos of the noodle dishes, Yelp was giving me the option to choose 1/2 a tray! read more

Very nice but sparce servers. Food was good but what I could eat was limited as ALL of the sauces are filled with sugar. I was happy they were honest but he said the cooks are Mexican not Thai and to go to Wild Tiger if you want Thai cooks from scratch that his cooks here just follow the recipe. I was able to have a jasmine tea and fresh rolls with no sauce. Literally nothing else with out sugar aside from steamed rice. read more

Absolutely delicious! I had the pad see ew and my boyfriend and I split a chicken yellow curry dish. They were both phenomenal! I think we might have found our new favorite Thai food that is reasonably priced. Only thing was that they were slightly understaffed but that's not something they can really help. I've dined during a slow weekday afternoon, a busy Saturday night, and even for takeout; the quality always remains top-notch. THIS PLACE WAS SO DELICIOUS! The service was amazing - Everyone was so kind to us. Food came out quick and the place was very clean. I got the yellow curry and my boyfriend got the garlic chicken (not pictured). We both absolutely loved our food and got full very quick. The chicken wings were AMAZING! The sauce was perfect - not too overwhelming, taste was just right. We always judge a Thai place by their chicken satay and Thai Recipe Bistro's passed the test! So delicious, tender and flavorful! The peanut sauce and pickled vegetables that came with it were very yummy. I enjoyed the After Sunset drink, which is made with tequila and passionfruit. No, but seriously, shoutout to all the staff that was working there when we visited. They were so kind and tended to us consistently throughout our lunch. Here's a delightful place I tried recently that my Yelp friends should try. Let's get started: First things first the seats are wide and sturdy enough to handle wide bodies like mine. They have half booths with enough space between tables that you can move through without your butt and belly touching the other tables. IYKYK. The restaurant is well lighted and great for people watching. It's a small place without feeling small. The food: every dish I've had has been tasty, but my favourite is any dish with the ginger seasoning. The flavours are bright and well seasoned although I found the spice levels not as spicy as I thought. Let me add a disclaimer here- if I'm not sweating or sniffing when I'm eating spicy foods, it's not spicy enough. So if you want a lot of spice, order the level 5, all the other levels are weak. Also, the dinner portions are huge so bring a friend or you'll have leftovers for days! The reason it's not a higher rating? You are charged $3 for extra peanut sauce. Enjoy yourselves! read more

Great moderately-Americanized Thai food! I went in with a low expectation after seeing that they put carrots and broccoli in their Pad Se Ew and Rad Nar instead of Chinese broccoli. To make things worse, we were automatically offered chopsticks, which is a big red flag since Thais eat almost all their dishes with a spoon and a fork (and use chopsticks ONLY with boat noodles). However, this place did impress me with the flavors and quality of their food. We ordered Rad Nar and Pad Thai. The noodles in Rad Nar were perfectly stir-fried with dark soy sauce, and the gravy was delicious. Their Pad Thai, despite being quite Americanized, has a good mix of flavors where sweetness does not dominate. Also, the portions are humongous! Our server was very attentive and friendly. I would definitely go back for great Thai good. However, if I want truly authentic food and experience, there are several other places in the valley that better deliver that. read more

We have been loyal patrons of this establishment for a while, brought friends, but last night was the last... First of it was so cold, most of the people were shivering, some were even eating with sweatshirts and hoodies on.... I typically could have restaurants a second chance if they are not up to par however when I wanted to take my soup home, I literally had to argue with the waitress that the container they were giving us was way too small. She said well if you need to I'll give you two rather than the large container that is typically given for takeout soups.... So we went along with her suggestion, and the soup spilled all over the table.... When I asked you why we couldn't have gotten a larger container to begin with, she arrogantly said well I told you I would give you two if you needed it.... This was so offensive and inappropriate. I just hope that the staff has read this and maybe learned from it as far as what good customer service is really about. read more
