A bit pricey but it is a big plate so I guess that's fair. The steak is good but it's overcooked, steak (especially ribeye) should definitely be more pink n juicy. It would slap so much better if it wasn't fully cooked, I'm kinda salty about this lol, Also wish there was more sides besides the Mac salad. It's good though. 7.7/10 read more

One of my favorite spots for Hawaiin bbq. Everything I've had here has been top notch. This is a family run business so you know the food is made with love. I've literally followed them to every location they've been but I believe they've found their home at the Churchill. Food can take anywhere from 10-20 minutes so we usually order in advance online so it's ready when we arrive. There's plenty of other options for drinks and a nice ambiance to eat your meal near by at the Churchill location. Definitely come before closing time because they do sell out from time to time. read more

I ordered the chicken teriyaki and received a very generous portion that was flavorful and tender. My daughter had the chicken Katsu and she enjoyed it very much. They give plenty of dipping sauce. My friend and I decided to try some Hawaiian food :D ! We actually found this place in this cute little nook that was similar to a market. There were other food stands we wanted to try too. Food came out quite fast and it was really good! It's a little pricey but for the amount you get, and considering it's in downtime, it's not too bad. We were surprised that the meal came with two chickens! Only dislike was the Mac salad. We both assumed it would be Mac & cheese but it was not. We also thought there would be more rice. I tried Loco Grindz Hawaiian BBQ in Phoenix, and overall it was a great experience! The Garlic Chicken was hands down my favorite, super flavorful, tender, and perfectly cooked. The portions are generous, so while the food is on the pricier side, it's definitely worth it for the amount and quality you get. Vibe was great. A lot of available seating. I ordered the kalbi plate, which comes with two sides of rice and a mac salad. The kalbi was tender with a nice smoky, sweet flavor. The mac salad leaned more savory and tangy instead of sweet, which I still enjoyed. I also tried the chicken katsu, and the panko crust was crunchy and well-seasoned. Ordering through the window screen was easy, and the staff was really nice. The portions were solid overall. It's hard to find good Hawaiian food on the mainland (especially Arizona) but this place does it really well! So happy it's got a permanent home in the Churchill because it's a great area to just chill, have a beer and have some bomb food. We got the garlic chicken and the korean style galbi which was so delicious. The chicken was super crispy and tossed in sauce with lots of additional chopped garlic. I'm definitely a garlic girl, so I really enjoyed the different garlic flavors. It can be overwhelming for those that aren't the biggest garlic fans but it was perfect for me. The galbi, however, kind of fell short. It was pretty charred and had a strong burnt flavor. The marinade was good, but it was hard to detect because of the burnt taste. The POG juice was yummy as always, the passion fruit, orange, and guava juice combination just can't be beat! read more

It's located in an outdoor eatery called the Churchill. There's a lot of shade a ton of seating. The employees were kind and helpful while ordering. I stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon, asked what their favorite dish would be. In response it was between the Garlic chicken and the Teriyaki steak. I love Teriyaki but I am definitely a garlic girl through and through. For drinks they had two options, I went with the P.O.G, which was a passion fruit orange juice and guava mix I believe. The drink was delicious and refreshing. Hawaiian eats can be very filling and Loco Style Grindz got it to a T; with the Mac salad, rice and a huge serving of protein. The garlic chicken was fried but extremely juicy on the inside. I loved it, Mac salad was delicious and you can never go wrong with rice. I left extremely satisfied and with half of my order for later. I hope I can try their loco moco before I leave. It wasn't in stock today :-( Overall great experience! read more

The Churchill s location is excellent. Off Roosevelt. Finding parking can be a bit challenging so bring your extra patience for this task. Excellent place to eat with a group of friends since The Churchill has various food places. We enjoyed our food and drinks. Even though is august in Phoenix the mists kept it pretty cool. Will return to try the other food places. I love supporting our local peeps. Bathrooms are available and they are kept clean. Baby changing stations are also available. Very disappointed with what was one of our favorite spots. The service here is just rude. If an error occurs on the ordering kiosk, they act like it's an inconvenience to help you, even though the woman is sitting directly in front of you on her phone. We ordered one without action sauce, and yet, both had action sauce. One of the 5 pieces of chicken in my order, had zero meat and was all fried carcass and skin. Gross. This is Phoenix's best kept secret. I love Ono's Hawaiian BBQ but this place takes it to the next level. The quality of meat and the charcoal or mesquite (not sure) they use is where the flavor is at. Cooked perfectly; the side macaroni salad and white rice with sweet teriyaki sauce is delicious as well. This food is priced accordingly based on the quality of meat. It's worth it. I had a 3 meat plate - garlic chicken, ribeye steak, and Korean short rib all with sauce. I didn't realize the chicken would be fried. I tried it after I got back to my car. The garlic flavor is intense and deeelishus! I tried to drive home with it, but I live far. I kept nibbling at the food on the drive. I only had Korean short rib, rice, and macaroni remaining by the time I got home. I woke up the next morning with garlic coming thru my pores. I was ready to drive back to downtown just for that meal again (forgetting that I dislike going downtown). The Churchill is a cool little place. It's my first time at loco style Grindz. My initial thoughts were the food is pricy and I wish there was someone at the register. But it's ok, I've been to places where you order on a kiosk. When they gave me my plate and I picked it up I was like woah! This is a lot of food!!! So the amount of food is worth the price. I'm not going to exaggerate, a plate is good enough for 2-3 ppl, maybe 4! Then I tried the garlic chicken & I was glad I got it! It's 5/5! It's nicely breaded, super crispy, and it has a hint of teriyaki. I'm glad I got it because no other Hawaiian bbq place I been to offers it. They put the rice underneath it so the rice absorbs the flavor as well. The spicy mayo isn't spicy so try it and the teriyaki chicken is also delicious!!! read more

Wow this place is incredible. I got the two entree two side meal and I was blown away. It is a bit pricey, my total was $28. The meat was fairly good, I got the teriyaki chicken and steak with two sides of rice & action sauce. There were maybe 3 or 4 pieces of steak that had gristle in them so that was a bit disappointing considering the price. The meat was cooked to perfection otherwise. All very flavorful. Big portions! I heard about this place on ig and decided to check it out this past first Fridays. I got the three entree combo with galbi, chicken katsu, and chicken teriyaki. It came with mac salad and rice and I also got the spicy mayo on top. It's a must! It was kinda pricey. The galbi is an extra $1.50 and the three entree was $19.99 It was a lot of food perfect for 2 people. This place is inside the church hill. We have tried to come and eat at this restaurant multiple times. The first time we took the light rail from Tempe into Phoenix during the sweltering heat only to be met with annoyed employees saying they were closed. It was the middle of the week around Midday. Churchill itself was bustling and lively. We assumed that day that they were closed due to extenuating circumstances or SOMETHING because they gave no reason when we asked why they were closed, when their hours said they were supposed to be open. The second time attempting to visit was Father's Day (Sunday). We stopped by well before closing and yet again... CLOSED. After these two happenings we will definitely not be supporting this business. It is unrealistic to have inconsistent hours and not say anything about it through their social media presence. Which just so happens to be how we found out about them in the first place. If you ever find yourself visiting Churchill try out Stoop Kid instead! Their food was delicious and very satisfying after the disappointment of an experience with Loco Style Grindz. read more

This is my go to place for Hawaiian style food when im downtown, food is great! Portion sizes are significant which reflect in price, positive there! Customer service interactions are cool the workers are nice. BUTTTTTTT the only reason for a four star is not that im trying to be a Karen or a boomer but I would rather like to see PPE being used by staff members and I would also not like to see the staff vaping behind the counter. I understand that its a late night grub spot but still some decency would be cool. Otherwise would still eat here any day. Most delicious Hawaiian food we've ever had!! My kids loved it can't wait to go back. Service was great as well which is always a plus.

If you're a new comer to Loco Stylez (as in you started eating here after they moved to The Churchill) then you will truly never know how good these guys' food used to actually be. They used to have a nice location at the Ranch Market where they actually grilled the food FRESH to order on a massive outdoor grill. You could smell the smoke upon entrance. I used to be in my car groaning with each bite of their beautifully seared ribeye steak. The food was also cheaper! 1 plate of meat, rice and mac was $13. Despite my prior annoyances with these guys (never adhering to business hours due to running out of food, no way to contact them to avoid wasting a drive, etc) it was still worth it. They are currently a shell of their former selves. The meats are no longer chargrilled. They are cooked on a griddle and placed in warmers [This is equivalent to going from smoking your wings to now baking them indoors then reducing the oven to 100 degrees to keep them warm]. You arrive, place your order with a rude cashier and retrieve your luke-warm food at a higher price point ($21 for 1 plate of meat, rice and mac). You can't even request your meat well done anymore as they would have to retrieve it from the warmer and place it back on the griddle which they hate to do. Last time I came here i couldn't finish the mid food. I ended up going next door to Freak bros pizza and getting a pepperoni pie with hot honey. So Listen here: You can easily make this Churchill version of loco stylez' food at home. Tenderize/flatten some ribeye steak then marinate it with Yoshidas teriyaki sauce. Broil on high using a cast iron pan or baking rack. OR grill it outside on a chargriller if you want the Ranch Market version of loco stylez. Slice into strips. Pressure cook some jasmine rice. Voila. Finish off the plate with some Japanese Yum Yum Sauce (same thing as their action sauce). If you want chicken then switch out the steak for skinless chicken thighs and rinse/repeat the steps. Thank me later. If you're a newcomer....of course then.... ignore this and enjoy as you are unburdened by what has been! read more

BROKE DA MOUT This is reminiscent of real island food. The flavor and authenticity is as if you went to a little food shop or food truck in Hawaii. They happened to be sold out of everything but chicken items by the time I arrived. OH NO! SOOOO... I ended up getting the Chicken Katsu. ONO! This was not a bad thing. In fact, it was delicious. Getting the Chicken Katsu was no consolation. CHICKEN KATSU- The meat was tender and juicy and perfectly crispy. Good meat to breading ratio. Comes with katsu sauce but you can either order it with or without Action Sauce which is like a mildly spicy Aioli POTATO MAC SALAD- you are used to Mac salad or potato salad but it's a mash-up of both and I like that. It was cool and refreshing despite it being heavy. But not overly salted or spiced. This spot feels like more of a pop up restaurant with their limited hours. So you have to get it while you can. I want to start this review by saying I've been coming to Locos for years! From the Ranch Market, AZ Mills mall , pop up events at Many Worlds, to the international market in Mesa, and finally a solidified spot at the Churchill; I am a loyal Loco customer! Through all the changes in space and staff they ALWAYS keep the culture and food true it's original DNA (getting better year by year). Since they've been at the Churchill, I've gone there at least once a week, sometimes I'll hit Taco Tuesday and then come back for a platter later in the week. I think it's good To try new food spots, but sometimes they are let downs. With locos, I know I'm getting a fat ass plate that feels like 2 pounds of food when I lift the box. As an artist in Phoenix, Ive accomplished a lot and I can say that each time I achieve something great my "victory meal" is always at locos. Those people work f***king hard, and it shows with the food. It's always given with love no matter how busy, or hot they get in that kitchen. At this point, EVERYONE at my job goes to locos because I put them on. Today I went and picked up a plate for my co-worker, not knowing that another co-worker went earlier in the day!
