You actually get a 1/2 egg included, which is becoming rare these days. The karaage (fried chicken) isn't the crispiest I've ever had but it is really flavorful and tender. The marinating and using boneless chicken thighs lends itself to having those two traits. Service is generally friendly and prompt. The area inside is a little dark, and uses artificial lighting to stay somewhat bright, but it's fine. This is a less cramped space than the Brookline location and since it's in a strip mall, there's parking. The area is rather devoid of ramen shops, so this was a much-welcomed addition.

This was always a place we wanted to try, but still quite out the way where we haven't bit the bullet. When my birthday was right around the corner, we thought, what perfect time! Well, my birthday ended up being pretty busy so we pushed this off a couple of months for a special date night. I saw online that there were only a few private honeycomb seats, and since this was the whole appeal for us, I wanted to make sure we got one of those cool tables. I ended up calling them a week ahead to make a reservation, specifically for a honeycomb seat. They informed me that they cannot guarantee it, but they will make a note of it and try their best.  Fast forward to the ramen day, we managed to arrive about half an hour earlier than our reservation. I figured we'd wait inside just in case our table wasn't ready yet. We were greeted by the hostess, who, was relieved that we did show up early because she had one table left that she was holding for us. Alas, we got top row of the honeycomb! That experience alone was worth it. It was super cool with the privacy and having our own control center to call for a waiter. There were other standard seats in the center of the restaurant, as well as curtained-off seating on the other perimeter, which offered another option of privacy. I ordered the omurice, another popular dish I've seen on Instagram. This place was a lot easier to get to than Japan. My fiancé ordered a ramen. My meal came with a bao appetizer, a Thai tea, and a dessert. The table also had some spices/seasonings and hot sauce. Our food came out fairly quick and we were eager to dig in. My rice was presented by the waiter, who sliced the egg in half, opened up the gooey insides, and poured gravy all over it. I could not wait! It was pretty tasty and the egg was a fantastic consistency. I quickly filled up and was stuffed. My fiancé has mentioned that his ramen was probably one of the best bowls he's had in any restaurant (he still mentions it to this day).  Overall, I think the hype was definitely worth is. The unique experience that the seats offered was accompanied well by the delicious food. We would love to come back, but I fear we may not get the cool table, which is just the cherry on top. The food definitely holds its own so it wouldn't be too much of a disappointment if we missed our chances.

First, we got the vegetable tempura to share. It was light and crispy, pairing well with the sauce they provided. My personal favorite was the sweet potato tempura! They also offer a terrific sushi combo special; 2 rolls for $15 or 3 rolls for $19.45. We got two 3-roll sushi combos and I personally opted for the Spicy Salmon, Spicy Scallop, and Shrimp Tempura rolls. My favorite roll was the Spicy Scallop roll, but all the rolls were amazing! The Spicy Scallop Roll is a MUST TRY here. The fish is so fresh and they give a lot of fish (perfect fish-to-rice ratio!). I love how the tempura was crispy in the sushi rolls as well. Overall, the quality of the food is solid too, and it's a great place to get some tasty sushi. There are probably about 8 tables max at Toppu, so it's a great spot to grab some takeout. They have their own parking lot and there's tons of street parking right in front of the restaurant. However, I definitely recommend dining in though! The restaurant is clean and cute. I love how they have Toppu dishes and glasses. The staff is also very friendly.
