We did lunch on a Monday, party of three. Went with the lunch specials. The service is always very good and attentive there if you dine in, or take out. Their lomein is very good along with the boneless spare ribs which are top notch in my opinion. They serve meals with some tea which is a nice touch and aids digestion. This place has been there for some time so it's time tested and one of our favorite places to go for American-Chinese. They're really efficient for take out and we have dined in with larger parties too and they accomodated. Our family has been loyal, frequent customers of Tsang's Village Cafe in Hanover for many years. We have always enjoyed the food and have supported this restaurant regularly, which is why what happened recently was especially upsetting and heartbreaking. My 29-year-old son and his 27-year-old girlfriend recently stopped at Tsang's while waiting for a takeout order. They sat at the bar and attempted to order drinks. The bartender asked for identification. My son's girlfriend presented an international driver's license, but the bartender would not accept it. She also offered a photo of her passport, which was refused as well. Both the bartender and manager agreed that these forms of identification were not acceptable, despite the fact that these same forms of identification had reportedly been accepted on previous visits. What happened next was even more disturbing. While they were sitting at the bar, another customer directed a comment toward my son's girlfriend, telling her to "make sure you always carry your paperwork." The comment was delivered in a disparaging and bigoted manner and was completely unacceptable. We understand that restaurants have policies regarding identification, and we would have respected a simple, courteous explanation of those policies. What we cannot accept is the way my son and his girlfriend were treated, particularly when an interaction that could have been handled respectfully instead left them feeling singled out, humiliated, and possibly racially profiled. For a family that has been loyal to Tsang's for years, this experience was deeply upsetting. We have supported this restaurant for a long time, and it is heartbreaking to say that our family will not be returning to Tsang's Village Cafe. Businesses have a responsibility to treat every customer with dignity and respect. Regardless of a person's background or where they are from, no one should leave a restaurant feeling that they were made to feel unwelcome or less than others. read more

Not the fish, but the other ingredients around it. Some staff are pleasant some staff are not. I will be looking for a new sushi place. We go to Tsang's every Valentine's Day and this is a date night favorite for my husband and I. Service is always very efficient and friendly - they check back on us often. The sushi is excellent - I find the selection to be very expansive. My husband loves the Chinese food selection as well. Ambiance is very nice - a wide open room with plenty of tables and booths. Once we requested to sit at the sushi bar, which was a lot of fun getting to watch the chefs prepare sushi rolls. Love this place! read more

Tsangs can be really great or meh. We've found ordering at busy times means not as good. Their chicken wings are great but sometimes they substitute ham for pork and it's not the best. All the traditional dishes are good and the maitre de is very nice. It's the best around our area. read more

I took my father to Tsang's for lunch for the first time and he absolutely loved it! Where do I begin.... Tsang's was my families favorite restaurant for over 20 when it was at the Norton ma location. When I found out there was one in Hanover, I had to take the hour drive to see if the food was as good and tasted the same as it did and let me tell you it sure did. It unlocked a core memory from my childhood I was so happy... I'm still happy! Huge portions. The service is still extremely good. The waitress was extremely kind and attentive. Food is still made really quick! This location was so nice inside very fancy more upscale. I really enjoyed the entire experience. Great to see an old friend at the bar as well! Been in here three times now and no matter what we get just doesn't agree with us. Tried the spider roll, tuna lover roll, Japanese salad and edamame. Edamame was what it was. $8 for a tiny portion. Smaller than what you can get at many places for $3-4. Salad was fresh and think the dressing may have been too. Carrot ginger but no one enjoyed it. Very thick and grainy. Tuna roll honestly didn't taste fresh. Tuna on top looked like it was frozen. Taste was just off. I literally spit out the spider roll. Can't describe the mouth feel other than overly fried and oily. No real taste other than old fryer. Folks inside were very friendly, greeting many take-out patrons by name, obviously knowing them. Two rolls, salad and edamame $62. This was my second visit to Tsangs the first was a sit down dinner with my wife a few months ago and we loved the sushi, Tsangs Fried Rice, Crab Rangoons and Chicken Wings. This time I just got a Sushi Boat for 1 as a take out order. It's spacious and very well kept inside. Our dinner was in a Friday night and it was PACKED, but service was decent and food came out quick. went there on Christmas around 5pm. the waitress tossed the silverware and napkins all together of the table for us to separate. asked what we wanted and rushed us. the food was cold when she delivered it. never came back to ask is everything was ok. only returned to actually toss the check along with the fortune cookies on the table and walked away. returned to grab the credit card and then returned with the final check and return my card. been there years before on Christmas and never had this kind of poor service and cold food. will not return. read more

Unassuming spot from the street (situated in a little business plaza across the street from a rec center), this place got rave reviews from some friends of ours, so we decided to give it a shot. The entry of the restaurant is crowded with a hodgepodge setup of folding tables and chairs in part of the dining room which serves as their takeout pickup department- apparently they do a TON of takeout orders. After you pass by that setup, you head back into the rest of the dining room which has a nice bar and linen covered tables - it's trying to be more fine dining than just local dive Asian food spot. Our table got a mix of sushi and Chinese food, and it all came to the table very quickly via a nice, but more efficient than friendly server. Tonight, my heart was broken. Tsangs, the restaurant, is closed. It has been forced into take-out service only. For over a dozen years, Tsang's friendly and efficient staff, its clean and attractive surroundings and its tasty and excellent food, has been the go-to restaurant for me, my family, my friends and so many other south shore diners. Tonight, when I arrived I saw the restaurant darkened, my appetite was replaced with a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye. Not to mention an anger towards the government that has, against our will, told us that this is all ok, as long as it (maybe) saves a life. Sorry, I am not buying it. Went to Tsang last evening with my honey. The restaurant completely full.. obviously they are doing something right. We started the meal with some tasty drinks, Scorpion Bowl and Mai Tai.
