    Pad thai $14.29

Pad Thai The noodles were cooked well, el dente with a little bit of chewiness. The chicken is plain chicken with no marinade which wasn't bad because the sauce they use was sufficient. The sauce was mildly sour and had the perfect spiciness for me (medium, you can choose your level of spice). I would've liked the flavours to be more pungent but it was good. For me, it wasn't too salty as most people say. The whole dish came together with cilantro, bean sprouts, peanuts and lime. It was quite pricey for the dish at $14~ with tax in. The decor is quite nice with many pieces from Thailand. I spoke to one of the owners who mentioned the original Thai Siam is south of Bangkok and is closing after 45 years. He has another location in Houston as well. I would come back for their lunch special ($10+tax) if their portions are the same as what I paid for.

I think this might be the best tom kha kai soup I've ever had.

Excellent taste, very decent service, friendly staff, tiny but intimate small room with agreeable decorations. I ordered the coconut soup named tom kha kai. It is a chicken and mushroom soup in coconut milk broth with lemongrass. It was the perfect slightly sweet and sour taste with a little spicy kick to it. I went for medium for spice level although it was pretty spicy. So don't go too spicy if you think you can't handle. I continued with fresh mango salad. It comes with double roasted cashews and a cilantro dressing. Very tasty. My husband got the green curry with tofu and vegetables. He asked for mild spice level and it was really mild and smooth. Overall everything was really tasty. If I have to mention a downside, they might improve a little on the rice. It was a bit overcooked although didn't taste too bad. The restaurant is suitable for families and children. There is no stairs so it's accessible for a wheelchair or stroller. They except credit cards.

We were actually heading out to Swiss Chalet (which is in the same plaza) but decided to try this place instead. What a pleasant surprise! We were promptly seated by a friendly waiter who also recommended a strategically placed table so we would't be faced with the cold wind coming in the door every time it opened. Nice big chairs made it easy to balance the carrier for my younger one and easy to climb up for my older one. We were offered a booster which was nice because many places only have high chairs. The slightly dim lighting and muted colours made for a cozy, almost-romantic feel, but the decor is going to be outdated pretty soon (doesn't matter, we were there to eat). There is enough seating for probably 30-40 people and it filled up quickly. They also appeared to do a lot of takeout business. The menu was not as extensive as my beloved Siam Dish in Burlington (which is now sadly gone forever) but selection was still ok. We got the spring rolls, green curry chicken (mild for the kids), pineapple fried rice and pad thai. Tea to drink. The tea was a little watered down but otherwise stayed hot and lasted us for the whole meal. My older one had water which was thoughtfully given to him in a HUGE styrofoam cup with a lid, a straw and a fun mini cocktail umbrella to keep him busy. The waiter was very in tune with us because he mentioned his kids were similar ages and he knew what it was like to juggle eating out with kids. Spring rolls were standard and came 2 to an order with fish sauce. I could have used another spring roll but that's ok. Pineapple fried rice came with shrimp and lots of pineapple. Very good. Pad thai was very good too (didn't appear to have ketchup!) Green curry chicken was good but not the best I've had. The portion of steamed rice we ordered to go with the curry was too small. I would recommend ordering another one if you are going to have curry. The bathroom was an individual bathroom but I couldn't for the life of me find the lock so we took a chance. Only saw the lock on the way out as it was hidden below the door handle (I guess it was designed that way for aesthetic reasons). My older one enjoyed looking at all the decorations in the washroom because I guess some of the classical Thai dancers look like shiny, new superheroes he didn't know yet. Also the King of Thailand looked like one of our relatives in a weird way. The service at this place more than makes up for the food and an extra bonus is that it is run by real Thai people (we know, because we heard them speaking Thai). Will be back.

My friend and I have been planning to meet up for a while. Our schedules and her moving to Hamilton…read morethis summer had delayed our plan, but we got it together last Saturday. For years, I lived the furthest from the office in our department. Well, that title has been bequeathed to my friend, who lives 60 km from the office. Luckily, we don't need to commute for the rest of 2020 due to the pandemic. If it were a contest, I'd move further east to win... haha! We both love Thai food. I looked at my Yelp bookmarks and suggested that we do takeout from Funky Thai. She liked the name and said, "Let's get funky!" Our plan was to find a park to chat and chow down. She was game. She got to the restaurant a couple of minutes before I did and texted me. I saw the Econo gas station and my eyes immediately looked at all the red signage that Funky Thai had. It's in a completely nondescript corner. I pulled in. There is a patch of road that is gravel. So, if you're turning in too fast, I can predict wiping out when it's slick. I backed into a parking spot next to my friend's car. To see her huge smile again was wonderful. I haven't seen her since I was last in the office back in early March! We walked into the restaurant. It is takeout only. Tables strategically placed next to one another provide a fort-like structure. The woman came over. She was nice. We saw the menu posted on the side. I went with curry pad thai with chicken. You can also do a mix of chicken and beef, and other protein combos for an extra charge. She asked whether I had any allergies, as chopped peanuts go on top of the pad thai. Nope, I was good. This combo came with an appetizer. I chose the veggie spring roll, as did my friend. I asked the woman whether she had any canned drinks. Her response? "Go to the gas station. It's cheaper. It's $1.75 here." Wow! Talk about being honest and promoting Econo Gas. My friend got the pineapple cashew nut fried rice with chicken and beef. It sounded good. Considering that we both did a mini road trip to Oakville, we both needed to use the washroom. You can only use it only if you're a customer. We asked if we could. The woman first went to the washroom to check. She then came back and moved one of the Tetris-like tables away so that my friend could walk over there. Once she came back, it was my turn. The washroom was clean and spacious. My food was ready pretty fast. My friend's took a bit longer. Still, it was fast considering that we were the only folks there. While I was in the washroom, my friend asked the nice woman where we could go to eat lunch. She recommended going down to the waterfront. She said that there were many parks. Nice! We chose Bronte Beach Park and drove over there. Once we found a vacant park bench, we had our late lunch. My friend confessed that she ate her veggie spring roll driving over to the park. I knew that it was yummy just from that admission. The veggie spring roll is amazing. It is jammed full of veggies and glass noodles. It was large, crunchy, and so go with the sweet and sour dipping sauce. I'd come back just for the spring roll alone. My curry pad thai was nicely packed. It looked pretty. It tasted yummy. The noodles were perfect. The curry wasn't spicy. I went with mild, but I would do medium next time. The chicken was white meat, which was tender and yummy. I also got tofu, which was an added bonus. The veggies were delicious. I ate the whole thing. I didn't have a chance to take a photo of my friend's pineapple fried rice. She plowed into it, as she was hungry. It looked amazing. She loved it. I need to order some when I'm in the neighbourhood again. This Thai restaurant also offers Vietnamese food fare. I'd love to try some in future. We both paid using debit. The woman brings the machine to you. This eatery is in such an odd location, but it's definitely worth visiting if you're in Oakville. The service is quick and efficient. I had a great experience. So a neighbor of ours highly recommend us to try this Thai restaurant, I was very skeptical since the reviews were pretty low.None the less I did give it a shot today and was pleasantly surprised and happy with the interior, service and food. So I came here right after my doctors appointment and decided to get a couple of entrees to try out.I opted to stick with the lunch menu.My order was a spicy Thai basil chicken and glass noodles with vegetables and chicken.Every lunch special comes with a soup or spring roll, I got one of each. The spring roll were absolutely divine much bigger and stuffed well compared to many other Thai restaurant. The hot and sour soup was pretty standard. The main entrees came out within 10-12 minutes after ordering. Both the dishes were so so flavorful and the portions were generous.I also felt that they don't skimp on their meat. Both my entrees were loaded with meat. I ate as much as I could and took the remaining home for dinner. My server was this middle aged gentleman, he was fast and kept checking on me.He also packed my leftovers which I thought was super nice. The place itself is very clean and definitely not that bad as it may look from outside.I highly recommend going here for lunch special and more. I do look forward to coming here again to try out some more dishes with my family.

Warm lighting and stylish decor make the restaurant feel welcoming and lively, perfect for a relaxed dinner or a fun night out with friends. The atmosphere is lively and yet feels comfortable and homey. The staff are friendly and attentive, offering great recommendations. We started with "Fresh Veg Roll" and "Fish Cakes" for appetizers and paired them with "Lychee Mojito" and "Thai Pina Colada"; very refreshing for a hot summer evening. We loved the appetizers; they were fresh and tasty. For main, we ordered "Yellow Pineapple Curry with Chicken", "Golden Pad Thai with Shrimp" and "Pineapple Fried Rice with Beef". Everything was packed with flavours and cooked just right. We ended our meal with the famous Thai dessert, "Mango Sticky Rice" which was delicious and beautifully decorated.

The rice was slightly undercooked over oiled and flavorless . The shrimp were fresh but had more skin on than I preferred and not much seasoning to it. I was disappointed for my fried rice standards. On the other hand, the fresh veggie rolls were fantastic flavorful like Fourth of July in my mouth. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because the fried rice was made very last minute because they kind of screwed up my order a little bit so I'm letting them slide, but I'm sure the rest of the food is delicious.
