I came here for lunch. It was a very nicely decorated restaurant. Service was very good, the servers were attentive and the food was very good. Not a lot of parking around, mostly parallel parking and paid meter parking. The Thai milk tea and mango juice were very adorable with the teddy bear ice cube. Presentation was also very nicely done in this restaurant. I would come back.

A delicious spot for Thai food, great for sharing with a large party. It was a great experience from start to finish, everything down to their service was very attentive. Each dish had rich flavours that were well balanced. Can't wait to be back ro dine here again. Here's what we got: Crispy chicken spring rolls 4/5 - It's a great starter for the table. Something crispy to start off the meal, can't go wrong with that. Mango salad 4/5 - Refreshing, sweet and tangy mangos. Another great side dish for all the delicious yet heavier dishes that are to come. Beef pad see ew 5/5 - My favourite soya fried thicken noodles with Chinese broccoli and beef tenderloin slices. Had great flavour, especially the pieces that were just a tad burnt! Chicken pad Thai 5/5 - Well balanced flavours of sweet, savoury, tangy, and sour. The noodles were cooked perfectly, topped with bean sprouts and peanuts. Tom yum soup 5/5 - Heart warming, slightly spicy and tomatoey. A great warm starter to have for the table. Green coconut curry 5/5 - Packed with flavour, especially from the sweet creaminess of the coconut. Short ribs 4/5 - One of the few dishes I think I can skip on. It was good but the other curries and noodles really outshone this one. Tom kha 5/5 - An aromatic coconut broth simmered with lime leaves and had hints of lemongrass. This was creamy but yet refreshing from the lemongrass flavour. Crispy lemon fish 5/5 - Beautifully presented and great for sharing. Comes whole and is heated under to keep warm. A great lighter change from all the heavier dishes here. Overall it was delicious and super memorable with it's well rounded flavours. A must try, the added bonus is the second location in downtown Toronto as well!

My plate after mixing everything: Pineapple Fried Rice with Shrimps, Pad Woon Sen with Tofu & Vegs, Pak Boong Fai Deng (morning glory)

To say that there are many Thai restaurants in the GTA is an understatement, so it takes a lot for a Thai restaurant to stand out against the rest. I'd say that Pii Nong is one of the best Thai restaurants in the city! INTERIOR: Very nice with modern decor SERVICE: Friendly, efficient FOOD: Love their menu - wide selection, vegetarian options, and has some of my favourites (pad woon sen, pad gra prow, pineapple fried rice). 1) Miang Kham Platter (royal thai platter style. deconstructed one-bite betel leaves wraps with butterflied steamed shrimps, diced shallots, chilis, red onion, ginger, lime, roasted coconut slices, homemade peanut shrimp paste sauce) - Flavour burst in your mouth (savoury, a bit sweet, somewhat minty from the betel leaves), with various textures (soft, crunchy, in between). 2) Pad Woon Sen (stir-fried glass noodles with eggs, tofu, napa cabbage, mushrooms, broccoli, green beans, carrot, tomato, scallion) - SO GOOD!! My favourite dish here. The glass noodles have a nice, chewy texture, and the veggies are fresh and crisp. We chose the tofu & vegs option, and I wish that they put in more tofu. Loved the variety of veggies here. 3) Grilled Pineapple Fried Rice (with shrimps, pineapple chunks, cashews, vegetable medley, curry powder, homemade garlic shrimp paste) - This was supposed to be served in a half pineapple shell... even though it came with part of a pineapple crown, it was served in a bowl instead. I liked the small and large pineapple chunks that came with it, and the large shrimps. But this dish was spicier than I thought it would be. 4) Pak Boong Fai Deng (stir-fried morning glory with soy bean paste) - Excellent accompaniment to all the other mains. I love morning glory (water spinach) in general, so this was perfect.

We ordered four items: Hot and sour soup (6/10), appetizer platter (7/10), khao soi (7.5/10) and pad thai (8/0). Their pad thai is comparable to the infamous Pai Restaurant. The only complaint is their portion size. If you live uptown and don't want to mission too far, I would recommend giving this place a try. Their price is on the higher end for thai restaurants, but you can rest assured that you're not being served food court quality thai food.

One of my favourite Thai restaurants. I'm usually not a fan of Thai food, but I loveee certain dishes of Pii Nong's. Their soft shell crab curry is amazing, their lamb is also really good, the pandan wrapped chicken and the Thai iced milk tea. I wasn't huge on their crispy honey ginger beef dish though. It was quite tough. I've been to Pii Nong a lot and some dishes are great and others are sometimes a miss.

I feel like the pad Thai has undergone some shrinkflation in recent years. Next to iPhone XR for comparison.

Updated review. Was 3* when I first tried it still is 3* four years later. Food is decent/good but not the best in the city as others have said. Service is good and staff are friendly. My last meal was $89 tax and tip included for two people no alcohol. It's getting pricey. They do have some interesting special dishes, the grilled chicken with papaya salad, the soft shell crab etc. that you don't find at other places. But they are also pricier. As a local (walking distance) I find it a bit off-putting that it's always busy, lots of people driving in from other parts of the city. Seems like this has been happening because a real estate agent posted a YouTube video on the Leaside hood and she ate lunch there. Great for business, not so great for locals who just want to pop over to Bayview for a quick bite. Wishing Nothing but continued success for the owners but just warning everyone reservations are necessary on weekends.

The food we ordered was exceptional! The menu has a large variety of authentic Thai dishes to select and all then dishes we had were all consistently delicious. The servers are very kind and friendly, the atmosphere and decor is just right, not too fancy but chic. Love their deep fried mini crab, it was the highlight. The only down side was parking, it's difficult to find a spot especially on a weekend.

I went for the opening and the special was the appetizer platter on the house. The food was amazing. My 1st experience at a thai place and it was really good. I regret gettimg the octopus skweers. Def not worth or that good but the meals and appetizer platter was great. The service was nice and really busy but i understand. The place is packed and nice atmosphere. I recommend coming here. I am going to explore more in thai cuisine now

Amazing service. The staff comes around every few minutes to fill up water and check up on you. Absolutely delicious food. The Pad Thai is the best I've ever had including ones I had in Thailand. The laap salad is so refreshing and light. The Thai ice tea is cold and very yummy. The mango sticky rice is wonderful. The sticky rice used is different coloured based on the type of flavour (including Thai ice tea, pandan and mango) and not food colouring. Highly recommend to come to this place. Also, great value for weekday lunch specials.

The quality of this Thai restaurant is very good. I particularly enjoy their three-tier appetizer platter, each dish is very appealing. It is high quality across the board and I highly recommend it. 呢間泰國餐廳嘅quality非常唔錯。我特別鍾意佢嘅三層小食盤,每款小食都好吸引。各方面都好高質素,高度推薦。

It was late afternoon in between a late lunch/early dinner-ish time so we decided to try out this Thai restaurant. I really wanted to like this place after hearing how authentic the food was from other reviews but it did not really take authentic for us...Our food lacked a lot of flavour, green curry was a bit too watery, the Khao Soi had garnishes like pickled mustard green and purple onions that overpowered the curry taste, noodles were good but I've had better. The only item I would recommend was the Basil Rice Noodle (Pad See Ew?) that wasn't too greasy and had a good kick to it. Overall, the presentation of the dishes were nice but most of the items we ordered were not greasy but just lacked some flavour or seasoning. The service was amazing and that's why I still have them 4 stars. Thai Milk Tea was cute with the bear and tasted alright, worth the price though! Would recommend this place if you're looking for a simple date night or small gatherings, highly recommend trying their desserts!

The food is authentic Thai and tastes really good. A bit on the expensive side given the modest sizing of the dishes. We found all the dishes very tasty and the spice level is decent. Service and presentation is excellent as well. Like previously mentioned, we just found the portions on the small side.

This is a cozy Little authentic Thai restaurant. Service was friendly and sweet, the girl even can speak mandarin to recommend dishes to us. For two people we ordered too much foods. Most of them tasted very good, such as the seafood Tom yum pot, and the teddy bear Thai tea are very cute! Foods to avoid are : 1.curry pai Thai : not very impressed with the combination curry +pai Thai 2. spring rolls : it's very dry, for the first time I didn't finish the spring rolls Will come back to try more dishes!

My friend and I have been planning to meet up for a while. Our schedules and her moving to Hamilton…read morethis summer had delayed our plan, but we got it together last Saturday. For years, I lived the furthest from the office in our department. Well, that title has been bequeathed to my friend, who lives 60 km from the office. Luckily, we don't need to commute for the rest of 2020 due to the pandemic. If it were a contest, I'd move further east to win... haha! We both love Thai food. I looked at my Yelp bookmarks and suggested that we do takeout from Funky Thai. She liked the name and said, "Let's get funky!" Our plan was to find a park to chat and chow down. She was game. She got to the restaurant a couple of minutes before I did and texted me. I saw the Econo gas station and my eyes immediately looked at all the red signage that Funky Thai had. It's in a completely nondescript corner. I pulled in. There is a patch of road that is gravel. So, if you're turning in too fast, I can predict wiping out when it's slick. I backed into a parking spot next to my friend's car. To see her huge smile again was wonderful. I haven't seen her since I was last in the office back in early March! We walked into the restaurant. It is takeout only. Tables strategically placed next to one another provide a fort-like structure. The woman came over. She was nice. We saw the menu posted on the side. I went with curry pad thai with chicken. You can also do a mix of chicken and beef, and other protein combos for an extra charge. She asked whether I had any allergies, as chopped peanuts go on top of the pad thai. Nope, I was good. This combo came with an appetizer. I chose the veggie spring roll, as did my friend. I asked the woman whether she had any canned drinks. Her response? "Go to the gas station. It's cheaper. It's $1.75 here." Wow! Talk about being honest and promoting Econo Gas. My friend got the pineapple cashew nut fried rice with chicken and beef. It sounded good. Considering that we both did a mini road trip to Oakville, we both needed to use the washroom. You can only use it only if you're a customer. We asked if we could. The woman first went to the washroom to check. She then came back and moved one of the Tetris-like tables away so that my friend could walk over there. Once she came back, it was my turn. The washroom was clean and spacious. My food was ready pretty fast. My friend's took a bit longer. Still, it was fast considering that we were the only folks there. While I was in the washroom, my friend asked the nice woman where we could go to eat lunch. She recommended going down to the waterfront. She said that there were many parks. Nice! We chose Bronte Beach Park and drove over there. Once we found a vacant park bench, we had our late lunch. My friend confessed that she ate her veggie spring roll driving over to the park. I knew that it was yummy just from that admission. The veggie spring roll is amazing. It is jammed full of veggies and glass noodles. It was large, crunchy, and so go with the sweet and sour dipping sauce. I'd come back just for the spring roll alone. My curry pad thai was nicely packed. It looked pretty. It tasted yummy. The noodles were perfect. The curry wasn't spicy. I went with mild, but I would do medium next time. The chicken was white meat, which was tender and yummy. I also got tofu, which was an added bonus. The veggies were delicious. I ate the whole thing. I didn't have a chance to take a photo of my friend's pineapple fried rice. She plowed into it, as she was hungry. It looked amazing. She loved it. I need to order some when I'm in the neighbourhood again. This Thai restaurant also offers Vietnamese food fare. I'd love to try some in future. We both paid using debit. The woman brings the machine to you. This eatery is in such an odd location, but it's definitely worth visiting if you're in Oakville. The service is quick and efficient. I had a great experience. So a neighbor of ours highly recommend us to try this Thai restaurant, I was very skeptical since the reviews were pretty low.None the less I did give it a shot today and was pleasantly surprised and happy with the interior, service and food. So I came here right after my doctors appointment and decided to get a couple of entrees to try out.I opted to stick with the lunch menu.My order was a spicy Thai basil chicken and glass noodles with vegetables and chicken.Every lunch special comes with a soup or spring roll, I got one of each. The spring roll were absolutely divine much bigger and stuffed well compared to many other Thai restaurant. The hot and sour soup was pretty standard. The main entrees came out within 10-12 minutes after ordering. Both the dishes were so so flavorful and the portions were generous.I also felt that they don't skimp on their meat. Both my entrees were loaded with meat. I ate as much as I could and took the remaining home for dinner. My server was this middle aged gentleman, he was fast and kept checking on me.He also packed my leftovers which I thought was super nice. The place itself is very clean and definitely not that bad as it may look from outside.I highly recommend going here for lunch special and more. I do look forward to coming here again to try out some more dishes with my family.

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because the fried rice was made very last minute because they kind of screwed up my order a little bit so I'm letting them slide, but I'm sure the rest of the food is delicious.
