Guess I'm alone on this one uh? I can't in good faith say this was even good (at best) Thai. No flavor. Bland Thai is an oxymoron but apparently not here. I have my favorite Thai spots (see my reviews) but this isn't one of them. I had: "spicy calamari" it was blah, didn't care for the batter, only the rings were served, the sweet chili dipping sauce made it edible.i also had the lemon grass chicken. The presentation was boring, too many peppers, dry chicken, small portion. Bland all around. The service was dry, hurried yet it took forever to get our lunches on a Sunday w just a few others in the very small dining area. I didn't even care for the interior design or the strange frosted windows w a big red stripe across it. Very dark bathrooms. They do offer fair wine options, good Thai ice tea. read more

It's rare that I choose restaurants with less than a 4 star Yelp review, but because of another yelpers praise for this restaurant and note that is was under scored I took a chance! I ordered summer rolls and green curry (again - another yelpers suggestion). The summer rolls were tasty, but they were cut into pieces that were too large for one bite. Every piece fell apart during the first bite. My suggestion would to be to leave the rolls whole...so much easier to eat. The green curry was fantastic and loaded with shrimp and fantastic vegetables. Over all I agree that this hole in the wall Thai restaurant is underrated. I suggest anyone staying at Hotel Zero Degrees to walk over for dinner! Side note - the waitress was a bit lethargic, maybe just having a bad day. read more

The Best Green curry in Fairfield county Period. I have tried five other Thai restaurants, which pretty much covers them all, and this place has the best curries, with green curry being a standout. The place can be crowded on a weekend night, but during lunch time you can find seating easily. The decor is modern, and the place is big enough to seat probably 25 people. I have ordered their food and taken them to several peoples house and all have enjoyed their food. The Thai Coffee and Ice is excellent too. Overall a great thai restaurant that can benefit by getting some publicity as they are kind of hidden in a strip mall on Main Ave. read more

Food was reheated in the microwave! This was the absolute worst Thai food I've ever had. I ordered a simple, standard Thai fare lunch: pra raam. Pre-cooked cold chicken had been microwaved on top of a few pieces of wilted brown lettuce and some soggy spinach. Then, a nasty peanut sauce was lazily dribbled over the middle of the pile of meat. Super small restaurant, maybe like 8 tables but very friendly staff. Authentic Thai own restaurant, ordered a chicken Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup for take out. They told me it was going to take a while as they were backed up in take out orders but I was already on my way so told them I would just wait anyway. I got there and since I was already there, they started on my order before others and I was out of there in less than 5 min. The Pad Thai was pretty good, large take out portions and very flavorful while not being overly greasy. The Tom Yum soup was also pretty good with 3 huge prawns but the broth was a little more sour/limey than I would prefer. I've also tried the chicken larb and chicken satay. The larb definitely has a spicy kick to it and I can eat pretty spicy. The satay is pretty forgettable so nothing special about that. Overall, the price is a little high but the portions are huge and the ppl are super nice. Would definitely order from here again. read more

Ha! What a surprise find en route to Massachusetts for a wedding. We stumbled into the strip mall and was pleasantly surprised to walk into this space. Clean, basic. Service is quick and unpretentious. Their fried tofu starter was made from really good tofu and the peanut sauce is tops. I got the chicken sambal (medium) and it's actually spicy! Overall tasty too. We were really happy to find this place to fuel up for the rest of the road trip. Only thing--weird smell emanating from the bathroom area. read more

Truly awful lunch experience I had at Thai Spice. I ordered a soup for lunch and asked for it to be mild but it arrived so spicy that I began to sweat and asked the waitress if the kitchen could prepare me a new one. I know all they did was dilute the broth which was evident when it came back to the table it went from XXX spicy to bland. Not good. Ordered 4 items: 1. chicken satay. I can't quite put my finger on it but there's just a really unpleasant aftertaste from a strong spice that is not supposed to be in there. Bottom of the the box was also soggy and watery. 2. Steamed veggie dumplings. Nothing inside the dumplings is cooked. If you bite into it and look you'll just see pieces of corn and green onion. 3. I normally wouldn't go to a place rated less than four stars, but I really wanted some Thai food, so here I am. I'm glad I took the chance! The hot and sour soup was some of the best I've had anywhere , and that includes Thailand. The Green Curry was also good but not that spicy. I'm sure that could be easily rectified upon request. We came as family of three, enjoyed delicious appetizers and main entrees. My family and I never tasted Thai food before and we were really blown away by our experience from bold, spicy flavors to sweet desserts. I really enjoy the sweet Thai tea and saki. Always great service and very welcoming and friendly servers. I love the duck soup and have had it multiple times, it can come with lots of garlic but ask to have it reduced. I'm picky with Thai food. I wouldn't recommend the noodles they were a big greasy but the massaman curry and Thai iced tea were amazing.

This place is not great. The Pad Thai is wet, way too much liquid in that dish. The crab rangoon came out cold. I woke up in the middle of the night with stomach pain and threw up for two hours after eating here for dinner. Will not be back. read more

Best Thai food in Norwalk. Is it the best anywhere, definitely not. There aren't really a lot of good options for Thai in Norwalk but this is my go-to place. Here are the other options: InThai is decent but is over rated, their food is not consistent. Sometimes they go a bit heavy with the coconut and sweetness. Fast service. Seated quickly. Order often but should go in more often. It's also BYOB so that's great. The coconut curry is just right and they have a great Thai iced tea. Need to try some other dishes by the pad Thai, pad se ew, cashes chicken, are all 10/10. Definitely recommend if you're in the area. This was actually, believe it or not, the best Thai food I have ever had. I've probably, like everyone, been to 30+ Thai places in my life...and this is a meal I will not forget. Until my family moved to Connecticut from New Jersey a few years ago, our only Thai food destination was a restaurant in midtown Manhattan named Jai-Ya. Our entire clan has frequented that place for decades. We used to take our every out-of-town-guest there. Because we knew that our guests were sure to talk about the food for years to come. After moving to Fairfield County, Connecticut we were worried that we may not be able to go to Jai-Ya as often as we liked. Our guardian angels must be close by to hear our concern...and one day we just "happened" to notice that a new restaurant has popped up on Main Ave in Norwalk......Thai Spice. We were skeptical at first and yet hopeful. Happily, our hopes were not shattered when we tried it for the first time. It was exactly what I had hoped the food would be like and much more. The restaurant has maintained its quality and caliber ever since. It our favorite place to order in or to visit with guests. Last week we had our house filled with dear family members from near and far. Everyone in the group loves spicy and flavorful food. So, naturally, we decided to go out to Thai Spice in Norwalk for dinner. Excellent choice, if I may say so myself! :-) With a big group like ours, everyone got to sample lots and lots of the dishes on the menu. And everyone commented on how each dish was so distinct in flavor. Each deserving of being THE star of the show. For appetizers we ordered Lime Chili Shrimp, Pan-Fried Dumplings, Chicken and Beef Satay. These dishes got us all excited and feeling hungry for more. The main course was a sampling of Sambal Chicken, Chicken Rendang, Thai Yellow Curry and my absolute favorite at Thai Spice....Drunken Noodles. Yum!!! Have you ever tried the Drunken Noodles? I have tried them at many Thai restaurants over the years, and Thai Spice does it the best. You have got to be sure to order the spicy version - otherwise it's pointless. I sampled them all, and have the following opinion: - red curry chicken -- normal stuff, a bit watery than what I am used to in CA, but decent enough, 3 stars - penang curry chicken -- WHAT penang, not authentic at all, more like a generic boring version of some yellow curry.... nah, wouldn't order this next time. Oh, this has peanut sauce in it. - massaman curry chicken -- thick, spicier pasty sauce, very good in my opinion, except I like the food combo in the red curry the most. - mango curry chicken -- this is not a "curry" curry, but a thick paste sauce w/ mango pieces, pretty good. - pricing: for lunch special around $8-$9 each, this is very decent and comparable to the CA Thai places in Castro, MV or Santa Clara. I ordered Beef Rendang and was served Yellow Curry full of potatoes, red peppers and carrots. My order was to-go and correctly printed in my receipt so I didn't realize until I got back and settled at my hotel. My friend had ordered vegetarian yellow curry so I don't think this was a mistake, just a clearly lazy chef that figured I wouldn't know the difference. I mean COME ON! Food was good, service was good. The thai iced tea here is very strong, which was a great bonus. I had the vegetable dumplings, which were very flimsy and fell off my fork a good amount, but were still very tasty. I also had the tofu pad thai, which was good. My boyfriend had the drunken noodles which he enjoyed, nice and spicy for him. The inside is very small, and I imagine on a weekend night it would get crowded. I drive 6 hours from Philadelphia to Boston every July for a conference. This place is about midpoint, which is convenient. There's a gas station next to it and a stop and shop across the street. I've only had ONE dish and I don't see myself ordering anything else. It's the Pad See Ew with shrimp. It's amazing. I always get the Pad See Ew when I go to a Thai place and this place surprisingly has one of the top 3 I've ever had. (We're talking in America only. Not counting Thailand). Great food and plentiful portions for entrees. We ordered the Thai meatballs, though, and I don't think that was meat. My main criticism of this restaurant is delivery service. It took them over 90 minutes to get our food to us, and even with specific directions ("we're on the corner of Cedar and Fairfield, across from the liquor store") I still had to run after the driver, on my cell phone, in my pajamas. For the prices we paid for dinner ($36 for two people), the restaurant could certainly afford to install GPS systems in their delivery vehicles. read more

Little Buddah's Older Brother? Great food... Same quality as Little Buddah (Stamford) but with better seating. My favorites at this restaurant: Green Curry with Duck (Chicken Substitute) - The smoothness of the coconut milk contrasting the spice and dense flavor profile of duck is truly profound, but the duck does not reheat well, so finish before you leave. Chicken Curry Puffs - The pastry is crisp and has a delicious curry, chicken, and potato filling. Comes in veggie format too. Also worth noting: Pineapple Fried Rice is great and I keep ordering it... but just wish it had bit more spice to it. read more

Clean small restaurant seats like 30 people Ordered the shrimp soup which we were told was spicy by the waiter so we declined it and went with the sweet and sour shrimp and tofu pad Thai.both excellent -the sweet and sour shrimp was very unique with a tomato base that was gently seasoned so although sweet not too sweet with soft veggies that my elderly mother loved!
