From the beginning, there seemed to be a lack of attention to the special celebration, no birthday song, no celebratory presentation, and no effort made to create a memorable experience for our guest of honor. While we understand that not every restaurant offers the same birthday traditions, the overall lack of attentiveness and hospitality was disappointing. We sat there for 10 minutes before we even saw a waiter and then it was another 10 minutes before we received water, then another wait for our drinks. It may have been his first day. We asked for chopsticks and wasabi for our sushi, and I finally had to get up and go the sushi bar to get it! I don't know what happened to the waiter. We were shorted a salad, and I finally had to ask for it again before we finally received it, after everyone else had already finished. What was even more concerning was an interaction I had while looking for the restroom. After politely asking a male employee for directions, a female employee with long dark hair made a snarky remark repeating my question in a mocking tone, apparently unaware that I was still within earshot. As a paying customer, I found this behavior unprofessional and disrespectful. Additionally, several drinks that were ordered by members of our party were significantly overpoured. We tried multiple beverages, yet many were difficult to enjoy because the alcohol was overwhelming. This was especially disappointing considering we were celebrating a 21st birthday and had looked forward to enjoying the drink selections offered. By th3e end of the evening, our bill was over $900.00 for our group. With that level of spending, we expected attentive service, professionalism and a welcoming atmosphere. Instead, we left feeling disappointed and underappreciated. Hoping to find constructed feedback, I contacted the restaurant the following day and spoke with the manager about our experience. Unfortunately, that conversation was just as disappointing as our visit! There appeared to be little interest in understanding what had occurred. I was not asked the name of the party, where we were seated, who our waiter was, which staff employees were involved, or any other details that would have allowed the situation to be properly reviewed. The lack of concern and follow-up gave the impression that customer feedback was not being taken seriously. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe management should be aware of these concerns. Special occasions bring customers to restaurants hoping to create lasting memories. Unfortunately, this celebration was memorable for all the wrong reasons! We will never be back!!
