This review is solely based on a GrubHub order so I've never dined in or personally have ordered from the restaurant. They were open late and I was craving Thai and read good reviews. Everything was neatly packaged and the items that could potentially spill had plastic wrap over the container which is smart. I ordered yum woon sen spice level 10, kai qua spice level 8, and crab angles. Right off the bat their spicy to me is not that spicy so in the event you're looking for extra spicy they do add extra chili powder but still not spicy enough for me. Yum woon sen was good it came with ground pork and shrimp. Although the menu on GrubHub states it also includes calamari but it wasn't present in my dish. Kai qua was okay I felt like it was just a plain stir fry noodle dish. What I mean is that it's on the plainer side compared to pad kee mao, pad see ew, or lard nah but it still packed a lot of flavors. Reminds me of like a Lao stir fry noodle dish like kua mee but different flavors and noodles. If that makes sense. The crab angles were not the business. It was literally a huge chunk of cream cheese with tiny pieces of imitation crab that were not enough to mix in with the cream cheese. Had no flavor or no green onions for color. I love this place. I come here for lunch at least once a month. I try not to eat out, but when I do, I always go here. My favorite is the spicy noodle dish level 8 (it's really not that spicy). I've convinced my coworkers to try it and now they order it too. The staff is friendly and food is always ready on time with utensils and napkins. I so badly wanted to like this place, it's near my work and I'm looking for a go-to lunch spot. This review is based on my poor dine-in experience during lunch with my partner. We were the only ones in the restaurant. The woman serving us was pleasant enough, but everything else was so poor. I felt I needed to give a heads up to folks in the area to avoid this place. The most frustrating part of the experience besides the mostly inedible food: The owner was sitting at a table next to us on her phone with speakerphone on from the moment we were sat and throughout our entire meal. Still on that call loudly when we left. There was a loud electrical buzzing/droning noise as well, and no music. So all we were listening to the entire visit was this loud phone call and the electrical feedback noise. At one point, a person came in to pick up their order, and the owner, still loudly on her phone, began to scream even louder for the server, in front of the guest, rather than helping the customer herself. It was so bizarre. The food: My stir fry dish was practically inedible. It was wet, not like wet from sauce, like water liquidy wet. The vegetables tasted very bland sitting in liquid. The rice had a very strange flavor rather than being just plain rice. Not like sticky or white rice I've gotten at other Thai places. Weird aftertaste. The lunch special comes with a "soup" and a "salad." The small soup bowl was not even half full and the salad was served in a small ramekin sauce dish. The lettuce looked and tasted old and there was so much dressing on it. I like peanut dressing but this also had a strange aftertaste. I had two bites and couldn't do it. I'm not sure how they felt this was acceptable to serve to paying guests at $15+ per meal. The cleanliness of the restaurant is highly questionable. Just kind of goes with the theme here I guess. I added a star because my partner said his curry had "good flavor." He's an eternal optimist and I love that about him, but he didn't finish his meal, either. So take that however you want lol I know there are other TT locations that are really good, and I genuinely wonder if maybe people left a good review for this place mistaking it for another location. I hate to leave a bad review as this place used to be excellent. Maybe it was an off day? I ordered an expensive beef dish, it was $20 I forgot the name of it. Ribeye maybe? And the crab fried rice. It was awful and the meat was chewy I couldn't eat it. I ended up throwing it all away and eating the white rice. Service was nice although when I asked about the crab fried rice and she said it was OK, I should have ordered something else. I ordered take out so I didn't dine inside. A great lunch spot for the area! Their lunch menu is amazing, ranging from $11-$13, which includes some fried sides, salad, a soup, and an entree! Another pro is that you can get in and out usually within an hour. Service is pretty quick, which is great if you're on a tight schedule. Our server brought us boxes without us asking and took our order minutes after we sat down. My go-to is the pad see ew which I think is DELICIOUS. You cannot go wrong. However, with spice level, I'd stay within the 2-3 range to be safe. I got 4 and it already had a kick. No complaints. My husband and I stopped in at Thai Time in the GasLamp area for a quick lunch before heading out to a scheduled excursion. The good things about this place is that 1) it was very close to our hotel. 2) Our waitress was very friendly. 3) Our food came out very quickly. 4) The prices are VERY reasonable for the area. We ordered the spring rolls with peanut sauce and an order of the lunch special chicken pad Thai (it came with a side salad, and hot and sour soup) to share. The portion sizes are generous so it was plenty of food for both of us. Now for the not so good. 1) Our soup was delivered to our table cold. 2) The Tofu spring rolls were just "Ok". Neither of us liked the peanut "sauce" at all. It was VERY thick and was more like a weird sweet peanut butter "dip". The chicken pad was "not bad", but it wasn't great. I thought a long time about giving Thai Time two stars. Their lunch specials, generally speaking, are pretty reasonably priced. They provide a lot of food: soup, wonton, egg roll, ample rice and of course a fair amount of the chosen entree. A little orange wedge to clear the palate rounds out a substantial meal. But this is about all I can say about its qualities. In almost every other way, it fell short. First, the food itself was of poor quality. Quantity is nice, but eating so-so to bad food makes amount moot. The wonton and egg roll were not freshly made, as their half-warm and chewy textures attest. The rice, too, tasted as if it had been sitting for quite some time. Worst of all were the sauces: they have no flavor other than salty and a variety of spiciness. In the case of my meal, the cashew nut with chicken, the nuts were burnt. The sauce, which I asked for a medium spiciness, was not spicy at all. Second, the service. It's clear that they are overwhelmed, but the woman who ostensibly owns or co-owns TT was not handling it well. She took several orders from others who came to the counter after I was seated for take away before coming to my table to take mine. I can understand that it was busy and that she had a lot of orders to juggle, but she seemed experienced enough to know how to prioritize customers. This was not only my experience; I witnessed another dine-in customer who was also left languishing in similar circumstances. Lastly, cleanliness. At first appearance, I didn't notice, but the place is none too clean. Had I taken a closer look, I probably would not have eaten here. I cannot speak to other folks' experiences, but Thai Time Downtown (as opposed to its other locations) was for me an unfortunate mistake. read more

The place smelled strongly of Fabuloso which is a great smell, but it was a bit overpowering. Eating surfaces were clean but the walls look like they haven't been cleaned in 15+ years with food sauce splatter on them. Service was not very quick nor attentive- they seemed understaffed and most parties were seated without menus. Food was subpar but the mushrooms in my beef ginger dish were amazing. Ginger was good too. Beef was mostly dry. They give rice, soup, and an egg roll as part of a lunch deal, but all of those items were subpar to me as well in terms of taste and quality. I stopped by here because it's one of the places downtown that is open late, and it's only a couple blocks from the hotel during a thunderstorm. The staff are very friendly, and the portions are very generous, but I thought the food was just okay. The spring rolls were very crisp on the outside, but the filling felt a bit soggy to me. The vegetable pad thai didn't really do it for me. The portion was generous, but it was filled with veggies that didn't seem to go well with the dish, like broccoli, zucchini, and carrots. The bean sprouts were fresh, and it could have used a little more peanut garnish. There was also a lot more water (possibly from the vegetables being cooked?), definitely not sauce, at the bottom of the dish.
