Melt in your mouth is seldomly used to describe falafel but this place made it happen. On the cooler side was a tzatziki and caprese salad which both exceeded expectations. The spicy shrimp pasta was the perfect balance of creamy and spicy. Loved it! The beef skewers were grilled to perfection and the accompanying Greek salad and bulgur were spot on. It was just as tasty and filling as I remembered it to be. At first it seems like it would be too much food, but it was so good that I ended up eating everything on my plate. Their chicken is tender and flavorful. 10/10 on food. The only thing I was disappointed about was that they removed the grilled vegetable Panini from their menu, which was my other favorite dish, back in the day. The place itself is spacious with an occupancy of 80 for the inside and 98 for their patio. They also have shade and heat lamps for those sunny days and cool nights. I've been a loyal customer of this Persian restaurant chain for over 10 years. I've visited multiple locations over the years, including LA, OC, Del Mar, and Mission Valley, so I was genuinely excited when a location opened so close to my home in East Village. Having it within my building felt incredibly convenient, and I really wanted it to become a regular spot for me. Unfortunately, my recent experiences at this location have been consistently frustrating, and all of them were with the manager, Alana. On multiple occasions, I've arrived to pick up simple orders like a salad or chicken kebab, only to wait much longer than expected even when my food was already prepared. In one instance, I waited about 15 minutes while Alana was outside on the phone, and I eventually had to go outside myself to ask for help because my food was sitting and getting cold. Today, I called ahead to place an order while walking my dog. Alana asked for my phone number, which was the first time I've ever been asked for that at any location. I questioned it since it was new, and she said it wasn't required if I didn't want to provide it. The call ended normally after I said thank you. However, when I arrived about 15 minutes later, I was told my order was never placed because I "hung up" on the call, which was not my understanding of the interaction. Overall, my experiences specifically with Alana have been disappointing in terms of communication, attentiveness, and order handling. Given how long I've been a customer of this chain, I was really hoping this location would match the standard I've experienced elsewhere, but unfortunately that hasn't been the case so far. read more

My first time trying Panini Kabob Grill. We went to the downtown location since it was walking distance to her place. We both ended up ordering the exact same thing. Grilled chicken Kabob with avocado romaine salad and bulgur pilaf. Everything tasted great and full of flavor and fresh. The chicken was grilled to perfection and delicious. I liked the hint of mint on the salad dressing. Bulgur pilaf was flavorful. I could only eat half of my plate and took the rest home for another meal. Our server was so sweet and kind. I came here recently for lunch, as a place had recently opened. The sign has been announcing their arrival for about a year or more so I was glad to see it finally happened. There isn't really a parking lot, so you'll need to either be walking from the area nearby, find street parking, or use one of the paid Lots. The place was pretty empty and we were seated immediately. We sat outside because it was a really nice day and the inside area still smelled of paint. Our server was really nice and let us know they had just had a grand opening and over the menu with us. I ordered the shrimp kabob and it came with a side of rice and I got the Greek salad. We also ordered a side of hummus and pita bread. The shrimp was so delicious and flavorful, and the texture was good, not chewy. The rice was also good and had flavor, and the salad was amazing. It had that nice Tangy flavor from the olives, and the dressing was very smooth and had a slight sweet flavor that I really enjoyed. I will note that on a second visit I also ordered the same dish, but that day somebody was a little heavy-handed with the salt on the shrimp kabob. I've also tried the beef kebab which was very good. It's very tender, lots of flavor, and they give you a pretty big portion. You can get a entree that comes with two of them, and if you want to split it with someone, for an extra $4 they will give you each your own salad and rice. It's actually a pretty good deal. First, the outdoor area of this place is so large and great to sit and people watch people going to a Padres game. I have been waiting eagerly for the new PKG to open downtown and was excited to find out they were opening today! I brought the family for dinner and we enjoyed our experience. They have a huge outdoor covered patio with fans and heaters and a decent indoor space as well. For entrees, I ordered the flat iron steak kebab that came with a choice of salad and grain. The steak was perfectly cooked pink in the center. I really enjoyed the Mediterranean Greek salad and the Bulgar wheat side. My husband got the chicken pesto panini and avocado romaine salad. He would've liked the panini toasted a bit more, but said the bread was soft, and panini was warm throughout. He felt the avocado romaine salad was a bit plain. Got the Rigatoni Rosa and it was some of the best pasta I've ever had. So simplistic but the sweet and acidic pink sauce coats the handmade rigatoni noodles nicely, which were cooked to perfection. The sauce was also decently cheesy which I appreciated. You could taste how fresh the pasta was and it which is why I loved it so much. I'd been to the one in Mission Valley before, but having one right downtown, a few blocks from my place, is pretty awesome! I went there today with my partner. I started with the chicken vegetable soup, which was hot (temperature wise), fresh and delicious! Then I had the tofu kabob platter with basmati rice. The tofu was smoky, tangy, fragrant. Absolutely delicious! The Greek salad that came with the platter was huge and so good. My partner started with the lentil soup (which, of course I had to try), which was so tasty, and it was also temperature hot, which is very important, but I've been to many restaurants where the soup comes lukewarm or sometimes cold. Next time I'm ordering that. Then he had the salmon platter. The salmon was very well seasoned and perfectly grilled. It was moist, tender and super tasty. The basmati rice was very fragrant and tasty too. My tofu kebabs came with hummus which was creamy, tangy, with a perfect consistency. We also ordered a side of tzatziki which went really well with the salmon. Natalie was our server. She was gracious, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. We live in the neighborhood and have been waiting for Panini Kabob Grill to open for months. We did a take out Tuesday night and ordered the chicken pesto panini and the humus trio. The panini came with soup or salad so we ordered the shredded chicken soup, which had the perfect amount of seasoning and was delicious! The chicken panini was a generous portion and also delicious; the pesto was perfect - not overwhelming. Of the humus trio we both liked the regular humus and the pesto flavored. The prices were also very reasonable, especially considering the Ball Park District location. The location has a heated outdoor patio and serves beer & wine. My only advice is to add some TVs. Sometimes people don't make it into Petco Park for the start of the baseball games and may want to watch the game on TV while they eat. read more

Was really excited to try the East Village location after watching it get built, but the experience was frustrating. We paid in store using Apple Pay and I had a receipt sent to my phone, which I showed to the manager, Alana, along with my bank statement, because she didn't want to give me the food since she said she couldn't see the payment in her system. She said because it was "pending" she wouldn't release the order unless I paid a second time. She also made me wait while she spoke to "corporate," bringing the total wait to about 25 minutes. At one point she called me "condescending" when I questioned what was going on. The charge eventually showed up in their system, but by then the food was cold. No apology or accountability, which was disappointing. I'll attach the receipt I showed for proof before she made me wait 25 mins. We waited a long time for this restaurant to open so we wanted to try it right away. We went there after a Padres' game. The restaurant seemed to stay open late to accommodate the baseball fans. We were greeted by Natalie who was very helpful and we were seated right away. They have a big menu. My wife had the shrimp kabob which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the two skewer beef kabob which was flavorful. I paid the small up charge for the date salad which was worth it. Portion sizes were ample. Food preparation took slightly longer than most restaurants but this was by no means unexpected from a "made from scratch" kitchen. Prices were very reasonable. We recommend this restaurant.
