I recently ordered takeout from Thai Village and was pleasantly surprised by both the food and the attention to detail. I ordered the Curry Pad Thai because if you love curry and you love Pad Thai, why not combine the best of both worlds? It was a unique and flavorful dish that delivered on exactly that idea. I also tried the Vegetable Green Curry. While it was packed with fresh vegetables, I think I would add a protein next time to make it a bit more satisfying. The Pork Fried Rice was one of my favorites--super flavorful, delicious, and a generous portion size. The Summer Rolls were fresh and tasty as always, although I personally wish the peanut sauce had a stronger peanut butter flavor. That's purely a preference, though. The Fried Chicken was enormous and incredibly crispy. Even as takeout, it held up really well. I especially appreciated how thoughtful the staff was when packing the order. They included extra sauces and utensils and even left the bag partially open around the fried chicken to help prevent it from getting soggy. The restaurant itself is very spacious, with plenty of seating available, making it a great spot for a casual weekday dinner. The only downside was the wait time, but the powerful air conditioning made the wait much more comfortable. Plenty parking Last seating is at 7:30pm. Close at 8:00pm. We got there at 7:30pm. We asked, and the 2 young boys working at the time said, to come in. Service is fast. We ordered right away 2 #20 Pho Special. Drinks came first. Spring rolls came right after. Then the Pho. It looked good and it tasted good. We ate right away as they close at 8:00pm. The food wasn't the best, pricey and small portions but today we were in the area coming from our daughter's doctor since shes sick so we wanted pho. & this was the closest, most convenient place to get it so we took a chance and ordered pho here.... I ordered 1 chicken pho & 1 beef ball pho. They put thin sliced chicken in the broth; which i've never seen any restaurant do that before. I've owned a pho restaurant before and you're supposed to put the chicken with the noodles but maybe thai people do it differently idk? They also gave me beef pho instead of BEEF BALL pho. My mother and I came here last night for dinner. It was after 5pm and it wasn't busy. We ordered fish cake, shrimp salad, fried rice with Tofu(spicy)and spring rolls. You can never go wrong with Thai food! This restaurant is located in the Waimalu Shopping Plaza (where Safeway Waimalu is) with a lot of parking available. The ambiance of this place is nice, quiet and clean. The service was great too. The waitress was attentive to us and although she got one of our orders wrong, she was able to correct it and get in the right order in and sincerely apologized. Food was excellent! We ordered Thai fried chicken, yellow curry with shrimp, tom yum soup, beef larb, Thai iced coffee and Thai iced tea. Thai fried chicken is ALWAYS a win. The coating was crispy and the meat was juicy. I didn't eat the larb or ton yum but my boyfriend and friend said it was good. I had yellow curry because I'm not much of a spicy food person, but it was very flavorful and pairs well with the sticky rice. We've come to Thai Village many times and love their food. This time was no exception but, I do have a complaint. They are now charging 3% for credit card transactions which is the norm. Decided to try this place as we've never been to any of the Thai Village restaurants. Located in the Waimalu Shopping Plaza, plenty of parking. Our order: Papaya Salad - Plain, shredded papaya and carrot, tomato, cabbage? And a piece of lettuce with the sauce poured on top, you know the sauce with vinegar, fish sauce, sugar. We're used to having more stuff in it, like bean sprouts, Thai basil. Spring Rolls - It was nice and hot, but not to my liking. It was wrapped in rice paper which gave it a chewy texture, I prefer the wrapper like the lumpia wrapper, fried crispy. Served with lettuce, cucumber and mint leaves with the same sauce on the papaya salad only with some chopped peanuts added to it. Panang Curry with Chicken - I enjoyed this the most, but still prefer other restaurants. We like that it looked as if they use chicken breast sliced thin, onions green peppers and string beans. Sauce was more on the thin side with a good spicy peanutty taste, but my husband prefers when you can taste more of the coconut milk. Brown Rice & Jasmine Rice - brown rice was not like a regular brown rice and the Jasmine rice was nice fluffy and hot. When I recently viewed their Menu on Yelp, I was shocked at their prices. However, the prices are Grub Hub's hugely marked up prices, not the true restaurant's prices. For example, Grub Hub adds approximately $8 on the Pad Thai Noodles and $10 on the Fried Calamari. When I mentioned it to the restaurant owner, she wasn't even aware of this. Been wanting pad Thai for a while, and came across this restaurant. Heard good reviews, and decided to visit here for the first time. Phone call was standard, made an order and typical questions. They said food would be done in 15 mins but I got there in 10. Thought that was super quick! Paid for the food, and it was about $17 or so. Gave them a $2 tip so it came out to almost $20 with some change. The guy handed the order over and I was in disbelief. It was one of those half little plastic containers. Not a full plate, half of one! $17 at Zippy's can get you a full plate! I was shocked and irritated. I would've asked for my money back, but decided to see if the food was worth the $17 and change. I was already bummed out so I went to 7-11 to get some extra food just incase. Cause the pad Thai was in a small container. Got home and tried it. It was bland, barely any meat, and barely any veggies. Noodles are cheap, so I figured the other ingredients would make up the price? But nope. Worst pad Thai I've had, and for the price it's unreal. I've been to other Thai places that gave more for less, and the taste was unreal. Overreacting? Am I basing it on price? Maybe. But I'll let others dictate this review. Had a craving for Thai food & decided to give this place a go. Whenever I go to a new thai restaurant, I always get their basil + protein dish because you can't really get that wrong. In this instance, I had their chicken basil. I also ordered some of their spring rolls. To my surprise, they asked if I wanted rice with my (to go) order. Obviously? They charge $3 for a pint of jasmine rice. Uh... The main dish itself was ok? Like, it tasted fine. Nothing to write home about and definitely not spicy at all. It was average. On the plus side, there was plenty of it so you could probably get one main dish and share it with your partner if you wanted....if you had enough rice to go around. The spring rolls were also just ok. I did like their sauce a lot. It's much sweeter than a place like Thai bistro's (a thai restaurant in oahu i also like). But $16 for 6 small pieces? I dunno about that. In short, I thought the food was just ok which is a shame because in a place like Oahu they have some steep competition. If Bangkok Chef were closer to me, that'd be my go to place. As it is, I go to Thai Bistro Suksabay and I think their food is a level better than what is offered at Thai village, and they don't charge for rice. Still one of my favorite Thai restaurants. Just wanted to update my review (STILL AT 5 STARS FOR ME) because I tried a new dish that completely blew me away. Curry pad thai...talk about bringing two dishes together to make one terrific dish! This is my new GO-TO at Thai Village and not something I've seen at other Thai restaurants. It's a step up from your regular pad thai and gives it a little kick with the curry flavoring. While the pricing may be a little higher than other Thai restaurants, everything I get from here is always top notch. You get quality with your food. I've also recently tried the calamari. I don't recommend getting it for take out because it's probably better eaten fresh. While it still tastes good as take out, it loses its crunchiness by the time you open it up at home. I do not recommend the cashew chicken. My boyfriend really wanted to try it, but I did not find it to my liking at all. Not a whole lot of flavor and it's quite liquidy. Pass. I'm not sure if this place gets really busy but we got here past 1pm and there was just one family eating. We got to choose our seats as well and got our menu right away. I ordered the Laos vegetable curry which had a tasty flavor and wasn't too spicy. You'll need to order a side of rice if you want some. They have brown rice as an option besides white rice. Curry AND Pad Thai in one dish?! Say no more, I'm sold!! Another go to favorite of mine is their Stuffed Chicken Wings (no picture...yet). It gives a crunch texture with a nice filling. I've been living on Oahu for over 10 years and have been going to this restaurant through out my lifetime on this island. Thai Village is a favorite of mine and my other half's. We enjoy their food and have never been disappointed with anything we've ordered. They have multiple locations on island but today we visited their Aiea location right across from Safeway. Their restaurant front is visible when you drive into the parking lot and there's always plenty of parking in the area. You'll find them located between Paesano and Prism n Style Hair Salon directly on the opposite side of Safeway. When you walk in, you'll find yourself greeted immediately by one of the waiters and seated. They have plenty of tables that can accommodate parties between 2-4 people or they may move tables around for larger parties. Their restaurant is clean and welcoming and always has nice Thai music playing on the TV in the corner. Their menu has a good variety to choose from and we've tried many of their items in the past. Our choices for today were their beef pho, meatball pho, and spicy fish filled appetizer. Their pho bowls all come in one size but it's a good portion and their fish fillet plate has enough to share between multiple people. The flavor of their pho soup base tastes amazing already but if you want a boost in flavor, you're also served a bottle of hoisin and Sriracha to add to your bowl or use as dipping sauces for your meat. Your pho also comes with a plate of veggies/herb and I like to use all the basil leaves, lime and some of the bean sprouts in my soup. I always finish everything with a full belly when I get this. The fish fillets are cooked perfectly with a light crunch & served with a spicy Thai dipping sauce and some veggies. We get this almost every time we're here. Food is usually served within 10 mins and drinks are served right away. The waiters checked up on us often and were always readily available. They have to-go containers for your food if you don't finish everything and they'll bring you the check if you ask or just pay at the counter. Between the 2 of us, it cost about $30 each. For other dishes we've tried, I would recommend any of their curries with sticky rice, spring or summer rolls, fried calamari, fried chicken, fried shrimp rolls, stuff chicken wings, papaya salad, cucumber salad, Thai ginger soup, pad Thai, stir-fried eggplant, mee ga ti, special whole fish plate, Thai iced tea, taro rice cake with ice cream or tapioca with ice cream. You can't go wrong with any of the choices I've tried above! I'm not sure if they have a restroom since I've never had to use it while here. This is our favorite Thai in Aiea (they even have one in Waipio) since it's close to our Visiting Angels Hawaii office. Love the flavors and the many choices here. It's clean, spacious and live the authentic decor. The best is the location and the ample parking in the Waimalu Shopping Center. Lol! Why did I rate it 4/5 stars. I'm picky about consistency and friendliness. We patronize here because of the food quality but sometimes (not all depending on who serves us) we are "forgotten" when it comes to water and or time to box things up and the bill. We had a family dinner at Thai Village recently. They have excellent starters, so we decided to make a me add Kong them. We started with their Tum Ym soup which was very good. Just the right amount of sour. We then had the Green Papaya salad. It was good, but the green papaya did not absorb as much of the dressing as I would have liked. We ordered both the Spring Rolls and Summer rolls, which were both good. We also had the Chicken Satay and the Deep Fried Calamari. This is where they really excelled. The Chicken Satay was cooked perfectly, nice and tender with a very creamy peanut sauce. The Deep Fried Calamari was very crispy with a nice sweet and sour sauce. We ended the me as l with done sticky rice and Yellow Curry. I prefer the Red Curry, but not everyone at the table was into spice. The only concern about the Thai Village is that they are not always consistent with the flavors and textures. It does vary from cook to cook at times. read more

I prefer tofu to be the more flavorful fried tofu and I definitely want everything homemade. Last Thai place I went to the spring rolls were soooo lame. Obviously frozen store bought. Spring rolls here are great. Clearly made in house and served with abundant veggies. The curry was really excellent. Flavorful and creamy. Tofu broccoli was cooked perfectly where broccoli wasn't mushy and still had texture. The pad Thai was great. Had that little bit of high temperature wok sear on it that I look for. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Seemed like there were lots of takeout orders coming in and being picked up, which may be the best option in the future. The interior is nicely set up, but the service didn't really match the ambience. We ordered an array of menu items: Larb, green curry, papaya salad, and basil pork. Everything was good, but nothing stood out as incredible. None of the entrees come with rice, but you're able to get sides for $1.00. The basil pork would have been my favorite, except for the fact that there were only three bites of pork in the dish. With the number of great thai spots on the island, this probably won't be one that I frequent. read more
