UPDATE: Still the #1 place to come for Thai & Laotian food! My mother always told me to judge a place that serves Thai/Lao/Cambodian food by their papaya salad... If they don't Tung-tung it, (beat or wilt the papaya), LEAVE! That place doesn't know how to prepare that food. But, rest-assured, my papaya salad got a beaten! The service is always great! They come around every so often to fill your glass with water. Because i love my food either Thai Hot or Lao Hot, im gonna need a gallon of water... Minimal.

There's no kid menu but if you're looking for something toddler/keiki friendly- the chicken satay and fried rice are great options! Our 1.5 year old loves both They even have fun plastic child plates and cups with lids/straws for the little ones Mahalo again!

Born from the age when YouTube content creators made SE Asian travel look safe and exciting for adventurous that fueled the explosion in a whole new kind of authentic cultural cuisine across America. Suddenly the food of Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Laos was the thing. Thai Lao, a family run business, opened in 2011 in Kapolei, expanding to a second location in 2015 in Pearl City was a direct result. Great flavors with generous, sharable servings always with welcoming, family service. We all know this. We've all eaten here. Why a review update? Why try to sway fellow foodies to revisit them? They don't have long to survive. Two of us, the only customers on a weekday lunch. But seriously, the 2025 reality is dine-in lunch for two at $80 with leftovers is a good value proposition. Unchanged since opening but clean and inviting. The family, older, but the service still very welcoming. The food, relevant and solid. The incredibly difficult to make Laos style spring rolls made using rice paper wrappers (imagine trying to fry sticky mochi) great eats. Beautifully blistered, crisp, stuffed, served with fresh lettuce, mint, pickles and vermicelli with a gently spiced fish sauce. The "evil jungle curry", loaded with carrots, green papaya, and a ton of protein (pork in this case) all swimming in a gently spicy, wildly aromatic, authentically made curry. The crushed curry leaves, galangal, chili peppers, etc, all evident in the curry. Westernized menu mainstays such as the deep fried, sweet sour fish filet with pineapples, peppers and onions, perfectly cooked with flavors on point. Despite price hikes, a great experience that exceeds many new comers. Not specialized but something for all.

My go to Thai place when I'm in Pearl city. The food is always consistent, the spice levels are what they advertise. The auntie and uncle that runs this place are always so kind and happy. They get pretty busy during lunch time so it just shows how good their food are. My favorites are their nam khao (crispy rice), pad Thai, pad see ew, tom yum, papaya salad, eggrolls, and larb! The portions are large so family style is perfect! Overall, I love this place so much!

Lunch in Pearl City, O'ahu, Hawai'i... Because Monday, Labor Day, was a State and Federal holiday, I asked some friends if they wanted to get together... The first restaurant we chose is closed every Monday - good catch, Craig! That's when Deborah suggested: Thai Lao Restaurant... Okay! Thank you! Shared parking is free here at the Pearl City Business Plaza. We arrived before the 11am opening time and waited until about 11:06am when staff arrived to open the door. Inside was spacious, bright, and authenticly decorated. There was a cool waterfall at the far left wall. Service was amusing. The lone woman was a bit frazzled when many customers arrived at the same time. Later, she warmed up and even shared a scissors with us! Food was not bad! Stuffed chicken wings were the favorite. Pad kee mao and Pineapple curry were too spicy for me. Thai fried rice and pad see ew were not spicy. Yellow curry was a tad spicy, but I was able to finish it. Overall it was a great experience! We brought our own birthday cake and were able to use their plates, knife, and fork! Note: there's a slight discount when you use debit card or cash.

Update on Thai Lao restaurant well since today was a holiday a few of us friends decided to check Thai Lao. I've been here before and it was a solid 4 stars . Today well a little short of just average ? . I understand they were short handed although communication is very important for customer service. I witness family walked out because our waitress did not acknowledge the customer at all . Another customer food order was wrong and another table got the wrong bill. Also our table my friend Donna .O drank the wrong water and she asked for another cup the waitress gave attitude hmmm. Food was ok tasting probably a 3.5 Stars Customer service 2.5 Stars Overall barely 3 stars

Ok Let's me say that Thai Lao Restaurant was at one time on my favorites list. After Sandra the part owner and fill in cook left the food and service hasn't been the same. We came here to celebrate a Birthday. The restaurant hasn't opened on time on my last three visits. Hoping the food and service would improve from my last too visits.. My wife suggested to the party coordinator that Thai Lao was open when we found out that the restaurant we had planned was closed for the holiday. The stuffed chicken wings and the pineapple curry was the only dishes I enjoyed. The restaurant opened 10 minutes late.. We all sat at down and viewed menu. Ready to order, but the server tooked the order of a couple which came in after us. Hope this changes. Enjoy

Our waitress was fond of our child. Seemed really nice. Ordered the drunken noodles, evil jungle curry, sticky rice, and summer rolls. All at around $65. All was very filling between me and my wife too. Drunken noodles is by far now my favorite. The food is something you don't think will be enough until you finish it and it was just right. Nice dining area. A little too much in decorations for me though.

If you're craving some Thai and are in pearl city, Thai Lao is pretty tasty. Limited parking along the highway. Cute decor. Service was decent but we had to ask for some little things. The sticky rice came in cute baskets. The papaya salad was spicy but refreshing. The curry was very flavorful. The beef pad se-ew was also very tasty. Portions were decent.

    Chicken panang was ok.

I thought I was going to have great Thai food this past Saturday but was sorely disappointed. For Thai food, unless it's freshly cooked in the truck you can't eat it pre cooked hours in advance. The Pad Thai was really very dry. The noodles soaked up all the sauce and in the warmer makes it even worse. Score yo can't have pas thai pre cooked. It has to be fresh. The lemongrass fried chicken was ok. Very hard some parts of the chicken. Don't recommend at the Pearlridge night market.

Larb which was just ground beef doused in lemon juice.. 18 bucks for that.. not good. I spent 94 bucks for just 2 larb and sides of sticky rice, papaya salad (which was half full and bland) and mango sticky rice (very small portion size) two Thai tea... I don't want to drive all the way to ewa beach for good Thai food but looks like I will next time

    8/09/25 Menu

8/9/25 Came here for an early Saturday dinner around 5PM. My first time here & my BFF was her 2nd time & had recommended it. This place is located in Pearl City just across the street from Zippy's in the same building the old Flamingo's used to be. There was plenty of free parking in front of the business and on the diamond head side of the bldg. The spaces do get filled quickly though as we noticed when we left over an hour later. The ambiance of the restaurant inside is beautiful and comfortable with tables not too close to each other that you feel crowded. The customer service is great. The waiter we had was friendly and attentive. We never had to ask for more water and he came by frequent enough when he noticed our glasses were half full. He even came us more time to peruse the menu. They have such an extensive menu, it was hard to decide what to get but then I went with my old standby favorite of panang pork curry. My friend had the green chicken curry, and we shared an order of spring rolls. It didn't take long for our food to arrive. Our appetizer came first and just when we we were about done with it, like on cue, our dishes arrived. There were 6 small spring rolls, or more like 3 big ones cut in half, with romaine lettuce, white noodles, and sauce. The rolls were fried to a nice crisp, not over done but with a good crunch. The texture looked like it was breaded or maybe rolled in panko? It wasn't the usual smooth surface & it tasted great. My friend's green chicken curry had the usual egg plant, basil, & chicken. She said it was good. My panang pork had a good tasting curry which was mildly spicy and very tasty. The pork was thinly sliced but kinda tasted like it was cooked awhile ago, may be day before, & didn't seem to be enough of it for the price of the dish. Seemed like there were more of the veggies and basil than pork. There were several big chunks of bell pepper, thickly sliced onions, long beans. We also each had an order of sticky rice which was quite good & probably was about a cup and a half on the little covered basket. I was surprised how much rice fit into that basket. Overall, it may not have been the best Thai food I've had but it was still good and tasty. Prices are a little on the high end. Nice restaurant to have a sit-down meal, free parking, easy to find, friendly and attentive wait staff, clean.

I ordered the Curry Pad Thai because if you love curry and you love Pad Thai, why not combine the best of both worlds? It was a unique and flavorful dish that delivered on exactly that idea. I also tried the Vegetable Green Curry. While it was packed with fresh vegetables, I think I would add a protein next time to make it a bit more satisfying. The Pork Fried Rice was one of my favorites--super flavorful, delicious, and a generous portion size. The Summer Rolls were fresh and tasty as always, although I personally wish the peanut sauce had a stronger peanut butter flavor. That's purely a preference, though. The Fried Chicken was enormous and incredibly crispy. Even as takeout, it held up really well. I especially appreciated how thoughtful the staff was when packing the order. They included extra sauces and utensils and even left the bag partially open around the fried chicken to help prevent it from getting soggy. The restaurant itself is very spacious, with plenty of seating available, making it a great spot for a casual weekday dinner. The only downside was the wait time, but the powerful air conditioning made the wait much more comfortable. Overall, Thai Village delivered great food, generous portions, and excellent attention to detail. I'd definitely order from them again.

The chicken thighs were beautifully seasoned and slightly charred. The meat was cooked all the way through yet still juicy with bone in thigh. The purple sticky rice was perfectly done and I love the texture of sticky rice in general. The plate also came with sliced cucumbers and pickled mustard greens (reminiscent of Vietnamese pickled mustard greens - but in a much more vibrant green color). My favorite part of the meal was the tart and aromatic sauce that came in the meal. If you're not a fan of lime juice and fish sauce, you may want to use sparingly. However, I was thoroughly enjoying the sauce and when accompanied with a bit of the mustard greens, it toned down the sour aspect of the flavor profile. Overall, so delicious and I would love to find them again and enjoy more of their menu items!

Using Yelp's Mobile Food Trucks search will identify them but you need to use another app to actually find out where they are. I ran across them on a weekend in my neighborhood and stopped by. The food is a fusion of Peruvian and Laotian by husband-wife team, Juan Ching and Kim Thepsenavong. There is a long history of Japanese cuisine fusing with Peruvian - it's called Nikkei. But other Asian cuisines, especially Southeast Asian, also blend seamlessly with Peruvian staples. Think about the heavy use of pepper and spice in Laotian cuisine. You've been in restaurants where the heat scale is hot, Thai hot, and Laotian hot. Peppers were only introduced into Southeast Asia in the 16th century. Peru is one of the recognized birthplaces of peppers, with over 300 varieties and a 7,500 year history of cultivation. Peruvian Laotian fusion works when you do it right. I had a beef anticuchos skewers plate with Laotian accompaniments. The anticuchos had a nice smokey sweet dark color from aji panca paste. The rice was Laotian, with black and white grains of sticky rice. There was pickled Laotian som pak, a vinegar marinated mustard cabbage. A fine blended salsa-like jeow mak len, full of charred tomato smokiness, savory paedek fish sauce, garlic, shallot, bird's eye chiles, and lime, was terrific on top of the marinated beef. I hope I run into Khao and Papas again one day so I can try their grilled chicken. Until then, I have the memory of a fine take-out plate of Peruvian Laotian fusion comfort food.

Dishes were held back on the spice level and the fermented fishiness that Lao food is known for so it simply didn't hit the spot for me. Maybe the traffic coming through is more Americanized and the business caters to their palate?? Either way, customer service is amazing from the owner & employees. Items are made fresh and are able to be customized to your liking. Definitely worth a try...

I found this spot from my hours of research and I have been to the Hollywood one many times and…read morethought this might be a great spot to take my mom. She loves going to temples and loves Thai food so I definitely was excited to explore this temple together. Based on the address on Yelp, I got lost for a good 10-15 minutes. I almost gave up but luckily spotted it and had to do a U turn and we finally arrived. So I arrived 10 minutes before the food stalls closed but honestly they stayed opened a bit longer than their closing time. As I saw ppl arrive even later and was able to still make purchases. I do have to say that they do start cleaning, and not everything is available as things were being sold out. They have a table for you to grab utensils and condiments. There are some tables you can sit and eat the food that you purchase. Most of the food I purchased was about $10 each. And you pay each stall that you are at. My mom and I enjoyed everything we ordered, if only we were staying in Hawaii more days, we would definitely come back or even order more. The hard part is that they do not have a website and they are not open every Sunday either. So try calling or just randomly go and pray that it will be opened. I honestly really enjoyed my visit. Both a cool temple to go see and being able to eat authentic Thai food it was an extra bonus. 2 thumbs up from this Yelper. I highly recommend coming here if you have not been. Ordered: *Fried Bananas *Papaya Salad (you can request how spicy you want this) *Pork noodle soup *Sugar Cane Juice *Fish Cake *Water Bottle $1 *Pork spare rib Tips: *Cash Only *Restroom available. *Outside temple street parking in the dirt or pull in and try your luck to find parking.

We came here one Sunday around 10:30 am and it wasn't too busy. There's decent amount of parking…read more They have an area for food and another spot for some Thai grocery items. My favorites were the pumpkin curry and fried bananas. Everything was super delicious and well balanced flavor. Everyone was super nice and the food was cheap. One thing to note, the food stalls are only open on Sundays. Remember to bring cash.
