Thai Village was one of the first Thai restaurants I ever visited and potentially responsible for my love of curry. I hadn't been here in a long time so I decided to dine in recently. Due to the pandemic all of the old National Geographic magazines were removed, but the restaurant still has a cozy atmosphere like you're eating at someone's house. Everything was very clean. Prices and portion sizes are about average for Anchorage Thai restaurants. Friendly server and the food didn't take too long to show up. The corn cakes were more dense and less flavorful than some I've had at other Thai restaurants in town, but they were still good. I liked the sweet chili sauce that came with the corn cakes. The green curry with chicken was tasty. Tender chicken and fresh vegetables and rice. The spice was lacking, but they have a plate with condiments you can add to your dish. I added chili oil to my curry which gave it the heat and flavor it needed. I also had Thai iced tea which was a good size for the price. Overall enjoyable dining experience. I'd come again if I wanted Thai food and happened to be in northeast Anchorage. read more

I was invited to visit this joint today with a couple guys from work. Normally I probably wouldn't have noticed it driving by. From the exterior it appears to be a legacy Pizza Hut building. Inside its got varying sized tables surrounded by typical Asian style decor. The menu is extensive and a bit much so I settled on a suggestion from one in my party and had the Curry Chicken with jasmine rice. The flavor was very good. It was a bit spicy but not over the top. I'd guess this is pretty close to authentic Thai you get in country. Not a bad meal and worth another visit to try something else. read more

It needed to be a little but more saucy and spicy- but I think this was my fault. I don't know much about Alaska pricing but felt it was a decent deal for Anchorage. Only suggestion is to use a more accessible container (the tall Styrofoam makes it hard to pick around the food). Very rude I had called to order soup on my way home from a trip I got sick on. I told them I wanted a half order and when I went to pick it up they charged me for a full order. I told them no I had asked for a half order they said no and they had a full order ready. I asked them if they could change it. They says no and charged me for the full order anyway. Very bad customer service they could have changed it to a half order very easily but I was too sick to argue with them. Paid and left but will not be going back there anymore. read more

I want to give this place 5 stars because I love their garlic tofu! It is amazing. My friend got a curry and it was so watery - so she said give them a 3. This place is my favorite place to eat, not only in Alaska, but just in general. The food is excellent and the staff treat you like family. The restaurant is spacious and the seating is comfortable. There is plenty of parking and they offer take out. I can't say enough good things about Thai Village. I highly recommend their fresh spring roll and pad see ew. They accommodate all levels of spice and offer a delicious Thai iced coffee in case you go overboard on the chili sauce. When I lived in Alaska I made it a ritual to stop in after work on Monday. It actually made me look forward to Mondays! Do yourself a favor and give them a try. You will not be disappointed! read more

I'm not sure how this place gets 4 star off of 84 reviews. Perhaps Thai food in anchorage is just mediocre. I had the Tom khar with chicken. The broth was bland and tasted mostly of fish sauce and mushrooms. They don't use lemon grass or kafir lime leaves which is normal. My partner had the chicken with basil which was equally as bland. We will likely not return. read more

I thought this was the best Thai food I have had in a long, long time...they even have the really cool tofu corn fritters only a handful of places in Anchorage carry. I tried the chicken sate as well and it came with rice and the little cucumber salad. Lacking terribly, thus minus a star, was the house appetizer soup - it was congealed broth with some noodles thrown in along with the requisite bok choy. The beef masala was very, very good - rich sauce, tender beef chunks and lots of peanuts. What really stood out to me was the painstaking notices they posted all over explaining how they would cater to any food allergy or request. What else I've tasted: chicken pad thai, coconut soup with chicken and cilantro, and the red curry....YUM! The red curry seafood is a spicy dish, and tastes sooo good. In comparison to other Thai restaurants I've been to, this place doesn't have their chicken/rice/meat SWIMMING in overpowerful sauces. There's just enough to coat everything and add great flavor. Ordered some takeout last Friday, to make up for the crappy Thai I'd eaten at Thai Orchid for lunch. Yes, the Thai food there was so bad, I wanted to immediately make up for it for my next meal. We ordered the Duck Curry and the Thai-Style Roast Pork. I've never had Thai-style roast pork, and was a little apprehensive of it, due to the red color (not sure why, Chinese-stye is really red (char-siu)), but anyway, it was REALLY good! I'm dreaming of it now! I love duck. It's one of my favorite foods, and I had just eaten a very bad example of it for lunch, so this was the test - how was it going to taste here? The duck here was a much higher quality, very tender, and cooked perfectly. There was also lots of it, as well as lots of accompanying vegetables. So good!!! The curry was nice and spicy, but not too much so, which was great. Might I add there's even Thai writing on the menu? It's a family-run place, and you can hear them talking in Thai while you're there. There are National Geographics there that date back to the '50s! I was very sad there were no leftovers, but that gives us a reason to try other things on their menu. Wish I'd found this place earlier! read more

Was in the mood for fresh spring rolls so my friend I stopped here. Good eating space and really clean. Had a real homey feel. We were greeted and seated right away. I had the fresh rolls and pan fry garlic shrimp. He had the fried rice. Rolls were packed with shrimp and crisp veggies and was accompanied with a nice peanut sauce. The fried rice was flavorful and tasty. Only negative thing I can say about my shrimp dish is that some of my shrimp wasn't seasoned enough. We ate here on our way back from Denali. Absolutely delicious food. And welcoming and friendly staff. We ordered Tofu and veg in red curry and Beef Panama curry with a side of papaya salad. Stopped by for lunch when I was in this part of town the other day, and was impressed with the generosity of the lunch special (for $10.75 you get a soup, salad, choice of dish alongside 2 spring rolls.) I just wasn't blown away by the food; soup and salad were pretty bland, and the green curry was fine, but not just great. The spring rolls seemed to be mostly filled with cabbage, but were nice and crisp. The service was really friendly and prompt; definitely a comfy place to eat a meal, but perhaps try to avoid the lure of the lunch special and order other options. read more

Meh, this place is okay. Came here for lunch and wanted to substitute one of the lunch items to be vegetarian but had to order off another section because the cook wouldn't make the substitution. Oh well. Ordered the phanang curry, fresh rolls, and thai iced tea. I found the curry to a bit bland and the tea too sweet. Our order took around 45 minutes maybe because I didn't order off the lunch and the other patrons were served within minutes of ordering, even though they came in after us. I definitely found my Thai place, as you can tell by all the check-ins. The Pad Thai is ok, but the lunch specials are great. Most of the lunch specials come with soup, salad (with a peanut based dressing), pickled cucumbers and carrots, and rice. Most of the specials are some type of curry, protein and vegetable. Obviously if you're dining in, you can make the dish as spicy as you want, so no worries on that front for me. read more

I can't imagine why anyone would give this place a bad review. I'm guessing they eat fast food a lot and expected it to taste like Americanized Chinese food. This place is consistently "good Thai food". I've been eating their pad Thai for at least 15 years and it is some of the best in town. We also love #92 which is some coconut soup I can't recall the actual name of (that we all love) their Thai tea is not too sweet and the veggies in their dishes are never over cooked. We normally get the Kang Ped (Red Curry) and the Pad Thai, I highly recommended the Kang Ped! The fresh spring rolls are another favorite.
