Thangs French Coffee & Bubble Tea is known for its fruit smoothies and boba, bubble tea, and Vietnamese iced coffees. With many boba shops coming and going, Thangs continues its steady business since 1997. Owner Thang Van Le and his wife immigrated to HI in 1991 for a better life. After doing random labor work for a number of years, he started selling Vietnamese iced coffee from a horse carriage in Maunakea Marketplace in Chinatown in 1997. It became a hit, and with its popularity, they moved to a brick-and-mortar shop in the City Square Shopping Center in Kalihi. Thangs' smoothies stand out from others, as they use real fruit instead of powder for authentic flavor. With its creamy texture, there are many flavors to choose from, such as avocado, banana, mango, watermelon, dragon fruit, lychee, and more. There are also unique mixed smoothies, such as strawberry taro, mango lychee, pineapple coconut, and mango coconut. All smoothies include boba (can request no boba) and come in one size, which appears to be large. They also specialize in Vietnamese iced coffee and smoothie, as well as mocha coffee smoothie. I've had the strawberry, mango, strawberry mango, and mocha coffee smoothies and loved them all! Yes, creamy, delicious, refreshing on a hot day, and knowing that fresh fruits such as local mangoes are used! I would love to try a different flavor each time but always end up with the same thing, knowing how good they are! While prices have increased over the years as for everything else, they are competitive with other establishments. And a great convenience to stop at nearby Thangs whenever I am at Costco gas station. Customer service is friendly and efficient, and orders are made to order and processed within 5 to 10 minutes, depending how busy it is. With the blenders going full speed, the owners have installed a microphone when you're placing your order so that the communication is clear. The charming shop has refrigerators with clear windows showing the many fresh fruits that are being used. The ceiling trellis has fake green vines and fruits hanging, and the walls have fruit art and pictures of items that can be ordered. There is a counter with bar stools with the intent to enjoy your drink; however, most patrons use them to wait for their takeout orders. A clean, cozy, and pleasant shop. Cash only, with an ATM machine located in the shop. Hours of operation are: Mon to Sat 8:30a to 6:30p and Sun 8:30a to 5p. Located across from Kamehameha Bakery near Sugoi Restaurant, free parking is available in City Square's parking lot that is shared with other vendors; it may be difficult to find available parking during peak dining hours. Due to Thangs' great quality and authenticity of their products, friendly and efficient customer service, and affordability, I will certainly be back to quench my thirst. I just love their smoothies and know that you will too!

LEGIT smoothies and juices made with real fruit. You can absolutely taste the difference in freshness & the prices are good. The boba is fresh and soft, so you can tell it wasn't just sitting out for days. We ordered the soursop/lychee combo and it was DELICIOUS. Definitely a current favorite. When we came the line was long but they're able to process the orders quickly. Parking is shared with many other businesses but we had no issue finding a slot. Only downside is CASH ONLY but they have an ATM inside the business.

My go to boba place. It's a farther drive but worth it as they use real fruits and have many choices like Mung bean and Coconut, my other 2 favorites. It's a family, husband and wife business I think. They're always nice even when they get busy.

I knew about Thang's existence since high school days but never got around to trying it until recently .. let's just say "I'm a little late to the party" but so glad I finally gave them a try!! Not many boba/smoothie shops in general let alone on island make fresh drinks or use REAL fruit. And if you're like me who loves a good boba refreshing drink every now and then .. then you know just as good as I do that there's really not many boba spots around. Lot of places use powdery stuff so I was very pleased to see that they do use fresh fruits and real everything in their drinks (They have their fruits/products in their refrigerators which is right at the front when you order) and you can even see them making your drinks while you wait! I watched the guy make my drinks, they're also very fast and efficient! I ordered and maybe no more than four minutes and it was ready. Their prices are honestly pretty good and I'd say on the affordable side. Two drinks for example is less than $20 , that's a steal. Since a lot of establishments love to up charge. Inside is very neat and aesthetic! Love the vibes! I ordered Avocado+Lychee with boba (funny story I had made my own combo of these two exact flavors at a dessert spot awhile back and I was curious to see how the two would taste together .. let's just say it's heavenly! And I knew as soon as I walked into Thangs that they would deliver 100% if I tried this exact combo in boba lol .I recommend 10/10 of this combo here at Thangs! They can pretty much do whatever mix drink or combo you want , which is a plus in my books yet again! I been here twice already and the second time I came (I went the next day after trying for the first time), I had ordered the Mango+Strawberry! So refreshing as well! I have yet to explore and experiment with other flavors . But thangs has definitely gained me as a now loyal customer. Thank you Thangs! ALSO FYI : They only take CASH ! So remember to carry some cash on you or no worries , they got an ATM right by the door when you walk in.

Gotta go to Thangs especially during these hot summer months!! They use fresh fruits , boba balls always fresh, blended drinks are perfectly smooth and cheap! As busy as they normally are, they are always super nice. Don't let the long lines discourage you from ordering as they are fast in making the drinks!!! You won't be disappointed! FYI...cash only, they have an ATM machine in the store Only one request is I wish they would include on their menu is Vietnamese yogurt w/ fresh strawberries.

** cash only! But there is an atm ** Perfect pick-me-up after eating near by like the ramen place or sugos, or jay's sushi or after Chuck E. Cheese Went on a Monday afternoon in the summer, waited about 5 minutes after ordering Spent $14 on 2 drinks My go-to is the avocado "no pearl"/ boba

"Tutti Fruiti" - Little Richard. Fresh fruit smoothies and bubble tea. All kinds of fresh fruits in the glass display. Don't know why I didn't review this place before as it's my third time here. I also don't know why I don't try anything else because I get the same thing every single time - honeydew with bobba. My son got the banana with bobba. I teased him and said he picked something that was so plain, but I do admit, it tasted very good. Everything they make tastes good, but how would I know - I always get the same thing. I loved the fruity rooster decorations sitting on the shelves. I found them on eBay and people on eBay go crazy for these rooster decorations. This place not only is good for the tastebuds, it's good for your mind too. My mind was tantalized by these fruit roosters...must have... Lots of narrow parking stalls in this small strip mall. I park on the lots closer to the street and walk over. I hate small stalls. Two drinks, approximately $13.00. CASH ONLY. If you forget there's an ATM machine in the shop but it looks sketchy.

Wonderful service, tons of options we got the avocado taro root smoothie and it was just really wonderful. Worth the scavenger hunt to find the shop!

Cash only! A regular smoothie boba will run you $7.50. Their menu prices are consistently changing! Not entirely sure the price matches the product, but it was good boba. They use fresh fruit to make their smoothies, and it's not icy either which is absolutely amazing! You can taste the fruit flavor. The boba is not too sweet and chewy. Be prepared to wait a bit as they make each order individually and there usually is a line out the door. Lots of parking!

Refreshing drinks! I thought my drink would be 100 % fresh fruits, they added too much sugar on my watermelon boba drink, too sugary for me! It's good to try when you're thirsty, but not healthy at all.

This place is such a hidden gem!! I love that they use fresh fruit and it's delicious. Service was quick and helpful. Not much seating inside but a great place to pick up a smoothie/boba. Keep in mind it's cash only!

We come here at least once a week. Drinks always are on point. Love that we can customize it. My favorite go to right now is [Mango Coconut - No Boba - 25% Sweet]. Sista up front is always friendly. Shop is always clean and has a sweet smell of brown sugar boba. PRO TIP: Call in your order if you know what you want.

The employee took it and immediately hung up on me--no name taken, no "thank you," no "goodbye." When I arrived, the parking was a mess, so I had to be dropped off.
