I drove by Bolsa and noticed this new shop, well at least new to me, and decided to give it a try. First impression is the place is very clean, with seating for about 30-40. The host/waiter was friendly and fast, although it was early in the day and there were only 4 other guests. Each table comes with the assortment of fish sauce, shrimp paste sauce, and chili oil for you to up the umami of your BBH. The BBH looked clean and the broth is clear. The accompanied veggie plate is fresh with shredded banana blossom and variety of mints and sprouts. So far, the presentation is nicely done and clean. Onto the food... well that is where I find it lacking in taste. There are hardly any robustness umami flavor of lemongrass and fish sauce. Even when I added the condiments, that still did not help. As for the brisket, it was on the chewier side than my liking. The pork hock has the right bite, but overall the meat is lacking in flavor. For the uninitated, perhaps this would be a good start, but being that this is in the center of Viet town, the bar is set pretty high... So this place, to me, at best is average. I like the cleanliness and friendly setting, but the food is lacking...

This is a small mom and pop restaurant. We came here on a Monday and it was slightly busy. One table with a lot guests and a few other tables taken. We sat down and in a few minutes the waiter came by and asked if we were ready to place an order. He was working the front end by himself at the register, taking orders, cleaning the tables, and serving. He did have someone cook though. The table had the fermented shrimp pasted which I loved! The egg rolls were crispy and for 5 egg rolls they gave you like two pieces of lettuce. The fish sauce for dipping was SPICY. The red chilis made it super spicy that I couldn't even eat it. The Bun Bo Hue was alright. It wasn't as amazing and great as other people said it. The soup didn't have much flavor so I added a lot of shrimp paste. It wasn't hot hot when it came out. Meaning like maybe a few minutes after the noodles came out it wasn't hot anymore. I wouldn't come back though.

+2 stars for clean and airy restaurant. Lunch time on a Saturday 12pm and the place was near empty. We sat down, menus brought out, they take our orders asap. All good. The bun bo hue was bland. Noodles were slightly on the mushy side. At least the veggies looked fresh. Overall, its the most mediocre bun bo hue Ive had this year in Bolsa area and Hue in Viet Nam. $36 for 2 bowls of this bun bo hue is down right criminal. Tried once but I dont think Ill come back. Hue Kitchen, Ngu Binh, or even Huong giang food to go would be better.

Living here in Westminster, it's surprisingly hard to find good bun bo hue. I've tried so many that are just watered down and lackluster. This was the first time I've had a good bowl of bun bo hue in the states. The picture I took was literally half-way through my meal because I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. I knew I had to leave a review later. The broth is super flavorful and clean. They give ample amounts of noodle and meat with a good variety of different meats as well including pork knuckle, pig's blood, fish ball, and beef. I will say that it's not very spicy but they leave sate for you to add to your liking. The lychee lemon does taste a bit like canned lychee juice but regardless is quite good! I would just ask for less sugar. It's a family run business and everybody was very courteous and the restaurant is clean! Stop by if you have a chance. I know I'll be coming back.

The raising amount of MSG in the common BBH places made me try to find a new place. I happen to buy a ton of jerky from their jerky store. The BBH here is great. They give you a ton of meat. The portion is very filling. The broth is fine. I usually ask for clear broth (less oily and fatty) and order beef only (no blood, no cartilage.) People complaining about price but this is 24, everything is expensive. For what you get I think it is worth it.

    Sizzling beef stew and eggs

My boyfriend ate breakfast here and was pleasantly surprised that their sizzling skillet items were a delight for breakfast items. The inside was clean with nice decor. The staff was very friendly and fast service. I had the sizzling eggs, pate, and sausage. It was very hot when brought out but that is what makes the sausage and paste (Cha) soft and easy to chew. I liked to dip the bread with the sauce within the skillet. I also had their popular Lychee Lemon juice, it was really good. My boyfriend really liked his beef stew egg skillet and bread. The beef was tender and went well with the eggs, potato, carrots, etc. We will be back to try their famous bun bo hue for sure.

Bun bo broth is delicious. And, we were given beef jerky as gifts after finishing our lunch.

The chicken was crispy and the dipping sauce gave it that extra yummy goodness. The dish also came with a side of broth that had chicken bits in it, was nice to help digest your dish. I also loved that they gave you pickled veggies & fresh veggies. We also ordered the Loi's Fusion Saltado, upgraded the rice to garlic egg fried rice. The beef was soft and tender, the fries were nice and crispy and the fried rice was fresh. You 100% need to get the Thai Tea. A lot of place add too much cream/half and half diluting the tea flavor, they do not skimp on the actual tea in their drink. The color speaks for itself on the dark orange hue!

I'm a bit late getting around to writing this, and unfortunately, they are already closed, but I still felt like I had to share my experience. I'm not completely surprised that they closed, especially after trying their bò né. I've had this dish many times at different places around Orange County, and unfortunately, this was probably the weakest version I've come across. The first thing that stood out was the presentation. As you can see in the picture, there was this purple-colored sauce on the meat itself, which honestly did not look very appetizing. To make things worse, the sauce was cold and did not heat in time with the skillet, which really took away from the experience. The flavor itself wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't anything memorable. It was just okay, and when you factor in the cold food and the presentation, it made the whole dish disappointing. With so many places around Orange County serving bò né at a much higher level, I would probably recommend spending your money elsewhere. If you were wondering whether you missed out on some hidden gem, don't worry, you didn't. This one felt more like a piece of coal than a diamond. That being said, every restaurant has its journey, and with more time, maybe they could have found their footing. Hopefully, they can take this experience as a lesson, refine their recipes, and bring something better in their next venture. I am rooting for you Loi!

I knew about their fried chicken, but I didn't know they had chicken sandwiches too. I got the Spicy Vietnamese Chicken Sandwich, 4 wings, and garlic noodles. Tip: If you order through the app, you can skip the wait and get a free garlic noodle. I think it's only for your first order on the app, though, and I'm not sure how long the deal lasts. Wings -- 3/5 The wings were okay, but pretty mediocre. I got one flat and three drumettes, which was a little disappointing. The flavor and crispiness were both kind of lacking, and I ate them fresh too. The seasoning reminded me of that lobster green onion sauce you'd get at a Vietnamese-Chinese restaurant. Spicy Vietnamese Chicken Sandwich -- 4/5 The sandwich was definitely better. The chicken had a good crisp to it, but sadly, it was overfried and wasn't cooked evenly. The edges were noticeably darker than the center, and the chicken itself was thinner than I expected. The sauce didn't taste like anything particularly special either--it was giving spicy mayo, if anything. The vegetables and pickles made the sandwich taste similar to another famous chicken sandwich place. I actually liked it overall, but because the chicken wasn't fried evenly, I'd give it a 4/5. Garlic Noodles The garlic noodles were okay. They definitely had a lot of garlic, but I didn't think the cheese on top was necessary. It kind of ruined it for me. I won't rate this one since it was free, but I probably wouldn't order it again. Service wasn't bad. It was super busy when I went, so I had to wait a little longer than the estimated pickup time. There's ample seating inside, although the AC was kind of lacking. Overall, I'd probably come back for the chicken sandwich and give it another try, especially if a friend wanted to go. I wouldn't really recommend the other items I tried, though.
