Boycott! Boycott! BOYCOTT this place! This place is run under horrible management! I posted my last review on here and FB which you can read below! This last Wednesday we decided to try to go to this place again. The same rude security guy was at the door and he radioed in "two coming in" as we walked in. We put in our songs for karaoke and I went to the bathroom and management had the security follow me into the bathroom! I felt uncomfortable and by LAW they can't follow you into the bathroom! But they don't care about the law. The security corned me and wanted to talk to me outside! What happened is I got kicked out for posting a bad review on Facebook - all because I told them they needed to get rid of that security! And when I told people on their Facebook page not to post a bad review or you will get kicked out they blocked me! This place does not care about their regulars! I've walked by management and they are very stuck up! Please do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere! There are many better bars around! BOYCOTT! read more

A really fun place to hang out and remember when... A friend of mine wanted to celebrate her birthday here, and she invited about 25 friends, including two or three from where she used to work (including me). I accepted, and hauled my fifty-something backside to Montclair, about an hour's drive from where I live. Now having been married, parented, divorced and only recently recovered from the shock, I had not been to a club for club's sake in over ten years. Heck, I didn't even know 80s bars were a "thing." I thought it might be fun to see who comes to one of these places. Would they be old like me, or younger, or a mix? I'd find out soon enough. Parking was scant on the bar side, but plentiful on the other side of Mills, where there's a strip mall highlighting an indoor swap meet. A lot of cars were already parked there, so it looked like the tow risk was low. A brisk walk across the street, and I was at the entrance. I was greeted at the door by Derek, security-dude-slash-bouncer, who checked my ID upon entry. The regulars seemed to know him by name, and remembering the prior reviews mentioning him specifically, I said to him in passing, "Hey, the Yelp reviewers speak very highly of you." He fist-bumped me, and seemed honored by the tone of my comment. Seems like a pretty good guy. Paid my $10 cover at the door, got my smiley stamp, and went inside to find the party. Some things I noticed while I was there: * Bi-modal age distribution. Plenty of forty- and fifty-something people who lived the 80s. Plenty of twenty-something people, some of whom dressed 80s style, but didn't quite hit all their marks. Few in their thirties. * It was *hot* in the club by about 10PM. There is AC, but it barely holds up, even in the 54-degree weather outdoors. I wouldn't envy being here in the dead of August. * You pay for bottled water, rather than getting free glasses of the stuff. Minor annoyance, but the bottles are cold and not too expensive. * DJ knows his stuff. Music is matched to videos that play on an array of HDTV screens throughout the bar. Starts with alternative at 7PM, moves to pop at 9PM, and it's pretty much all 80s house dance by the time 10PM hits. My favorite has always been the alternative, and would like to see occasional evenings when they play that all the way through the evening. * Multicultural mix of patrons. Nobody cared. * Tables are scant. Get there early if you want to sit. * No food. Taco Bell is just around the corner. So I drank and danced and had a good time, and because I'm old I turn into a pumpkin around midnight. So I took my leave at 11, wished my friend well, said goodbye to her other friends, and headed home. It was a fun experience, and one I hope to repeat soon. read more

It a casual setting. Some people go well dressed and others look like they rolled off the couch. Music is fully 80's era from punk, to dance, early hip hop, and rock. Friendly environment. 4 stars because I wasn't so happy with the drink mixing. read more

This place is such an AWESOME idea! Again, why didn't I think of it? An 80s club that plays 80s music all night!? Oh my wow! Big earrings? Check! Side ponytail? Check! Funky leggings with an off the shoulder t-shirt? DOUBLE CHECK! I was sooo stoked to go to this place! I went on the website and it stated that if you sign up on the mailing list, that you can get in for free on the guestlist! Well, apparently that was only an opening night thing. Cover was $5 before 9pm and then $10 after. Ugh...I. Hate. Cover. And what's up with all these girls handling the cover charges? Who am I supposed to sweet talk!? Let's go back to my killer outfit...(I thought I would at least get free cover for that...)...I enter the building and it looks like I've been hired by the club to do a show. NO ONE else is dressed up! I felt like that moment in Legally Blonde when she enters in a bunny rabbit costume for a Halloween party and no one else is dressed up. Then, people started looking at me weird. Homie, you are at an 80s bar in skinny jeans. I should be looking at you weird! Then, I embraced my role as the cover girl for this club and we took photo booth pictures! $5 later, that was the best $5 spent the whole evening! The drinks were pretty standard...I stuck with my usual 7&7 and then....it was ON! "Oh Mickey You're So Fine!" "Vogue"! Ashleigh P. and I tore that dance floor up! But that wasn't enough! Some nice lady brought us up on stage and we brought it there too! It was awesome! But let's just remember where the club is located...yes, that's right, across the street from the Pomona swap meet. So yes, you will see your typical dude with a tattoo on his head and a really loud motorcycle here and there. I may or may not have taken pictures on his motorcycle.... All in all, it's a great idea, but I wish people would really embrace the 80s! And I wish there was no cover! And the music was great but it could have been better (I saw them sneaking in some early 90s!) hahahaa! read more

The idea of this place is super cool. Good music and all but the wait staff is slow and the security is ridiculous and a total power trip. They shoved us out of the club as soon as the music stopped at 1:46 and told us very rudely we had to wait across the street or the cops would be called. This was a little disturbing to me. If you love 80's music you will totally dance all night long. Every song was someone's favorite song. The DJ plays nonstop 80's most memorable songs: New Wave, Freestyle, Dance and Pop classics. The drinks are really good here, bartenders are fast and friendly. The crowd however is questionable. Luckily we were a big group and in our own party bubble. It is definitely not the place to hook up. This place gets crowded and not very many tables to set your drink down. Free parking. Overall we had a great time! read more

I had fun when I went to this bar only because I went with a group of my closest friends and they are hilarious! This place is small has no windows it's hot they have 1 ghetto fan near the dance floor like i know its an 80's bar but dang were in 2013 get that a/c flowing! and they don't have enough bartenders we waited 27 min to get 3 drinks and 1 water bottle it was insane!!! To top it off most of the girl "servers" we're so rude like I know it's busy and a lot of people of there but if you can't handle find another job! The place is like whatever. The drinks are ok and the music well the dj sucks. I just got out of the place and all because the "SECURY" people are a bunch of mother fuckers that think they are they have the power to humiliate people. Well they got it wrong with me. A friend and I were smoking outside across the street and they call the damn police on us because of that. First of all you have no smoking area so where are you supposed to smoke?. Not only that but the bartender was really nice and was talking to us and we got shit because they though we were bothering her. These guys are just a bunch of losers who think they can threat people however they want only because they wearing a "security" shirt. This place is terrible. Felt like I was going to get mugged. The crowd looks like they just got released from the county jail. They charge you to get in, they charge you for a VIP area (which is just a handicap ramp) and the drinks are lousy. So is the decor and the acoustics. It also smells like beer and vomit. I must say BEWARE cause on two separate occasions and different bartenders. Both tried to steal money from me. No not an honest mistake and one of them tried to play stupid with me for a split second. I gave one bartender $40 cause drinks were $21 and he tried to give me back $9 and then the next bartender at the main bar charged me $6 for a drink and I gave him a $20 and he tries to give me back $4. Both times they said sorry and gave me back the correct change, but that's some SHADY business. Good music and band, but that's about it. I went out with family to celebrate birthday and it started off pleasant but as the later hours came, the riff raff started to gather. The vibe was chill in the early evening. But once the alcohol started to flow and the knuckle heads started to bump into eachother it got dicey. I realize that the club doesn't control the crowd but the establishment wasn't all that great. The club is in the ghetto and it is a bit of a ghetto atmosphere but we had so much fun! I wasn't even drinking and I had such a good time. The tribute band, The Flux Capacitors, were great. Great energy! We danced the night away. It's a very mixed crowd, all types of people, all ages, 20-40. Maybe it's not a good place to meet people but it's fun to go with friends and sing and dance to the 80's favorites. Service was actually really good. My boyfriend and I were invited to a 40th birthday party 3 weeks after this place opened and Richard Blade was the DJ on a Sunday night!!! We didn't know anyone in this place except for the birthday boy so we thought it was going to be a short night. BOY were we wrong! It was so AWESOME!! Richard Blade still rocks! Great music! He kept the crowd going all night and we got there at 6 pm!!!. Before we knew it we were on the dance floor dancing away to all our favorite 80's music. This place really brought me back in time. Every one dressed 80's and it was fun people watching. Bartenders and waitresses were on it! I will be coming back and I am not a club type person but this place has an older crowd vibe that's chill. That 80's Bar is a gem in the city of Montclair! Best 80's club I've been to, in a long time. I frequent this place every 2-3 months -- I go here every time with my girl. Good times! They play: 80's new wave, 80's hi energy, mainstream 80's, and 80's funk/rap. The people there (attendees and hosts) are very friendly. I try to go to their special events that they have here every once in a while. It's a perfect spot for my lady and I rather than driving all the way to Los Angeles. We can drink all night, sober up, and head home. Perfect. Overall, as good as it gets. Last night, the wife and I were really excited to be going, but that quickly changed. Don't get me wrong, the place is clean and the staff is attentive. The really problem is with ownership, that is unless they don't know what's happening. They are ripping off all their customers. When I say that I'm talking about the drinks. On the surface it seems reasonable, everyone is buying these fishbowls that are huge and filled with booze. Problem is the booze is heavily watered down. So the Vodka Cran I ordered was a $6 or $7 cranberry juice on the rocks. I went cheap and ordered the well vodka, which should have had a distinct flavor of bad vodka. But to my surprise I only tasted cranberry juice. Countless times I would be at the bar ordering a bottled beer and people would complain to the bartender that their drinks were missing the booze. Also, I saw two very small barely 21 girls drinking a fishbowl drink and based on their size you'd think they would be falling down or appear buzzed at the minimum, but nope. So if that wasn't enough... $10 cover x 2, $100 on drinks (LOL), when I asked for a glass of ice water for my wife, I was told they can't do that, but you can buy a bottle water. Seriously WTF. Now lets chat a minute about the music. WE LOVE THE 80's... but maybe, just maybe they should try and play the 80's without the bass driven dance mix underneath. On some songs it works, but others it almost made the songs unrecognizable. I mean, we use to dance to this stuff before, why can't we dance to it now? Besides that, they have music videos playing on their 20+ flat screens, but they're not the songs being played by the DJ so it looks off... deserves a rethink. First don't expect secure parking -- yes it is free-- you are parking across the street in the indoor swapmeet. But on the upside, the homeless wandering the parking lot are friendly. Second, the security at the door are there to check IDs and cleavage and not much else... I saw more bottles of liquor going into this place than you can imagine. Don't worry... they don't frisk anyone ... oh wait, that is not a good thing. Third, once inside most of the patrons look like they participated in Gov. Brown's early prison release program. I felt so unsafe that I began fashioning a shank out of straws I found on the table. Fourth, it appears they serve no food here.. but you would not know it by looking at the ladies here. good place to spend a Saturday night!! went to see the police experience play! two negative issues the band went at 11 a little late and played one hour exactly ! one hour! people were into the band once they play their set people chanted one more song and the band want it to play a couple more songs ! but they DJ did not allowed he started playing music and just like that it was over for the band , it really sucked! we were a group of 13 of us on the VIP and they're asking if they band was over!! we went to see them but we felt a bit cheated cause we got one hour!! other wise the place felt secure and the the service at the VIP was good!! The 80's ambiance was ok. The fact that I had to pay $10 in the IE was ok. But the fact that I was cut off after only 1 drink was not ok. I stepped into the VIP area which my friends were in. Been coming here for a while now. Music is good(they need a better sound system) I've never had a problem until this past Saturday night. Came here with a group of 15 to celebrate my daughters birthday. A new security guard, didnt catch his name, but you wont miss him. About 4 feet tall, a lot on the heavy side for his height, seemed to have it out for our group. We paid for VIP. $20 a person. They said 5 people per table. we had 11 people, on 3 tables. When our other 4 friends showed up, he didnt allow them in to the VIP area. He said it was at capacity, although we had 4 spots on our tables. When I questioned why, he decided to kick my wife out for no reason. When I questioned another bouncer, I was told I couldn't come back in. Eventually, I was let back in, because there was no reason not to. The new bouncer is the reason I will never come back here. Hes a liar, unprofessional. I guess hes trying to make up for his lack of size, by finding reasons to kick people out. We usually spend $100 or close to it per person. 15 of us left that night. Do the math management. That bouncer will be bad for business. Your other bouncers are cool, professional and fair. No need for a bad apple. read more

We went to a g/f bday pty. were in line @ 7:45 their was about 8 people ahead of us the line was moving very slow by the time we get to the cashier she says $10 each... She had to STOP the line from moving because SHE ran out of change. (its now 8:01pm) SO, before 8:00 pm $5 - after 8:00 pm $10. The place was already jumpin and my friends had 3 small tables. D.J. was good and yes the dance floor is small but everyone was cool and made room for others. No one jabbed you in the ribs or stepped on your feet like the Paisas clubs. (no offense ,but true) At the bar we were smart and ordered 2 drinks each at one time since the tinny tiny bar was PACKED !!! At about 10ish the bar was about 3-4 people deep, everyone trying to order WHAT A HOT MESS. We decided to start ordering from the waiter Alex, we ordered 1 beer and 1 margarita which cost $12 i gave Alex a $20 bill and HE NEVER CAME BACK WITH MY CHANGE !!!! I DIDNT SEE HIM FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT. I CALLED management and left a message on their answering machine with all my info. Its now Thursday and i still have not heard from this place. MY ISSUE HERE IS BEWARE, OF BEING RIPPED OFF BY THE SERVERS, ALEX HAS GIVEN THEM ALL A BAD NAME NOW. SO, if your going to party their TAKE EXACT CHANGE, SO U DONT HAVE TO GET RIPPED OFF ! Giving 2 stars because of the music and the free arcade; other than that, there's nothing that sticks out at this place. Drinks are ridiculously overpriced and over-iced. I don't recommend this place at all. There's a $10 cover charge even at happy hour! Happy hour consists of $3 draft and that's it ( no food)! The Jack and club soda was $8 and weak and they wouldn't give me a glass of water! Said they only sell bottled water! The place smells moldy and musty. The area is shady. There are nicer places to dance and drink that play the same genre of music and have better drink specials, food and no cover charge. read more

They take Security to another level. As we approached the entrance there was a line to get in. I had a drink in my hand and was pretty much done with it. Prior to getting to the front of the line I tossed my cup away. Once I got to the front of the entrance, security denied my entrance stating the "Zero Tolerance" rule. As a common courtesy they could've just stated to me, to please throw away any outside drinks prior to getting in line. But instead the idiot bouncer just waited until I got to the front of the line to deny my entrance. And my wife saw the bouncer looking at me the whole time I was in line. Been here twice now and IMO, I'm just glad to have a place to go to that is not pretentious playing mindless top 40 garbage.. Yea its hard to get a drink, yea it gets hot, but so it is with most places, but they don't play 80's! Shawna the bartender is super sweet and on top of it and the system is bumpin with a DJ that actually mixes on beat.. Cant say that for anywhere really.. First off, it's not in the greatest neighborhood of all time, and they charge $10-15 for just entrance. Definitely not worth it since it's a shady spot. Then, $20 for "VIP", which is just a section off to the side. There' s plenty of seating throughout the club you don't have to pay extra to sit in. It's not like real table/bottle service, therefore the $20 is just a rip off. You have to pay for water, which I always think is greedy on the part of an establishment, especially if they're charging at the door. Drinks are meh and priced around $10. Rude bartenders, bouncers, and general manager. Waitresses are nice and the music is good, which is the only reason it's getting a star. But I can go to several other clubs that play eighties that would get four or five stars. read more

We went there last night, about 10 of us ages ranging from late 20s to early 40s, and we had a blast! My expectations were low considering the area but it didn't disappoint. They had a live band dressed up as the Back to the Future characters and they were really good! It was very crowded so expect to stand the whole time. Very limited tables and chairs but plenty of space on the dance floor. I didn't mind the cover charge since parking is free and they had a live band plus security was really good. I would say there were a lot more women here and mostly 30s to 40s age group. Songs, of course, were all 80s, all my favs! So if you are a fan of that decade, I would recommend this place. I'm just taking away 1 star because the bathroom line was too long with only 3 stalls for the womens. They really need to fix this but other than that, I will be back! read more

The bar tenders are kind of jerks. They cut you off after a certain amount of drinks regardless of how you're acting. They let you buy a drink when they already think you're drunk then kick you out the second you pay. We went here on a friday.1st they charged us 15 bucks per person..really in pomona 15 bucks? I went with a group of friends for my birthday, and had a really great time. I had no issue with the bouncers like some previous reviewers had stated-they were pretty chill actually. Drinks were good, wait staff was friendly, and prompt. Music was absolutely perfect-everything from early 80s new wave to pop. The only drawback is what's typical in any club- 3 bathroom stalls for the ladies with a line a mile long. Would highly recommend for a fun night out. read more
