The combo platter of baby back ribs, pulled pork and beef brisket with cold slaw and baked beans.

The food here was amazing! The combo meal of baby back ribs, pulled pork and brisket was delicious! The owner made sure we were happy and even brought us the meatloaf, that is also smoked, to taste. Everything was great! Don't judge the restaurant for ambience. The food is what you are there for. My wife and I shared the combo platter shown in the pic and we were stuffed. There were more people at a restaurant across the road but I'll guarantee their meal was not as good as ours.

We arrived close to 9 pm- an hour before closing. This is a small roadside building with 3 tables inside and a few more tables out the back door. After the bartender / hostess / waitress told us to seat our selves, then told us several times she would be with us, she came and asked what we wanted to drink. My husband said " just water" and I asked for Coke Zero. Before we could ask for a menu she disappeared and came back a few minutes later with the Coke Zero and bottled water. (We were expecting tap water in a glass). She quickly disappeared for another 5 minutes so we started drinking the bottled water and Coke Zero. When she returned She informed us they were out of most things and we could choose from 4 items: pulled pork, chicken, brisket or a burger as the only options. We had seen on online menu that listed steaks, beef ribs, turkey and fish among other items and she said that both turkey and beef ribs were rarely made in the summer months, meatloaf was excellent but not made daily and they simply were out of anything else. We ordered brisket with the two sides she recommended- potato salad and green beans, and she said the burger came with a bag of chips. When the food was brought we quickly realized a mistake was made bringing baked beans and she quickly went back and brought out the green beans. Never heard back until the end of the meal and asked about the chips which were brought when everything was finished. On a small side counter there was a bunch of mostly unlabeled bottles - red, yellow and opaque. We grabbed the red and opaque- assuming the red would be ketchup - and after shaking for a minute finally got a plop off dark red sauce into which we dipped the burger. Big mistake- mouths set on fire- the waitress told at the end when we asked that it was ghost pepper bbq sauce!!! The 1/2 lb burger with American cheese tasted fine - we ordered it medium to medium well done. It was a tad dry but still had a nice taste. The brisket was very good - we appreciated it was not over salted - it had a nice hint of smoke and beefy taste. The green beans were simply prepared - boiled and seasoned. The potato salad was ok - not my style - but my husband liked it. It tasted suspiciously similar to large container of potato salad my husband recently purchased at a Sam's club. We were surprised when we received the bill - the bottled water and Coke Zero were both $2.50. The brisket plate with 2 sides was $22.00 - when the website lists it as $16.00. We noticed the same routine when another couple came 20 minutes after us - waitress taking drink order, bringing drinks, disappearing, returning after drinks were opened then verbalizing the 4 items available (and their burger later delivered without chips). If we had known as soon as we walked in about the very limited menu we probably would have left and come back another time. Instead it felt misleading and orchestrated to seat people, bring drinks and no menu then announce a very limited selection of food, then take orders with customers not even knowing prices. We might return if we were in the area but not drive 30 minutes to go there as we did that night. Also- we would call ahead to see if they were "out" of a lot of things first. The meal was acceptable but the service, poor selection of items, lack of presentation of a menu with pricing, and the automatic serving of bottled water without even an explanation or choice of tap water left us with a bit of a negative impression. They also need to update their online menu pricing and label their bottles of sauces (if they aren't going to deliver them to the table and explain what they are at the start of a meal)

Unassuming spot in Matlacha but worth a stop. We picked up BBQ for our holiday dinner - brisket and ribs. They added a few extra ribs because the half rack looked too small. Very friendly staff!

Good, no frills food. Would definitely return. Would've liked to try more of menu. Beef rib gets 5 stars, mouth watering and huge portioned rib -- coming from a Texas Girl who knows her BBQ. Rest of items I tried get 3 stars. Asked for fatty brisket and received the very end of the lean side of of the brisket, with fat cap still attached/ sliced with the grain rather than against. Think it would've been much better if just sliced against the grain. Good brisket overall. Pulled pork sliders pretty good, good smoke flavor and who doesn't love a kings Hawaiian roll. The sweet heat BBQ sauce is some of the best I've had. Little sweet, little heat and an excellent punch from the vinegar. All the makings of a perfect sauce. John the pit master is a real deal guy who knows how to cook up some 'cue. Can see the hardwood burning on the pit in the back, truly a great joint.

First time we tried this restaurant and won't be the last! If you like good BBQ then this is the spot!! The wonderful BBQ smell hits you right in the face when you walk through the front door.. The restaurant atmosphere is small, cozy and old Florida feel at its finest. We had a wonderful server who was accommodating and fast. I had the ribs, baked beans and coleslaw (in pic) and it was absolutely amazing! Their spicy/Sweet bbq sauce was the bomb and best I ever had with the perfect mix of sweet and hot! My husband had the beef brisket and cucumber salad and I'm getting that next time for sure!!

Such a nice and helpful staff. Loved the food and the dessert was amazing! We had a party of 6 and…read morethey were very accommodating.

Real Texas BBQ in southwest Florida - Finding great bbq in Florida can sometimes be a daunting…read moretask, I've eaten lots of bbq and consider myself somewhat of an bbq aficionado having enjoyed bbq across this great country, every region has their own unique and different styles so believe me when I say all bbq is not created equal. Texas bbq has always been at the top of my list after traveling and working in Texas for decades and experiencing what I think is some of the best on the planet. I admit my expectations were pretty high long before I walked through the door here - just from the exterior and interior ambiance I immediately knew these people are serious bbq people and some of the friendliest you'll ever meet. In my opinion eating bbq should be an experience yes the meat preparations are of the utmost most importances but the sides, and desserts also have to be on point as well and of course fresh brewed tea. I wanted to try it all which is not reasonable so I read the menu, scanned the daily specials board(s) and also considered the recommendations by our wonderful server. We enjoyed some great sandwiches and sides and couldn't of had a better lunch during our drive through southwest Florida. Chopped Brisket Sandwich - the bun was fresh and toasted perfectly so it held up to the sauce that I drenched on the beautifully smoked meat, the lean to fat ratio was absolutely perfect and the smoked flavors came through making this one of the best bbq sandwiches I've eaten in a very long time. Pulled Pork Sandwich - the perfectly smoked pork was piled high and very lean, this is a big and delicious work of art. We ordered the sauce on the side so we could control the portion and it worked out great. Pinto Beans - these beans are cooked down until they melted into the smooth and creamy broth that was filled with onions and jalapeño peppers - these are a must try especially if you top them with some fresh raw onion and a few dashes of the Tabasco Pepper Vinegar table side the only thing I regret is that I didn't get a quart of these to take back to the campground. Fried Okra - Crispy deliciousness a southern delicacy served with ranch dressing, this combination is never a disappointment when done right and they do the okra right here. It was nice to get pickles and raw onions on the side, in my opinion if a bbq joint misses this step they don't understand what a bbq experience should be. We really enjoyed our meals here and appreciated the hospitality from the staff, great food, great service all at a reasonable price is always a winning combination, this is definitely a place I hope to return to soon...
