No one came to greet us for maybe five minutes, and I started to get nervous because there were only about five other occupied tables in the restaurant and I figured that servers would be pretty prompt. The person that served us turned out to be the bartender as the bar was right next to our table. This person did not offer us water, ask have you been here before, or any of the other pleasantries that all the other wait staff was telling to the other tables that we could hear. The other wait staff was telling people about the breakfast and their specials and the biscuits and everything and we got nothing. I don't know why we weren't seated somewhere with a server who didn't have to also deal with the bar, but our service was extremely slow and I am sure that is why. I ordered the lemonade and it was really delicious except that I would've liked to have had a water to drink as well. My husband ordered an iced coffee which he said was good but it was in a very tiny brandy type glass that could not have been more than 6 ounces. At five dollars for each of our drinks I would think that it could be maybe a little bigger. The person helping us never came back to talk about refills or having another drink or water or anything. We ordered the biscuits and I ordered a breakfast meal and my husband ordered the half of a chicken. I wanted my eggs over easy and they were almost hard. They were definitely not over easy; they were overcooked. Everything else was acceptable but not delicious. My husband's chicken was very juicy. He didn't get his salad until a few minutes after our entrées were delivered though. A different server brought the salad over to us and she said "ha ha found it" trying to make a joke, but it was like yeah we get it. You guys aren't very good at running food out. When it was time to pay, it took us asking for the bill to get it and then at least five minutes for it to be picked back up when we would've liked to have been on our way. The food was ordinary and the service was pretty bad. We won't be back again. Our breakfast was $50 plus $10 tip and parking and we can get much better service elsewhere for that same price.

That it was takeout only presented a dilemma for me, as I was just visiting the North Side for the day by bus and foot, and had no place to take my order. Of the two people behind the counter, one could not have cared less about my dilemma, but the other was of some help with this and my order. I wound up walking two blocks downhill to a park with benches. Second, that all orders are cooked to order and take 25 minutes. Fortunately there is a branch of the Pittsburgh Public Library across the street and it was open, so that occupied my time. The food: the chicken and catfish are fried in light crispy breading, very fine. The chicken wingettes were delicious. The catfish was not easily flaked and was ever so slightly rubbery, which would have been a very bad sign if it had been any more so. But it wasn't too bad. Green beans are a good side dish at this sort of joint, and these were good, seasoned with meat and sautéed onions mixed in. The white rice was entirely plain but tasty.

I ordered from them today since I was craving soul food and I'm glad I placed the order here! I was a little hesitant due to past events, but totally satisfied and pleased with everything! This time around, I ordered the family meal special. The one I ordered came with fish, wings, and 2 sides (I got Mac and cheese and greens). I also ordered loaded fries, but they sent a loaded potato instead (totally fine I like baked potatoes). Everything was amazing! The quality and taste were superb and the food was still fresh and hot upon delivery. I'm cool with the replacement instead of just not sending anything in it's place if they're out of what I ordered. Also, the only other suggestion would be to include a larger size option for the sides for the family meal special. The meal could feed 3 comfortably though and still have food leftover.
