Buttermilk Fried Chicken Tenders and Honey dusted fried chicken
    Bob T.

Maybe service would've been better if I were a local, but "R" seemed to treat our table different from everyone else. He would often look away when he gave us something, wasn't so busy but oh well. Other servers seemed nicer, so maybe unlucky dice roll. Food was mixed. I liked the sides, but the main chicken was pretty lacking in their bee/honey seasoning, like maybe 1 tender out of all the chicken had the seasoning. Chicken was brined which probably saved it from being completely dry but it still wasn't particularly good. Too dry by how they cook it. Pretty burnt. Bought home food too unfortunately, their smothered chicken which was also overcooked and probably two pieces of 1/3 a breast. Their to go box was very misleading, lol. Ambiance was cool, nice looking place for taking pictures without the food. Went on a night during weekday.

Enjoyed our lunch at Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar, Pittsburgh, PA location. The restaurant is next to Grand Concourse about 50 feet from the water. We tried the following: *Mimosa flight (4/5) stars. *I recommend ordering the Apple-achian Mimosa with apple & vanilla, cinnamon sugar rim get the MEGA (5/5) stars. *Biscuits for a cause with a side of butter and blueberry jam were delicious best when they are right out of the oven (4.8/5) stars. * Famous honey dusted fried chicken original (4/5) stars. I wished the breading had more seasoning. *I recommend the Famous honey dusted fried chicken the sweet and spicy option with sriracha honey glaze.. (5/5) stars so good!! *We ordered grilled chicken with side a Mac n cheese from the kids menu and will rate it (5/5) stars because our son ate it all!!lol Tupelo Honey has indoor and outdoor seating great place for large groups with beautiful decor. Our service was excellent with friendly and attentive staff. Check it out when in the area. Happy Yelping :)

I wanted to attend the Steelers v. Cleveland Browns game so we drove all the way from Charlotte, NC to attend our first Steelers game!!! We were starving and wanted something good and close by the stadium and stopped by this spot! We were able to make a reservation within minutes and once we arrived, were able to be seated within minutes. It was beautiful, all the black and yellow waiting for food and enjoying conversations. Our waitress Emma was so sweet and ensured that we had everything we needed! I ordered the steak, eggs, crispy potatoes, but I wanted the grits also and she helped me make a great decision in ordering them also. My husband had the Chicken and Waffles and the sauce that came with it was amazing! Everything was great and when we return for another game, we are definitely visiting again!

It was nice and quiet on a Monday morning. Service was quick and friendly. I was a tad under the weather and asked for a hot toddy. Omg it did not disappoint! The food came out fresh and hot and tasted amazing. I'm so glad there is a location in OH so I can visit again soon.

First time I've been to a Tupelo and ironically we left the south to have it on vacation! Aside of the sign at the door lying to use the wrong door to get in, it was a good experience! Place was clean and aesthetically pleasing with a nicely lit bar, service was friendly and mostly fast; fast enough we were able to catch our boat ride in time. Prices were expensive, but the refills were free for the lemonade. Food was overall excellent. I thought the fried chicken was delicious and perfectly crunchy, and the honey dusting was such a nice addition! My daughter enjoyed her burger so much I didn't get to taste it!

We had the BEST brunch here after taking the Monongahela Incline--it's right at the bottom, so it's perfect for grabbing a bite before or after seeing the amazing view of Pittsburg from above! First of all, a huge shoutout to our waiter Jason--he was incredibly attentive, super friendly, and had awesome recommendations. 10/10! We started with the award-winning biscuit. It comes with blueberry jam, honey, and butter--absolutely delicious. For our mains, we tried the chicken & biscuits, shrimp & grits, mac & cheese, and chicken & waffles. Every dish was full of flavor and felt like the perfect southern comfort food feast. And don't miss out on the mimosa flight--four different flavors, all refreshing and tasty. If you're looking for a hearty, satisfying southern meal with great service in a fun location, this spot is a must-visit. Will definitely be back!

We went to a location in the southern states and we were pleasantly surprised to see this one in Pittsburgh! Even as a franchise, Tupelo Honey delivers a great southern comfort meal. We had the fried green tomatoes, shrimp with cheesy grits, crispy chicken baked mac wirh waffles, hot honey chicken with waffles. We had 2 little kids with us and they ordered from the kids menu- chicken tenders with fries ( not your average chicken tenders- it's the same batter as their fried chicken-- really good!) and buttered pasta with Parmesan. Good price points for kids menu. The chicken was crisp and moist and so flavorful. Batter to meat ratio was good, mac and cheese was cheesy, shrimp and grits was 100/10. Sweet tea. Matcha lemonade was good, peach lemonade was too tart but doable when watered / iced down. Restrooms are clean and spacious, interior is clean and pretty, outdoor and indoor seating. Pay per parking, a small view of the river, quiet location. Service is friendly and fast. Would highly recommend!

When I knew I was heading back to my old stomping grounds of Pittsburgh, I put out a request from my friends that still live there on what was new, at least to me, and delicious. What kept coming up was this place. Just so happened that we were staying in Station Square and guaranteed me a visit. It has been about two years since I moved out of the area and I am happy to see that there is some revitalization in the area. Not as vibrant as it once was, but there is movement in the right direction. Tupelo takes up a good size chunk of space near the Smithfield Street Bridge, directly across from the Grand Concourse. They really made this space feel very welcoming. It's bright, vibrant, with a warm homey dining room feel. We came here on a Sunday evening, not very busy at all, which guaranteed us quick access to a table with menus in hand. Our server was outstanding. He delivered throughout our whole experience here. I'll touch on that throughout the rest of this review. I peeked at the menu before showing up so I had somewhat of an idea of what I might want. But it didn't hurt to look over the menu again when we showed up. Even though I had that peek I still wanted to get our server's opinion. He was very honest with what was on the menu and after we had asked about our entree we asked about the appetizers as well. With his input, our decision was solidified. But first, let's talk about the sweet tea. It was refreshing and free flowing. I absolutely loved the glasses the drinks were served in and kept commenting on them the whole time. I know they had some for purchase at the front, but they one I wanted, "Bless Your Heart" wasn't available. However, our server made sure we left with one at the end of the meal. See, he really was outstanding. Onto the food, for starters I went with the Fried Pickles. I'm always a fan of fried pickles and will give them a try anytime I see them on a menu. Their take on them are of the chip variety. They come served with a garlic buttermilk ranch, basically a spicy ranch that mixes well with the tang of the pickles. My friend and I shared these while waiting for our food to show up. We ended up getting the same thing with different variations on the sides. We went with Bourbon Peppercorn Glazed Meatloaf. For my sides I went with mac and cheese and rosemary and Parmesan crispy potatoes. You can tell that the meatloaf in scratch-made as the menu describes. It's a mixture of beef and chorizo and that glaze, bourbon and peppercorn, was just what this needed. It was so moist and if done right, each bite could be smothered in that glaze and then you might even have some leftover to scrape up with your sides. The mac and cheese, amazing, I sat there scraping the bottom in hopes that more may materialize. Then the potatoes were another amazing side. Nice and crisp, the Parmesan gives it just the right amount of salty and crunch. Such a satisfying meal and one I hope to enjoy again on any trip back to the Burgh. There is one thing that I wish I would have done while here. That was to order their Biscuits for a Cause. Just a simple order of two biscuits with blueberry jam and whipped butter. I just didn't have room for more food, and I didn't want to take them back to my room and forget about them and they go to waste. When you order this the proceeds go towards a fund they have in place. Usually it goes towards employees in need, but I believe that when I visited the proceeds were going to hurricane relief. Please, if you live in the area, or plan to visit, you must dine here. It will be worth any hassle you feel you took to get here. You will be happy you did.

    Cast Iron Pimento Cheese Queso
    Kari W.

Besides the fact that this place is delicious, beautiful, clean and friendly, their weekday happy hour prices are out of this world. Kid meals for $3...are you kidding me?! We went back two days in a row because my daughter insisted on getting the sweet potato pancakes again and I was not about to say no. I indulged in the same crispy Brussels sprout, fried pickles (with a bomb dipping sauce) and the cast iron pimento cheese queso appetizers, also for around $6 each. Truly mind blowing prices, for complete deliciousness. So depending on the chef, make sure to ask for the "dusting" on the chips that come with the queso, you won't regret it. Besides the yummy apps, we enjoyed a few of their happy hour drinks that also did not disappoint. The purple people eater was my jam, which I did enjoy on both visits! Our waitresses both days were so cool and great to chat with, the second night, our waitress talked us into the banana pudding, which normally I would never try, but omg. Wow. All in all, I will definitely be back on my husbands next business trip to Pittsburgh!

Blackened Shrimp & Avocado Po' Boy
    Zabrina H.

Worst shrimp po'boy I ever had, sorry to say. Paid $20 for 3 pieces of shrimp on a hoagie bun. Service was also not good. We waited an hour and 15 minutes for our food and one persons meal wasn't correct when she got it. It took them another 30 minutes to correct. Location and ambiance is nice though, I'll give them that. People I talk to said that brunch is better there. We went for dinner.

    Steak n Steak & Eggs
    Casey L.

Great breakfast! Took a while to get seated on a busy Sunday morning but we loved our meals. I ordered steak and eggs, medium and eggs over easy. Both were a touch overcooked but not a big deal. I really liked the grits which I didn't expect. We would definitely be back!

Had guests from out of town staying nearby, so we tried this restaurant for the 1st time Nice brunch menu, expensive & small drinks (we passed) delicious food - lack luster service.

    Half Bird - Fried Chicken
    Alexa S.

Finally tried this place out after wanting to since it came to station square! Started out with the biscuits which were absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed the blueberry jam. The fried chicken was solid and the dust on top added a nice flavor. For the side I got Brussels sprouts which were way too salty for my taste. Some with less were good, but I would get a different side dish if I return. Not pictured was the banana pudding which was pretty good. Service was good and food came out fairly quickly! All in all, Tupelo Honey was pretty decent but not somewhere I am dying to go back to compared to other restaurants in Pittsburgh.

LOVED our dinner at this place…read more We came here for dinner while visiting Pittsburgh. The first thing that struck me was the interior decor. Very industrial and moody with an open kitchen/preparation area that adds some intrigue. I do like to see the happenings of what's going on as someone with zero attention span. Service was excellent. George was fantastic. He kept a close eye on us without being overbearing. He anticipated what we might need so we didn't spend one second waiting to order anything. The menu is not endless or overwhelming which, presumably, allows them to focus on the items that are listed. I have decision panic so it was kinda nice to have less things to choose from. They asked if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions so I mentioned my vegetarianism. George went through the menu and pointed out the vegetarian options including what seems like it is vegetarian but isn't. They had TWO vegetarian entree options and fortunately the non-mushroom one was something I probably would have ordered anyway: pesto with walnuts, arugula, and a very generous amount of grated cheese. To start, I ordered the Brussels sprouts whichc I was warned had fish sauce. This was fine but nothing that blew me away. GF, on the other hand, loved this. GF ordered the wedge which was brought to our attention as vegetarian with the bacon on the side, which was her request. We ended up sharing both, a large part of that was because hers came out first and I couldn't wait but I'm so glad because the wege was FANTASTIC. The dressing? holy fuck pure ecastasy. The wedge was more like a filet shape which was much easier to eat. Who decided on the wedge shape anyway? The lettuce was so fresh and crisp and went wonderfully with that orgasmic dressing and breadcrumbs. Back to my pasta. Also delectable. Noodles were al dente. The sauce was creamy and packed that pesto umami flavor. The walnuts were a really nice contrast in texture. Everything about it absolutely fucking slapped. GF ordered the mushroom entree which came served on a bed of barley which, don't mind if I do, had a few forkfuls to "sample" for "my review". Again, so fucking good. Because it was my birthday, George provided a dessert (yuzu maybe?) that was served inside a meringue-esque igloo, creamy perfect balance of sweet and tart custard with some berry business underneath. Wonderful. I almost forgot their spectacular cocktails! Holy shit, literally they have a CORN CHIP cocktail that I could not pass up. It comes with two massive cornchips on top of a flavored foam. When you bring the glass up to sip, the cornchips are right in front of your nose and their aroma sets the stage for the drink which was STRONG. It wasn't as corn chip forward as I expected but I understand that flavor is probaly hard to create. For my second drink, I ordered the blue one which was refreshing, light, and really good. GF ordered a spritz which was gorgeous "it was good". For second round, I picked out some uranium thing that was very cucumbery, GF says, "it was good". I just read it outloud to her. "it's true!" Fantastic meal at a great place.

I was very, very frustrated. I had been glancing at their menu on Yelp and saw some tacos that I wanted to try, unfortunately the restaurant cut their menu back to only five tacos to choose from. I'm guessing to simplify things for the Draft crowd that they anticipated coming. Our server finally came to take our drink order and after so long we knew what we wanted. The server wasn't exactly friendly or attentive. We started with street corn as an appetizer, it was awesome. My wife had the chicken tacos and didn't like them. She said they were mushy and had an off flavor that she didn't enjoy. I had the birria tacos. They were not bad, they didn't come with any sauce/juice as all the other birria tacos I've ever had typically come with. I have to say, I was disappointed in the menu being reduced and other than the street corn app., just wasn't impressed. The service was not good, my wife's taco were bad and my were okay. Currently, during the winter, examples of menu items are small plates (e.g., roasted beet salad and heirloom carrots), mid courses (e.g., linguine and blue-bay mussels), large plates (e.g., sesame soy-glazed eggplant, pork chop, and picanha), desserts (e.g., pistachio cake and Kahlua fudge brownie), and alcoholic beverages (e.g., cocktails, mocktails, wines, and beers). For my husband and me, I made a reservation for dinner through the Resy website. I chose from options of the dining room, a four-season patio with awnings and heaters, and a chef's counter with a view of the kitchen. Please note that although the foods are upscale, the dress code seems to be smart casual. We parked our vehicle in a lot a short walk away. Upon our arrival to the restaurant, a seating hostess promptly greeted and seated us. Our server provided courteous and attentive service, such as taking our order and bringing our foods on time, refilling our waters, and cleaning my crumbs. We started with a Crab Cake with decent amount of crab meat, mushroom duxelles, tasty truffle aioli, and a side of arugula salad. My main course was Branzino with sides of beans-vegetables and parmesan cornbread. My husband's main course was Duck Breast with a blood-orange demi-glace, asparagus, and potatoes. I thought that everything tasted very good. The total price was $96 plus tax, 3% credit-card surcharge, and tip.

There is also a bathroom down there. Their default event menu is family style for basically everything so we only had to pick our desserts. They changed our plates and silverware between courses. The food was pretty good! I really enjoyed the salad, carrots, bucatini, and miso. I thought the meatloaf and steak were decent. The desserts were pretty good. My only small critique is that it was awkward splitting some of the mains family style due to there being an awkward amount of some items. For example, there was 10 people but eight pieces of miso so it was a little tricky to split.
