I can't quite trace the provenance of how I came across this barbershop, but I'm convinced it was good fortune. The service, the skill, the vibe--everything is top-tier. I showed up early, and a regular was finishing up in the chair. Said he'd been coming here for over two years. When I left, another regular was walking in to get his cut. This is the spot. It's a one-man show--with premiere, personalized service. My first time in, and it felt like I'd been going here for years. I've been getting my hair cut by Andy since 2022. Back then he was at a different shop but when I heard he was opening his own place it was a no brainer to move with him. A bunch of barbers have a hard time with Asian hair but Andy always has incredible attention to detail and consistently does an amazing job. This review is way too late in coming! Andy struck out on his own venture after being a barber at another fine barbershop in Poway. I accidentally found him and made my first appointment for a haircut and beard trim almost 2 years ago. I was amused he remembered ME from the old establishment! Service was in a single-chair place, nicely decorated and full service barber services. I mean, it's all. Hot towels, double lathering, careful attention to detail and careful consult on exactly what you wanted. Also like that he made suggestions and consulted "on the fly" as he was cutting your beard or hair. He's a highly personable fellow and makes easy conversation. I've been going there for almost 2 years after multiple appointments and have never been disappointed. My wife loves the cut I get and the beard shaping. His prices are on par with the service and attention you get but I love that when you have an appointment, there's no waiting. I'm gonna stick with Andy as long as I can. I've been going to Andy for just over a year now, and intend to KEEP going. For the longest time I was looking for a barber shop that really checked all the boxes, and here it is! Whenever I go, I always get a beard trim and haircut, and I always walk away impressed, no matter what. Andy is great at walking you through the initial "consult" at the beginning of every visit and the cuts themselves are diligent, no-stone-left-unturned trims.
