Well I think the new couple who moved to Mukwonago in 2018. Their children have attended our local schools ever since then soon decided that Mukwonago was where they wanted to stay. So they opened their new restaurant in this location in December 2023. Then Sold their former restaurant location in Milwaukee. They brought all their knowledge, recipes, hard work energy and twenty plus years of experience to our community. They have been here a year and half. First time at That Place. The remodel of the former restaurant is beautiful. The exterior is gorgeous and up to date. The interior is is smart, classy. Service is excellent. Friendly wait staff that takes care of your needs. The food was outstanding. Giant, sweet, succulent shrimp in the scampi. My husband asked for a warmer piece of garlic bread and his wish was granted. I enjoyed chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta. The chicken was delicious, lightly breaded. Quality, tender chicken breast accompanied by a wonderful, flavorful sauce. read more

We are in town for DMB at alpine and staying close by. Came here for brunch today and it was amazing. We started with toasted cheese raviolis and they were so delicious. We had a bloody mary with a spotted cow chaser and a mimosa. For our meal we had a steak sandwhich and a chicken alfredo pizza. Both were SO good! So happy we found this place. Service was great and the inside was so cute. Will be back here next time were at Alpine. read more

We stopped out at That Place during a blizzard-like Friday. I have heard good reviews from friends so my family decided to try it out. Our appetizer was wonton mozzarella sticks and main coarse was a unique hand battered fish fry ($18)and Shrimp Diavolo ($25) with garlic bread. Everything tasted fresh and hot. We stopped in a couple of months after the opening for a late lunch. This is the second restaurant open by these owners, the first being in Milwaukee . We previously tried eating at "That Place" for dinner, but it was packed. Half of the restaurant is devoted to patron seating, and the other half appears to be devoted to a soft- seating waiting area. There's a TV at the bar and in the waiting area. We sat at the bar and was promptly waited on by a very pleasant bartender. We ordered a few appetizers and a salad. We ordered the usual cheese curds, a salad, and wings. Mixed drinks were good. My husband enjoyed his salad, but I had to send my wings back because they were ice cold in the middle. The bartender called the young manager over, and I asked if they could microwave then to heat them so they were hot. I was informed that either they don't have a microwave or they don't microwave wings (I forget which). At any rate, they apologized and brought me a new order of fully cooked wings that were hot & didn't have ice crystals in them, demonstrating good customer service. Menu had several choices they are in the process of rolling out. This is a smart business decision as it lets them get the kinks out of the new outpost. Overall, the service was fine, and the food was okay, not outstanding. This would not be the first choice if I was seeking a really good Italian meal. Don't get me wrong! It's nice to have another addition to the dining scene in Mukwonago, especially since it's a restaurant desert. Any four-star reviews here or on Facebook with several grains of salt as the locals are pretty provincial in their views and tastes. The few people who have dared to post a negative or even neutral review have been flamed by the locals. Not kidding! People have been called out as if they were commie ax murderers because they had a different experience and "don't support a small local business" We will be back once they have really settled in and want to try their take out pizza for sure. The food was delicious here. This was our first visit to this fairly new restaurant in Mukwonago. My husband and I were both very pleased with everything. He ordered the Shrimp Fra Diavalo, which he said was spicy and flavorful. I ordered the Cheese Ravioli. The marinara sauce had the perfect balance of garlic and sweetness with a touch of basil Very yummy. Both dishes were served with the most perfect, crusty garlic bread, with just the right amount of garlic and a touch of basil. There were little extras like lemon wedges with our iced water. Also, there was nice presentation in glossy, textured black dishes. The restaurant has a classy black and taupe decor. And they played a cool stream of Blues music. Nice! All the staff were warm and friendly with fast service too. We will definitely go back again, and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, whether out for a night with friends, a family gathering, or a couples night out. read more

Our first visit after recently moving to the neighborhood. Even though it was a busy Friday night, we were seated immediately. Our waitress, Angela, was both friendly and efficient. We order the lasagna and chicken parmigiana; both were good, but I thought could have used a little more seasoning. Also, for the price would have been nice to have a small salad included. Dined in this lovely, quaint, and friendly restaurant for brunch yesterday with my family and devoured every delicious bite: amazing avocado toasts, choice chicken and waffles, and perfect prosciutto and arugula pizza. Last Friday was our second time visiting That Place. On both occasions, we enjoyed the ambiance, but certainly preferred our first visit, which was also on a Friday, but not during the busiest time. It was a tale of two experiences. First Time: the app, fried raviolis, was decent, the service was very good, and the pizza was tasty. Second Time: it was very busy, so I'm more prone to overlook customer service since they seem to be overwhelmed. However, I will point out that it took 15 minutes to get our drinks after ordering them, and only one of the three drinks was correct. The young server certainly should have used his order pad as he returned for corrections a number of times between the drinks, apps, and meal orders. The app (mozzarella wrappers) was exactly as you'd expect you should get. If I were to complain at all, I would simply say there could've been more marinara, but certainly no reason to write anything negative. However, when it came to the main meal(s), I had high hopes that they would deliver. The best of the three dishes was the Arrabbiata. The flavor was decent, but the penne noodles were definitely overcooked. The spaghetti and meatballs was simply disappointing. For this Italian restaurant staple, the meatball itself tasted okay, but seemed as though it was previously frozen. The spaghetti sauce was very disappointing. It was flavorless and very watery. In fact, as I tilted the serving dish to the side and pushed the overcooked angel hair pasta aside (shouldn't it have been spaghetti pasta , but that's minor), there was a half inch of standing water. So disappointing as any Italian restaurant worth that title should be delivering on a decent pasta sauce and a good meatball. Finally, the last dish was the most disappointing, it was the lasagna. When you picture lasagna, you imagine it being layered and could stand alone. That definitely wasn't the case for this lasagna. It is served in a dish/bowl, which was required here given it was an almost soup consistency. There was only one overcooked lasagna noodle in the entire serving dish, and the sauce was incredibly runny. My wife described it more as a "lasagna dip" than a lasagna since it was difficult to eat with a fork and should've been served with a spoon. We had been very excited to see an Italian restaurant move into the area, and thought we would finally get lucky with one that could deliver, but so far the pizza and apps seems to be the only reason to go. For the price-point (roughly $20 per meal), we expected better. We didn't expect high-end Italian, but figured their small menu would at least meet same flavor standards as an Olive Garden. We are giving them the benefit of the doubt since they are new, so we will give it another try, but it's not looking great at this point. Stopped in for Sunday Brunch. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor of the food. That place omelette was delicious and packed with flavor.
