Sweet chili chicken
Amanda K.

Compared to the previous reviews, this place seems to be under new management. This was my first visit and this place has good food for value. I ordered the sweet chili chicken, which was a big enough portion. The place was busy, but the service was still good. Also the dessert for $6 was two pieces of a deep fried Mars bar, which was decadent and great for sharing with our group. The daily specials also seem to be a great deal. The menu is quite extensive and is very similar to the Courtyard in Courtice.

Ruben sandwich with a side spinach salad. South African Cab Sauvignon wine also very smooth and good!

Overall, a very pleasant experience. They only lost a point because there was an egg shell in our meal.

Smashing good brunch?…read more Smash Kitchen has been on our list to visit for a while till we finally had the opportunity. For more than a dozen years, this Markham spot has been known for good flavors and portions. The weekend brunch menu from 10am - 2:45pm had an assortment of creative dishes. We opted for their LA mac & cheese ($25) with a saucy cheese blend textured by herb crumbles. The soft shell crab benedict ($24) looked irresistible with two nicely poached eggs beside crab drizzled with maple buffalo hot sauce. While it came with no sides, bites of the whole fried soft shell crab on brioche toast were scrumptious. The inside of this restaurant is cavernous, featuring even a private room and patio. It's much larger than the dated plaza entrance would indicate. Staff were generally active at the tables, even delivering colour sheets to young ones. Skip it or hit it? It was a long time coming but brunch here didn't disappoint. Hit it!

My wife ordered this vegetarian squash dish and she loved it. I ordered the steak and the cook was perfect but I found the sauce overpowering. It's personal preference, I like my steak with just salt and pepper without sauce. My fault for not reading the menu correctly. The sides of purée and veggies were great. Overall KB hits it out of the ballpark and is so much better than the chain upscale eateries.

Every dish I had was very good. For this meal I ordered something different, the shrimp stuffed catfish. Never had catfish so this dish was calling me. The sauce was very tasty and had a nice kick of heat to finish. Catfish was good and the shrimp stuffing was more like a meat ball texture and not really whole shrimp like I thought. Service was very good. Our waitress was chatty and was joking around with us which was fun. Ambiance is more on the rustic side almost had a saloon feel, partly because of the old building but it was quaint. There was plenty of free parking in the rear which was convenient. All in KB is a good option if you are looking for an above average restaurant in the east end.

My son devoured the entirety of his fish and chips, and it was a huge fillet. I had golden beer battered shrimp. The shrimp was plump and perfectly cooked. The batter is light and tasty. No honey mustard if that's what you like for your salad (fries for me). My son and husband really liked the Carolina gold sauce the kitchen recommended as an alternative. It's good and has a similar tang, just not for me. The ranch was solid. They have a limited beer and wine selection. We didn't notice they had a bar for mixed drinks until after the fact. The menu says they will offer local wines soon, which I like to see (and prefer to order) at local establishments. Service was excellent. The restaurant is bright and open with a subtle blue nautical theme. Comfortable booths. We'll be back.

Their clam chowder is delicious and you know it is clams...you can find them in their cup...not like some other places I go where you aren't sure it really is clam chowder. Service is friendly and if you go there enough, the servers know what you like to drink and are ready for you when you get in. Loved their bourbon bacon burger too. It is a casual place and children are welcomed and it is handicapped accessible. Lovely little entry way, too.

The latest visit was as good as the first one. Same decor, everything still spotless, wait staff friendly and fast. Due to us missing Thanksgiving we had turkey. Yes real turkey not processed roll. A must visit. Pricing very reasonable. Very busy during peak hours. Go!

Our server was rough around the edges, very short and to the point. Food was good. A nice portion sized deli sandwich and crispy, golden cut fries. This is why you're coming to Teddy's and the cooks are making it happen. The decor is horribly dated, the restaurant hasn't been updated since the 90s. It's like looking at a parody restaurant from a movie with all the sports and tchotchke memorabilia on the walls from years gone by. It's in a desperate need of an update. My biggest gripe was the server taking our deserts order while in the middle of vacuuming the restaurant because they were closing soon and she obviously wanted to go home. It doesn't make you feel very welcome. They also locked the doors and told us we had to leave from the side door instead of the main entrance. I don't know if I'll be back, it doesn't feel like they want me to come back.
