I was disappointed with One Eyed Jack. To be fair, it's a nice looking place. Some booths have built-in TVs, which is really cool, and they have a great menu. I ordered the diablo burger. At a glance, the burger looks great (see photo). I asked for caramelized onions instead of the crispy onions, the said no problem. They also said it would include ketchup and mustard. Upon arrival, the burger arrived with crispy onions, no caramelized onions. Looking further into the burger, didn't see any ketchup or mustard. So got the server's attention, and she moved on getting me what I asked for. So in the meantime my food is getting cold. Eventually my items arrive and I re-assemble my burger the way I want. I noticed they also added raw onions on a burger that typically comes with crispy onions... who does that? Eventually I get my burger the way I wanted (my wife is halfway through her meal). I take a bite and the smash burger patties are way, way over done. Almost burnt they were so dry. At least ask how a person wants their burger, and make sure all basic condiments are available at the table. On a positive note, my wife really enjoyed her meal, so there's that.

Oshawa North got its best sports bar in terms of ambiance and food. One Eyed Jack has many options in terms of food. I tried lamb souvlaki, angry salmon pasta from their main courses. I have also tried their special $9 after 9 p.m. menu. The manager and servers were very nice. It's definitely a perfect spot for those lazy weekend hangouts with friends.

The One Eyed Jack Pub & Grill is a great establishment to go and have a nice meal as a family. We went on a reservation, for a quiet booth and were seated in a separate area away from the bar which was great. Though the music was annoying loud, and it was difficult to hear servers or conversations between people at the same table. Concerning servers, our server was held up the entirety of our time there, even with only a few other tables being occupied around 5pm. So instead we got a different server, who was polite, sweet and patient with our party, taking our orders correctly and making jokes with everyone, creating a lovely atmosphere that matched the surrounding inviting decor. Our drinks came by swiftly and were refilled when needed. Our food we ordered didn't take too long, and was satisfying for each individual, especially mine, the Chicken Carbonara Pasta. It was creamy, the pancetta perfectly complimented the sauce and the grilled chicken, and the tomato added an additional texture that just made it that more appetizing. I'd recommend this establishment for anyone who wants a good meal downtown that isn't overpriced or lacklustre.

Their menu is huge, with so many different items, and each menu item looks great. The server we had was great, super friendly and attentive.

Parking seemed limited at first, but there's more available in the back. Just a tip: be careful not to miss the entrance, since exiting is a one-way street and re-entering can be tricky. We arrived around 6:45 pm and saw a small line with two groups ahead, but the place is much bigger than it looks from the outside and we were seated quickly in a comfortable booth for four. The pub was clean, and I was especially surprised at how spacious and tidy the washrooms were--not what I usually expect from a pub, which tend to feel older and worn. The menu is huge, and TVs are everywhere--even in our booth. Between us, we tried a good range of dishes: 1. Caprese Salad with Steak - nicely balanced with pesto, though the steak was a little dry. 2. Fish and Chips - incredible portion for $18! Crispy, perfectly cooked fish with fries, coleslaw, and even a Caesar salad. The fries were well-seasoned (no ketchup needed), coleslaw was enjoyable despite me usually not liking it, and the Caesar was delicious. 3. Mexican Salad - flavorful, fresh, and generous in portion. 4. Tuesday Wing Special - wings were $0.90 each, so I ordered 15 with a Coke Zero. The garlic Parmesan was disappointing--dry and lacking flavor--but the Buffalo ranch wings were tender and spot-on. Service was friendly, though our waitress could have been more proactive with drink and water refills. Overall, I was impressed. Clean space, huge portions, good value, and a welcoming pub atmosphere. Definitely a solid stop if you're in the area.

My friend and I endured our local dive for years as it declined before it shut down (finally). Now that it has been replaced with this gem, I will be stopping by much more often! The South end never looked (or tasted) so good! Prices are very reasonable and they have some amazing deals like $10 pint and pound and $10 pasta and pint. Check out the menu in my photos. They have a decent draught beer selection and mixed drinks were well made. Our server was absolutely lovely and she let us know all about the new owners and the chef who seems to take pride in his creations. They only use fresh food (never frozen). I had the veal scallopini with mushroom wine sauce and pasta. It was very good! The pasta sauce needed some salt and pepper, but I'm super picky about my pasta sauce. I over spice mine to death! I also had a caesar and a couple of "white freezies" which tasted as good as they sound. The atmosphere is great! Huge booths, beautiful bar, lots of TVs so you can catch the game, a pool table in the back with a digital jukebox and cool colour changing rope lights on the patio. Can't wait to sit out there when the weather is nicer! They even had live music. The washroom is basically still the same boring Park Place washroom with a few small updates, but I'm not there for the washroom atmosphere. Go check this place out!

The one thing we were shocked about was the quality of the food. We were short on time so I had a steak Caesar salad and my wife had the Cobb salad. The waitress did the bare minimum except to look pissed when I didn't order a pre- dinner drink. Drinks - a supposed nine-oz. glass of wine somehow magically fit into a five-oz. glass with room left over. When my wife looked at it, she said to the waitress "I ordered the nine-oz. size". The response from the waitress was "that is a nine oz.". So the place is charging $12.50 for a nine oz. glass, but only giving half that. Good money maker. And for a place that calls itself a full restaurant - only two wines by the glass, both cheap, under $15 a bottle wines? The food - bland, badly cooked. My sirloin was tough and chewy, the fries overcooked and burnt. My wife had chicken strips, but it took a lot of looking to find the little bit of chicken wrapped in all those bread crumbs. We skipped the dessert - by that time we just wanted to get out of there.
