Went here on a Friday night for dinner. I will not be coming back. Just based on my meal alone the French onion soup has the rosemary sprigs throughout the soup that I was picking out. I also ordered the prime rib sandwich which the waitress raves about. I ordered the sandwich medium and what I got was an over done reheated piece of prime rib. Their Saturday special is prime rib so I'm hoping I at least didn't have an almost week old piece of meat. Had the Friday night cod fish fry.large portions of firm cod deep fried in the perfect batter. I've eaten fish fry's all over Wisconsin, this is the best I've ever had .Three large pieces of firm cod battered to perfection. Tasty fries. Excellent, helpful and friendly waitress. The restaurant is tucked away, next to the cafe. Service is spot on. Very attentive and responsive. Nice ambiance. Was not crowded. There is a bar area. Full service in the main dinning area. French onion soup was caked with cheese which is nice. Lots of onions but broth was a bit salty. Calamari was light and not greasy. Love the peppers but not the sauce. The sandwich looks amazing but was too full to start. Had to take it with me. Will see if it tastes as good as it looks. read more

The chicken wraps were a bit dry, The broiled fish and mash were great, a healthier option for the fish and chip, and it tasted great! The steak was cooked well. They have great fish fry options. My husband got the AYCE option, and opted for the $5 traditional old fashioned to pair with it. I tried the braised ribs and they were cooked to perfection. Saw a post about a promotion at this restaurant on the Go Downtown Kenosha Facebook page and thought we'd give it a try. We sat at the bar with Kenny our bartender. Have been here a handful of times, and each has been marked as totally inconsistent in terms of items on the menu and consistency, as they always seem to run out of items (even pre-COVID), prep...food is always seasoned differently (salty, then bland), but service is ALWAYS friendly and very attentive. However, on the phone or through the hotel, the right-hand doesn't seem to be aware there is even a left hand, no one can seem to get the story straight on what is or is not available. In my opinion...This is a great place for a casual rail-type cocktail (not a craft cocktail!) and maybe an app, a burger, or a fish fry. All else is a roll of the consistency or availability die. After being seated at your table we sat there for nearly twenty minutes without a staff member even making eye contact with us, much less greeting us and coming to our table. The place was maybe half full and there appeared to be a more than ample amount of staff. We finally just got up and left and we had to find another restaurant for our Saturday night out. A place with this terrible of service does not deserve our business. read more

They have come a long way, but still have a way to go. They have some really good dishes, but others they should never make again. Best cheese curds hands down. Service is hit or miss depending who you happen to have as a server. There is what looks like an unfinished wall at the back of the dining room that seriously detracts from the look they are trying for. Add a nice fireplace on that wall is my suggestion. read more

Who the heck has prime rib in the Saturday menu with fries? They offer no options. Very disappointing.

A reservation was made for a birthday. It was a group of 8 and our reservation was made a month in advance. We ordered drinks and waited 25 minutes for our first round of drinks. We then ordered our dinners and ordered a second round of drinks. Our drinks came 25 minutes later. I shouldn't have to wait this long for drinks. This restaurant is not fine dining. If this restaurant is fine dining I shouldn't have to wait this long for drinks but here is the kicker.... The waitress came over and said the kitchen missed the fish dinner. So we all sat and waited for our 8th guest to be server. By the time the food came everyone's dinner was cold. This place is a shit hole trying to seem like a fancy place. Don't waste your money !!!!!! Lastly the ribs were trash. My 5 year old nephew could make better ribs. read more

Upscale, yet down-to-earth restaurant inside the beautiful Stella Hotel. Came in as a wedding guest that the hotel was hosting in their elegant ballroom upstairs. The entire venue was top-notch. The restaurant was very clean. Dim lighting. They offered bar seating, high top table seating, and a lounge area. Prices are a bit expensive but worth it for the atmosphere. Sat at the bar, with the gorgeous bartender. She made my signature drink very well, I was beyond happy. Definitely a fun experience, 10/10 recommend. read more

The food was good but the restaurant was mediocre, service was weird from everyone.. waited 10 minutes to be seated by a hostess, it was not busy it was basically dead. The servers all had weird manners.. the apps were okay. The 1844 burger was to die for. The crispy Brussels were also amazing. The server didn't offer dessert (we went across the street). We went upstairs to the crows nest? It was a great experience upstairs. The bartenders were friendly and communicating with us, there was lots of roof top seating and two fire pits. There are so many things to love about 1844 Table & Mash! The location, decor, cuisine and service were perfection! I have stayed at the Stella Hotel several times and always meet friends or family for dinner. Each time, our experiences have been wonderful. It is always relaxing and memorable. I invited friends from Milwaukee down and they too enjoyed themselves. Another time I invited friends from Chicago. They are a little fussy but raved about everything. My servers always impress with their knowledge of the menu and their personable yet professional demeanor. Each meal, I receive attentive and caring service, which makes or breaks a great meal. Went to The 1844 Table on Sunday. We arrived at 10:05 am. Brunch began at 10:00am. We were the first people to arrive. Our server was pleasant. The restaurant was clean. The brunch buffet was extremely disappointing. ALL the food was COLD. The only exceptions were the made to order omelets and if you made yourself a waffle. They had just opened for Brunch at 10:00am. How long had that food been sitting in the chafing dishes before we arrived? Yuck. The food should have been fresh and hot. Unfortunately it was not. read more

I'm looking forward to seeing this restaurant evolve into its potential as I really appreciate the repurposing of a historical building. A lovely job was done on that part. We had dinner here on a quiet Sunday night. Requested a booth ahead of time-- glad we did. The tables lack intimacy even when the restaurant is largely quiet. Our snug-style seating was great. I was a bit put off by the inability to confirm our reservation by phone in advance that afternoon-- each of three phone calls rang a dozen times and only led to a message that I was being disconnected. That's an unnecessary waste of my time in an age of voice mail. Given the young, inexperienced bar staff and lack of any written whiskey menu (you have to lean over the bar and almost squint to read the bottles), I'd suggest a repackaging from "whiskey bar" to "bar that serves whiskey," as the expectations of experience and publican knowledge that come with the former are wholly unmet. They have a decent range of choices but it's entirely up to the consumer to figure out the tasting nuances, something that is a bit unrealistic at that price per glass. Nice to have a chat with the bar man or bar woman when choosing. In short, it has a bar that offers several kinds of whiskey. If you have questions, Google the label and year. Period. My cauliflower mash was delicious, as it should be for $17. I appreciated our server guiding me away from another dish when I mentioned I love Brussels sprouts by letting me know it didn't contain the full vegetable. Disappointment averted. My boyfriend had the Stella burger and wasn't as impressed by it as former reviewers seem to have been. The Stellatini was fantastic! Pear Absolut really popped through. I think hiring a few staff members with more experience would go a long way on leveling up the venue so that the dining experience matches the menu prices. read more

Visiting on business. The 1844 was so inviting. The dining room was comfortable with tables for individuals and large groups. On a Thursday it was good to settle in with a good dinner. I order the beef filets - medium rare- with fries. The dish was amazing. The filets were medium, instead of medium rare, but tender and flavorful. The fries were fresh cut and crunchy on the outside with a soft interior. Just what I needed. For my cocktail I had a a great drink with Maker's Mark titled "Fool in the Rain." So good. I have had breakfast from 1844 and that included crunchy and tasteful potatoes. So potato lovers, this is a good place. The ambiance was quiet on a Thursday and just what I needed. We went for Father's Day brunch and it was underwhelming at best. Our server was lovely and very attentive. The omelet and carved beef were devine and it stops there. The tilapia was gross, the pork so very dry, bacon and sausage beyond greasy. The fruit was not ripe and as far as I'm concerned there were no desserts. If you call scones, muffins and a pastry dessert, you are wrong. The hotel is beautiful though. read more

My husband and I had a fantastic experience dining at the newest restaurant in Kenosha located inside The Stella Kenosha. The decor is a beautiful mix of old, vintage with a modern twist. We couldn't get over how cozy it felt and the chairs were very comfortable. We enjoyed the potato leek soup and I'm still craving it. We also had the grilled cheese and the Stella burger. The pork belly on the burger was out of this world. We ended our experience with a cookie of the day; double chocolate chip warm with vanilla bean ice cream on top. It's a welcomed change in Kenosha and we look forward to returning for dinner and drinks once the rooftop bar opens up. Our server was Kim and we can't say enough good things about her, the service and our dining experience. read more

Not in my recent past, or any time that I can remember , have I become so violently ill from a brunch. I mean this in so much the literal sense. My son and I had a rare day together this particular Sunday and were searching for a decent place to enjoy Mimosas and Bloody Marys along with decadent morsels. We happened upon this eatery seeing it was open till 4. This establishment promised an all you could eat buffet (served to you by a very sweet woman by the way ) Bottomless Mimosas and a great Stella Bloody Mary. That being said let's start with truth about the Bloody Mary. The cocktail itself wasn't horrid, it had a good balance of flavor although thicker than most I've had. The Garnish was huge consisting of a so called grilled Sandwich slider square , a pickle spear a green olive a mushroom a pickled pepper a jalapeño a beef stick and a bacon slice. That Bacon was rancid. It was cold and rigid with congealed fat and tasted like it had been leftover for weeks. The pickle was even rancid. I can elaborate more but I can't go on too long The buffet was ridiculous. The biscuits were literal bricks and the gravy offering was a bacon gravy that had a swimming pool of grease on top as soon as the giant sliding catering cloche revealed it. The scrambled eggs with cheese , although not dry were coated in a tasteless cheese and no seasoning whatsoever in the eggs themselves. Pretty certain these were not fresh cracked eggs The so called eggs Benedict with smoked prime rib was horrid. Served not on a muffin but a greasy hash brown square that reeked of old oil and coated your mouth in such an unpleasant way . The beautiful poached egg was the only star The salmon slider served on tiny toast squares were disgustingly fishy and incredibly dry to the point where you had to spit it out as to not choke. No one cared here about presentation or good quality. And the end of our experience, our server was no where to be found. We could have easily walked out without anyone even questioning us. But of course we didn't. There's more to tell but I can't do more because this would become a novella. After we left we barely made it back to my son's home where we both became very sick. Everything came up. Sorry. But it is so true. Probably my most memorable in the worst way possible from all my years of dining. Shame on you 1844 for what you do. You should truly begin caring before committing even an attempt to succeed. read more

I was very impressed with the beautiful atmosphere of this restaurant. I visited 1844 Mash & Table for a cocktail and light dinner. The decor is tasteful and upscale. It has a nice combination of vintage and modern. My garden strawberry fizz cocktail was delicious, as was the house salad. The waitress offered us a few rounds of either pretzel rolls, pumpernickel rolls, or focaccia bread. The menu isn't large, but it had something for everyone. I was happy to see a vegetarian entree, which looked delicious. The service wasn't fast, but it was friendly. I will definitely return to see how it develops. read more

We went here last night for a date night. Nice inviting atmosphere. Good bar. Good selection of beers, mixed drinks, speciality drinks, wines, etc. The service was good at the bar and dinner service. I would haved liked more menu choices. That being said what we ate was well prepared and tasty. My husband had prime rib which was prepared properly with a nice fresh steamed veggie mix on the side. I had a 12oz. New York strip which was excellent and perfectly medium rare and moist. They choose good meat here! Dessert was good as well. We would go back for sure. read more

I've now been to 1844 on two separate occasions and the food has been solid. The first night was Friday and the restaurant was out of the Fish Fry 15 minutes after opening. Bummer. Wisconsinites love a fish fry and hopefully the restaurant will prepare for that in the future. Dessert was delicious both nights! Burger with pork belly was phenomenal! Pappardelle with brisket wasn't good... brisket tasted burnt and sauce was weird in a bad way. French onion soup was amazing however the Clam Chowder had a strange consistency and tasted like can soup. Caesar salad with grilled shrimp was off.... greens were oddly really cold and shrimp were small and half done. Definitely not worth the hefty price tag! Pear Martini is good and Strawberry Fizz was refreshing. Deducted a Star because bread is not offered ... had to ask both times. That should be automatic with soup. read more

First of all, we didn't have to travel over 45 mins to have an extraordinary meal for our special 21st year Anniversary! This restaurant in the Stella Hotel in Kenosha was perfect from making our reservations on line, beautiful hotel and welcoming kindness of the Host and our Waiter who did a fantastic job! But wait, I haven't even gotten to the delicious, scrumptious, fantastic meal, starting with our Wine choice, the Crispy Stuffed Cremini Mushrooms that were unique and creamy good and the Shrimp Cocktail that was refreshing and wonderful, then, we both ordered the decadent Prime Rib, 12 oz for me and 16 oz for him! Cooked exactly as we asked. It was amazing and so delicious. Topped off, of course, with dessert, Old Fashioned Creme' Brûlée which made the whole meal come together nicely. What a great evening and can't say enough about our delicious meal. Right here in Kenosha downtown, we will be back and will try the rooftop bar next time and May have a glass of Bourbon or Whiskey. Would recommend this place for a nice evening and wonderful dinner. read more
