Having said that, this is a drinking and pool playing bar. We sat at the bar, and the waitress/bartender told us it used to be a strip club. There are no windows anywhere, so my wife had already predicted that. It was Saint Patrick's Day, so most of the patrons, and us, were wearing green. They had green clover wall hangings and other appropriate decorations. I thought that was a nice touch. Lots of locals, who know each other, hang out at this bar. They do allow dogs inside. The mood inside was boisterous and energized. Since it was St. Patty's day and we were in Texas, I ordered a Yuengling Black & Tan. This consisted of a porter mixed with premium beer. A clean, refreshing beer. After downing that, I ordered the ingredients to create a black trash. I poured a Guinness on top of MGD. You could substitute Budweiser for the MGD. This wasn't pairing well and the Yuengling was much better. I ended the night with a dirty blonde, Guinness on top of Stella Artois. Our waitress let me use a bar spoon to float the Guinness on top of both these drinks. The dirty blonde tasted better than the Black Trash and was more balanced. If you want some cheap drinks, friendly service and relaxation, than visit this local, "real" bar.

Rumors always feels like a fight is 2 minutes from breaking out to me. They have cheap drinks and yes, it's definitely the place to meet up with friends, so for a lot of people this is a major selling point. I just prefer someplace I feel like I can relax a little bit and just enjoy the company of friends. I never really feel that way at Rumors. Definitely an eclectic crowd though. You get gutter hippies and frat boys sharing tables pretty much here and only here. Hopefully you'll take this score with a grain of salt (and a lime) and read the review to decide if this place has what you're looking for. Meanwhile, you'll find me kicking back pitchers at R&R!

First, the (minor) dings: the area is literally in a back room, kinda cramped. No big deal. The acoustics aren't great, but again, I've been to worse! Long rotation? Well, yeah. Unfortunately, you have to sign up on a yellow tablet. Get over it, lots of people want to sing, and I had a blast when I did. My big problem was the KJ announcing on the mic that if you want to be "moved up" in the list, it would take a $20 tip. That's a bit much. I say this as someone who hosted for 13 years in Austin, TX. I've never heard of a host doing this, which knocks my rating down. Would I return? Probably, but I'll just get there earlier!

While traditional options like the Hickory Burger and the Green Chili Cheese Burger are stellar, the undisputed heavyweight titleholder here is the legendary Burger from Hell. I had to try it, my wife opted for the Chicken Fried Steak. Many approach the "Hell Burger" with great trepidation, expecting it to be more of a gimmick built strictly on painful, mouth-numbing heat.
