Delicious place. Fun atmosphere with live music, pool table, and plenty of space! A great bar area, certainly coming back. The liver & onion special is a treasure trove for the old man. I knocked some stars off because of two factors: 1. The perch dinner on a Friday around 5:30 pm was already sold out and 2. $8.50 for 5 jalapeño poppers is a complete ripe off. read more

I came here for dinner, the food was good, waiters were nice, and live music was great! This restaurant is nice in the inside, it has a pool table, darts, claw machine, and a shuffle board. Overall, good food (nice, big 1/2 pound burgers for a good price) and service. Nothing special but a nice place to have dinner. read more

An hour for a burger, and this wasn't during the dinner rush. Avoid unless you want to pay nearly $20 for a meh meal and a lukewarm apology.

Wow, what an incredible hole in the wall! The locals were incredibly welcoming and the wait staff was great. It's not every day that a group for a bachelor and bachelorette party walk in and order loads of drinks, but they handled us with grace and made sure we had full drinks. Came to visit during our vacation out crystal mountain. Service was good. Waitress was very kind and patient, I dined with my very indecisive 7 year old. Just had a fantastic perch dinner at 231 Bar &Grill. What can I say but thank you! Great service, wonderful perch, good atmosphere. Perch was plentiful and cooked perfect. Got food poisoning on valentines night from the steak. Three days of hell and lost income at my business and they didn't care.

Well, the last time my wife and I came here it was the Crystal Palace. The broasted chicken was the top item back then. Granted, It was no diner drive ins and dives back then and now it is under new management, and called 231. And it is still no diner drive ins and dives caliber! The place looks nice since they changed up the decor. We came in mid week, there was only ONE waitress and she took care of the bar and tables. There was also only ONE cook, possibly new at cooking. But I will get to that here in a minute. We had a beer while we reviewed the menu and what other tables ordered. We noticed right away that burgers were the special, but most of them were getting sent back to the kitchen as either under cooked or over cooked. We did see a plate of the old famous chicken dinner go out and noticed it was very very well done, as in burnt, So we decided to play it safe and ordered simple appetizers, chicken nachos and chicken strips. Can't possibly screw that up, right! Unfortunately, the nachos were more lettuce with stale chips and the chicken strips were extra crispy burnt. We felt bad as the waitress kept having to return other tables food. So we didn't bother to send ours back as we had a clear view of the kitchen and the cook seemed like she was over her head. Only reason I am giving them a 2 Star is how hard the waitress tried! I wish the 231 bar the best of luck, and may give it a second try if it's still open when we head back this way. If you do decide to drop in here, I hope you have better luck than we did! My personal note to 231: since this only 7 months since opening, I feel that you the owner should have a bigger presence along with additional wait staff and kitchen help would be a plus as well. Bar restaurants are not easy to run and they really need to make sure they know how to cook these meals properly and be managed much better. Just my penny thought. . Good Luck! read more

One of our favorite places to eat Up North and have a good time, the food is delicious and the wait staff are excellent and make for a wonderful experience.......... Unfortunately I would however avoid this place on Fridays due to the OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD music the DJ plays staring at 8pm right in the middle of dinner crowd. Although charismatic and good at working the crowd the DJ has no concept of volume control, I have sat many of nights and watched customers walk in and right back out ( myself included)due to the noise level, when addressed by the wait staff he will turn it down momentarily and then a few minutes later it will be right back up.The DJ is paid a flat fee and has nothing to lose based on his performance yet it's the wonderful wait staff and ownership that suffer week in and week out. A simple solution to correct this issue would be to have the wait staff control the volume level until food is no longer being served. If you want be able to hear the person sitting next you and or the wait staff I would AVOID this place on Fridays, any other day of the week I would give it 5 stars, Unfortunately Friday nights only get 1 star. read more

Here is a place you don't want to overlook, close to Crystal Mt and easily accessible from M-115. Newly renovated, clean, roomy but still cozy, plenty of comfortable seating at the bar, high tops, tables and "stage-lounge" area. REALLY GOOD FOOD, family friendly and very affordable. We stopped at this restaurant on Wednesday, July 4 we were there a total of 2 1/2 hours the air conditioning wasn't working very well it took us forever to get our food and drinksthat is because they only had one waitress working The owner needs to plan on being busy on July 4th holiday even though it fell on a Wednesday .The traffic in that area is busy and if the restaurant is going to be open they should be prepared to be busy I will say that once we got our food it was good but the wait was just so frustrating for ourselves and other customers read more

Attention Crystal Mountain skiers!!!! The 231 Bar & Grill is a great place to grab dinner and have a drink. We took our 3 kids there to watch the ND vs Clemson game and had a great experience. The food was fresh and the service was excellent. It's located about 4 minutes away from the Crystal Mountain entrance. I highly recommend this place. Enjoy!! read more
