They tried to sneak a 15% service charge on the bill and had the nerve of to suggest an additional 20% tip at the bottom of the bill. It was just 2 people, not a big group. Late evening mini meal for my family and I from one of my favorite spots where I can almost predict what I'm going to get and know that I'm going to enjoy eating what I order. Well the title of my review should be 45th Street Pub Gone Mad. I ordered the loaded pub fries. They looked good but someone unleashed the salt mines on it. Terrible! I ordered (2) side salads. They used to cost $5.00. They are now $6.99. They not only increased the price by $2 but they took away the boiled egg and Romain lettuce in exchange for countless and tasteless iceberg lettuce, no cucumber, or onion. Also the size of the salad was really small compared to what I generally get. This was a rip off. This is my last salad here. My most favorite garlic Parmesan wings in the world have increased by $10.00!!!!! Are they insane? I always order 20 garlic Parmesan wings costing me $20.99 plus $.50 extra per wing (garlic Parmesan only). They put up a sign that says they have had to increase cost due food prices. What I'm still paying the same code for wings. Why is their cost more to now charge more to the public? They now charge $29.99 for 20 wings. As Much as I love them, my every 2 week visit will reduce to once a month maybe once a quarter. I just can't justify the cost for what I rested for take out at a local spot when I could have gone to a restaurant and experienced full service and better quality food for what I spent here ($58.07 + $5 tip)! The ambiance is comfortable. The burgers aren't made in-house but they taste like they are. My drinks were accurate and tasted as they should be with balance. I had the burger and fries. Both were delicious. Siani, the bartender was wonderful and attentive. She also took my order and made sure she got it within 5 minutes. The owner also checked on me twice to make an appearance. This spot is o-k for simple convenience. The food is "ok" and the drinks are pretty good. Also, the staff are really nice and attentive. It seems like more of a place for locals. The ambiance is definitely lacking but if you're hungry or just want a drink and a friendly environment this is it. I was annoyed that one night I went and had to present ID to enter and I believe there was a cover, I can't really remember. But that's why I think it's a place for locals, I don't believe a business that is expecting customers from around the state or across the bridge is asking people for ID to enter, never had that happen before so I'm not real sure what it's about or why they require it. So I sat down to a sticky wet bar top, I pointed it out to the bartender, she let out a loud sigh and proceeded to wipe it down with paper towels. That should have been my sign to leave, yet I stayed. I ordered cheesesteak egg rolls which guess what... had no cheese. I was told the kitchen was closed and it couldn't be fixed. Let's get to the chicken wings which were almost the same size as my arm no joke, they were huge. Lacked flavor and were undercooked. The fruit flies that lingered were disgusting. This is a great pub I love coming too when I am in the area. It is very large with two separate sides. They have outstanding food, an extensive drink list, too include craft beer, and the prices are very reasonable. The portions are also very large. You will not leave hungry, this I can guarantee. The last time I was here I stopped in with my Girlfriend and my father to eat dinner after we picked out our Christmas trees from a local tree farm we have come too for years. You can come here for lunch or dinner with family or you can come here with friends for food and drinks, or solely a liquid diet. This place fits the bill for any of those adventures. I highly recommend giving their burgers and/or wings a shot. I doubt you will be disappointed. read more

I stopped by this place for the first time. I'd have to give the food, service, and value a bad grade . The soup came after the main course and I was forced to eat it with a teaspoon since the waiter never returned to the table. The soup seemed overprice a 5.99 for a tiny cup they call a crock. I've been here a few times now, and I must say each time gets worse! I first came to the 45th Street Pub maybe 2 years ago and I thought it was a cool place to get some wings and a drink to unwind! I have recently gone 3 times on a Saturday and once during the week. Saturdays seem to be the best time, as there is a DJ and seems to be a nice crowd. But what I do not like is when the DJ leaves the managers do not want to put on the jukebox in order for the people, the patrons to continue listening to music until the bar closes. They will literally shut off music off and all you can hear for the next 1.5 hours is everyone speaking. The bartenders can be rude, and they do not call last call, they imply it and expect you to know it's last call. It's a cool, neighborhood place, but not a place to frequent! read more

There really isnt too much in this area so if you had to choose a bar to stop into, might as well choose one that has a 3 hour happy hour and amazing wing flavors that you can mix. Came in for a bite because this was the only place we saw with a full bar. I will say that the food was alright and our server was busting her butt, but this place is mediocre at best. Last evening a friend and I went to the 45th street pub in Edgewater to watch the Cavs vs Celtics. I was told by the manager that he would not turn the NBA playoff basketball game on the television in the patio bar, because he has had people during basketball and football games in the past jumping the fence and bring lawn chairs to watch the games on the patio. I was one of four people on the patio wanting to watch the game. When just the evening before a small group of us watched a NBA playoff game in that same place on the patio. So this policy has changed in one night. The 45th street pub are not allowing certain people to watch certain sports in certain places at this so called sports bar. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

What happened? Before the Pandemic this was a nice place to hang out. Everything has changed... New management, no entertainment, no daily food specials, select happy hour beverages... and they give you a bill but won't give back any change. They round your money up to the nearest dollar. In the days and weeks leading up to my ten year high school reunion, feelings of dread mounted in a crescendo of anxiety that had me strongly considering one last game of hooky for old time's sake. In the end, curiosity won out. Fortunately, I was already several beers deep after having attended the Flyers game that afternoon, so my jitters were under control by the time I met up with friends. The bar was easy to find, located just off 130 in the area around where Holiday Lake used to be. "Class of 99" signs beckoned from the doorway; 'twas time to meet my fate. We entered a private room just off the main entrance, where a few other classmates awaited. The room was appropriately sized and had several set tables on the outskirts and a bar on the left side of the room. Honestly, it was much nicer than what I had been anticipating. Small talk was a little painful at first, and we retreated to the bar in silent agreement that drinks would be lovely. The bartenders must have been aware of the awkwardness, because wine pours were on the very generous side. In no time, the room was filled with familiar faces and socializing became surprisingly easy when it was realized that everyone felt equally hesitant prior to the evening's festivities. As with Jim H.'s experience, the social cliques still existed, but the lines were much more blurred than they had been back in the day. Of course people still gravitated towards those who they felt most comfortable with, but that was to be expected. Happily, (most) egos were checked at the door. Midway through the event, I realized I hadn't eaten anything all day and decided to make my way to the buffet line. There were several options and everything looked fantastic (as food often does to a tipsy, hungry girl). I opted for some salad, penne and vodka and a piece of chicken. Everything was prepared well and very good overall. In the end, everyone had such a good time that we all went back to our town bar for a little afterparty action. I never expected to say this, but I'm glad I went and look forward to seeing everyone come together again in another ten years. The night would not have been so seemless had it not been for the staff at 45th Street. I'd recommend holding an event in their private room to anyone who needs an affordable option without compromising quality. read more

I get it. You're in new Jersey, so maybe you think that no one will be shocked by your poor service--wrong. I came to this very failed "upscale dive" to meet 3 others. I was greeted by a soon to be absent waitress with the specials. I was told "all Three Olive Vodka is on special." I say to my very blonde waitress " Great, can I have a vodka tonic, please?" To which she responded in sheer bafflement " what flavor of vodka do you want with that?" Now maybe I'm old; maybe she is a moron or both but what flavor of vodka typical goes in a vodka tonic? In irritation I said "Vodka flavored Vodka." Now here is where things get good she proceeds to not-so -artfully explain they don't have vodka flavored vodka, but do have fruit loop and whip cream. Maybe she didn't understand. But what I don't understand is how she thought her suggestions were close to my wants or that either of those would go well with tonic. I ended up with a two dollar miller lite and tried to keep my distance. Keeping my distance wasn't hard since she must have had the same plan. Getting another drink proved challenging. Getting service for the members of our part who straggled in was impossible. She was even slow to bring the check. While the place does have some nice takes on bar food like Philly nachos ( a cheesesteak dumped on chips), the service is poor, the drink selection is aimed at making already delicious alcohol taste like a child's birthday and the music is awful. Save yourself the time and frustration by sitting at home with non-bitch flavored booze. read more

All the critical reviews are balls on accurate. The food is very decent. Drink specials are very good value but the service is total crap. Nasty attitudes from the 'hostess' to the waitresses, to the bar tenders, to the managers. I've been here probably 20 times. It's a cycle.. Decent experience, decent food, ok well go back. Then it gets worse the next visit, might go again. Then it turns horrible where you're yelled at or ignored, or something. Give it 6 months and rinse repeat. Shame two because the other 45th st is solid. And Throwbacks is one of my favorite places. But apparently the co-owners have too much negative influence here. read more

I drove back to NJ to explain that the Crab cakes may be bad..The Barmaid was very Nice...as for the Owner...send an Inspector to check out the Kitchen... when I told him about this situation..He said No one else complained...I was not complaining , I was letting him know 3 people were Sick from what we ate there.... New kid bartender.... No meal set up, had to ask for condiments.... He wanted to small talk but not serve professionally THEN after waiting 10 minutes ( there were three of us in the building for lunch), my soup and sandwich came together .. I asked for him to keep the sandwich and fries warm, big surprise, when they came back post soup the fries were cold. I tried speaking with the manager Bobby, who became quite defensive. He stated he felt offended because I criticized the quality of the food.
