The meat in my tacos was barely lukewarm when they got to the table, which was weird to me; even when I get shrimp tacos elsewhere (when the shrimp isn't fried), the shrimp is at least warm. The first thing to note is that this is still a smoking allowed bar. In Lafayette, there is absolutely a place for a bar that allows smoking inside. Be advised, if you go in, you will absolutely notice it as soon as you walk in the door. I only say this, because, the bar was full of regulars that the bartender knew all of their drink orders when they walked in. The crowd seemed friendly. This is the type of crowd, that walks in and places their cigarettes on the bar and in 10 minutes may smoke three or four of them. There are approximately 20 seats at the bar. 18 of them were occupied and we were the only two that were not smoking. Again, if you do not like a smoking bar, this one is a tough one for you. All of the above is not to dog bar being a smoking bar. It is just more of a warning or a heads up. Nothing seems to have changed on the inside with new ownership. It looks exactly like the old bar. In the middle of the horseshoe bar there is a stainless steel prep- type table. It would be a good location for a liquor storage area. However, it just collects random things like napkins and purses and pens and whatever. The liquor bottles are up against the wall and the beer bottles that tell you what beer they have, are around the corner. My wife ordered the tacos and I got a chicken quesadilla. She really really enjoyed the tacos. She told me they are some of the best that she has had in town. She will probably order them to go at some point in time in the future. My chicken quesadilla was chicken and cheese and the chicken was very bland. The bartender asked me about it and I pointed that out to her. She said that's why these random sauces are given with the food. There was not any salsa offered at the initial delivery of food. Again, for what it is, it is a great local bar. If you want a smoking bar with a regular crowd with food that looks really good in person and on their social media, then Martha Local Bar is a good place to go. Just be advised that if you do not like a smoking bar, this is a bar that you can't even hide that it is a smoking bar. You can smell it from outside the front door.
