We got here at 6:00pm not very busy. Took about 5 minutes to sit us. Then we waited about another 5 to 10 minutes for menus. Ordered our food. Table that came in after us about 15 minutes later got their pizza right away. We ordered a pizza and a ceasar salad. Finally got our food 1 hr and 20 minutes later. Pizza was warm, nieces salad was missing the pesto. Maybe it would have been worth the wait if the food was good but it sadly wasn't. Very mediocre. Oh yes and another table had to tell the waitress another table hadn't even gotten their drinks. Definitely would not recommend. The service was painfully slow with only two other tables seated, we stood at the host stand for 10 minutes to be seated (no one else was waiting to be seated), didn't get a menu I had to go get one from the bar. We ordered and it took a long time for food to come. Flies were buzzing around our heads. Our food came and the spinach dip had a fly in it. I sent it back and they just rinsed the veggies and gave it back to us, the bread for the dip soggy from the rinse, and the bug still there, staring at us. Sent it back again and the manager came over to apologize and made the kitchen make it again from scratch. Still wouldn't recommend this place! read more

Nice historic building. A big menu with a huge variety. Nut Brown Ale cheese soup is our starter. It was a flavorful soup with crisp popcorn topping. The consistency was thin, yet richly flavorful. No glomming cheese in this bowl! The special was outstanding. A crisply coated Cajun flavored fried chicken with home made cornbread and a coleslaw with pineapple. The bourbon brown sugar garlic honey was superb. Seriously wonderful. The Northwood salad was huge and filled with crisp apples and so much more. Our service was attentive, pleasant and food was prompt. There are three doors to this unique location and much more seating than we noticed at first glance. You really must try this food. read more

First, there are two or three restaurants in the front of the main building and we had no idea which was which. We ended up here in "The Alley". Confused on if it's a sports bar or a brewery? Music playing and nobody was sitting at the bar? Wings were not breaded were rubbery I just hate that! Very expensive for "5" wings- unreal! The sides were different, I had a cup of butter with garlic and a cup of parmesan and red sauce. If you like Mac & Cheese this may be your spot? The mac & cheese selection looked very good. We used to go here once a week when we lived in Ashland. We were able to come in again on a family trip. The fish and chips special was exceptional. It was probably the biggest and best Lake Superior whitefish I've ever seen. My husband was literally like "my fish and chips experience is never going to measure up anywhere else". My griddled max n cheese was tasty. The clam chowder was delicious. My son's kids mac was fantastic with fresh fruit and waffle fries. The beer (hazy) was great. We had a lovely server (whom I remember from before). Thanks for reminding us how much we miss this place! read more

There was mold in our pretzel appetizer. They did take it off our bill and offered a fresh version when we were halfway through our main course but we had no desire for it. Even the one piece that wasn't moldy was bland and dry. Service was ok but not awesome. Our main courses were great; kids meals were average but with exceptional fries. read more

Had the pizza buffet. Reasonably priced but didnt like that we got seated upstairs. Pizza 1/2way decent (remember, im from chicago and have high standards). Started off with the beer cheese soup which was outstanding. Had jalopeno cheese curds which were decent. Other items in the buffet were salad, ribs(ok), chicken which was decent, they were out of crab cakes. The buffalo mac n cheese was excellent. We arrived on a Saturday June 8th, roughly an hour before their closing time. We seemed rushed throughout the dinner, with the staff turning off lights while there were still 4 or 5 other tables with customers. Our cups of soup were hardly room temperature, and the wings didn't have any sauce. Not wanting to send food back, I requested a small side of the Buffalo sauce so I could add it myself. We were then charged for extra sauce. When we asked about the extra charge, we were told that even though the sauce was to make up for the un-sauced wings, (ordered traditional wings with their buffalo sauce) we still had to pay the extra charge because it was still considered extra. This experience was a stark contradiction from our typically wonderful food and service from the Deep Water side of the restaurant. read more

First of all, the service is top notch! If it weren't for the casual setting, you'd think the waitstaff was trained at a 4 star restaurant. They are attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Second, the mixed drinks are delicious! You've got tok try the Chemequa (spelling?) Tea, made with cherry puree, cherry vodka, gin and rum! Yum-mers! The clam chowder is a thinner variety, but is fill of all sorts of deliciousness! The Big Popper macaroni and cheese is spicy, creamy and delicious. The Wisconsin patty melt has delicious onions and two types of cheese. The BBQ chicken pineapple pizza is something I wouldn't ordinarily order, but was so glad my nephew did. This place is so good we went here twice in our weekend get away in the area. First came here on Saturday night for a quick bite to eat. I am a sucker for brew pub and this place is the best of all of it. The bartenders and locals are hilarious and welcoming here. In the first visit I tried the nut brown ale and bourbon wings. The wings were cooked perfectly with the best light sticky sauce. I also got a side of blue cheese and dipped my chips in it. Yum. The ale I had was a great classic brown ale no crazy flavors and very smooth. The second night for the Super Bowl we ordered all sorts of delicious appetizers (onion rings and cheese curds) as well as two types of giant pizzas to share. The margarita pizza we added arugula to and they gave us balsamic drizzle for it. It was heavenly and they even gave us a take out container of the drizzle. The pepperoni pizza was just as delicious. Their pizza is amazing! I had the alt bier that night while watching the game and it was rich and flavorful. I am very impressed by this place! Came to town for business and found this little gem that delivers. The menu variety is nice without being overwhelming. The Whitefish BLT and the Tai Chicken on Chibatta are delicious. I'm looking forward to trying more items on the menu this week. The delivery person was friendly and fast to my hotel. Prices are reasonable, portions seem average at first but are very filling. It's refreshing that they use eco friendly delivery containers instead of styrofoam or plastic. I would not recommend this place for delivery or take out. In the last few months they have managed to screw up 5-6 orders that I personally know about where I wrk. Today an order was placed at 11:13am. It was delivered at 12:20pm which was already 20 minutes over estimated time. Part of the order was forgotten, they were called and they said they would send it right out....it was a SALAD....it took another phone call and a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes to get a SALAD and a refund in the form of a gift card that I do not want to have to order from there again to use.
