We had breakfast here 2 days in a row, while we stayed in Ashland for 4 days. On the first day our server was named "Pickles". I had eggs, hamburger patty, and bacon. My wife had a skillet. I am on a restricted diet. My wife liked hers, and I really enjoyed mine. The second time we went I had the same, and my wife had the 2x2x2. Mine was good. My wife's was very large. The pancakes were very large, and the sausage was good. The restaurant was a typical small town ole-school eatery. Our servers were great, and Being this was a very small town, I think it was very good. We would definitely eat here again, if we are ever through this part again. read more

My friend ordered the 2x2x2. Which was eggs, sausage and pancakes. I ordered French toast. When our order came his order was messed up and no pancakes. So he order had to be refried. The French toast was just bread dripping in eggs. Chef please look up a recipe for French toasted his order came, he liked the sausage but the pancakes were not great. The place is dated and needs some new decor. read more

In fairness, I didn't get to try the food, but was disappointed nonetheless. I called the day before and spoke with two people who told me that not only did they have lake perch for their Friday fish fry, but that they were open until 7:00pm on Friday for that meal, despite what the web site said. Great spot for breakfast! Place was packed at 10am on a Sunday, but the girls were running around making everyone happy! My husband and I sat at the counter, and our waitress entertained us the whole time. She's great! Pouring coffee while ringing up people's bills, carrying 6 plates at once, greeting customers coming in the door, thanking those who are leaving, all while joking and laughing with everyone. Great experience! I ordered the Western Omelette with sourdough toast and a small pancake. My husband ordered sausage, eggs, hash browns, toast, and sausage gravy. Excellent food. Family style restaurant with a great view overlooking lake superior. This is a must stop on my trips to Ashland.

So as the other post say. This place rocks. You won't leave hungry. Recommend this as a great dinner. I could tell while being here it's a fav of the locals. Robin our waitress has worked here for 11 years and must be who others have mentioned in other reviews. There is a fancy restaurant across the street that looks good but the hour I was here the lot remained pretty much empty. Hope to come back this way sometime in the future and will make a special stop just for pie.
