It's 7-17-26 and with new owners things are absolutely great. Had really good breakfast, perfect French toast, bacon good and crispy, eggs just the way i like them. Had their Meatball Monday lunch special, i could not believe how good those are ! It's my new meatball Monday thing i will be doing. Also their Broasted chicken is fantastic , had that with garlic potatoes ( great taste ) & mashed potatoes and chicken gravey perfect. Only 1 thing i have negative to say, the paper they use in their take out orders seems to fall apart fast and mix in with the potatoes so be careful, but it's still great food. A classic, old school diner, complete with corresponding prices! Our waitress was friendly and offered suggestions, the food came out hot, delicious, and quickly. We opted for the house chili as the side to our sandwiches and it was perfect with a hint of spice and full bodied flavor! Okay, it's not the fanciest/newest place on the lake...but it does deliver good food at a reasonable price. Lots of locals eating here today when we had lunch. Picked the Swedish Meatball Special for lunch but I thought I would just snack on my hubby's lunch. When the kind server heard that she must have known I was more hungry than I realized. She had the kitchen split the order into half-this was MORE than enough for us! I haven't met a Swedish meatball that I haven't loved! Great view of the lake from our table too. I ordered the two coneys with curly fries. The menu said 1/4 lb hotdog, which was a lot! The bun they are served on is different than any hotdog bun I've had. It's almost like a hoagie bun. It was very good, just a lot more food than expected. I would have been good with just one. The service was ok. The guy seemed occupied with other tasks like cutting fruit at the counter. He ended up forgetting my friends soup he ordered. The bathroom was really gross looking. Overall the experience was meh. I probably wouldn't return if I come back to Ashland. read more

This is a perfect small town eatery. It's a bit sore on the eyes, but the food and service are wonderful. The price is low to moderate and allows the customers to get exactly what they want. All sorts of food are available throughout the day. Do you want chicken tenders for breakfast? They can do it! Do you want a Belgian waffle for dinner? They can do that too! The fries are deliciously crisp - my personal favorite. If you aren't interested in crisp, maybe don't order the fries. This is a pretty typical local diner. The food and service was good. They were short staffed and one of maybe 3 restaurants in the whole town that was open at 6pm on a Sunday. Even still, we got our food fairly quickly after ordering. I had the spinach and chicken salad (+cucumbers) with the raspberry vinaigrette dressing. It was really good! It had mandarins, craisins and almond slivers. A+! I also got a cup of soup, cream of chicken and wild rice - it was just ok. My husband got the grilled ham and cheese with the beef and bean soup and enjoyed both. read more

The food was ok. Our meal wasn't served all at once which is a pet peeve of mine. Serve everything at the same time. We had to ask for our drinks twice before we got them as well. Waitress was unmasked while serving us the other waitress was masked (thank God). They do have it every other booth which was good. This restaurant has an extensive menu. We stuck to the basics and were rewarded with solid diner food. Chocolate chip pancakes with toast and bacon - large, tasty portion. Good place to eat! You can tell it's a local joint, we were definitely some tourists in there, however the staff is all so very kind and pleasant. I never had to ask for more coffee, the waitress kept making rounds and had perfect timing for everything. We both had the chicken cordon bleu skillet-YUM! I have never had a skillet like this before and it was phenomenal. They have a ton of options in the menu and I'm so glad I tried that skillet. They have great toast options as well, and everything is fairly priced. My only reason for knocking it down a star is the cleanliness of the building-a little older and a bit dirty but the service and food definitely made up for it! I would eat here again! read more

Full coffees at all times. Granted it's church basement coffee, but the servers are quite friendly. We came here for breakfast. It's a traditional joint. I figured good enough for filling the belly when on the road. Well that's about all it did. My Belgian waffle was OK, but the strawberry topping was surely from a big industrial sized can. It didn't fill me up either, so I ordered blueberry pie. It was too starchy, not bursting with that blueberry flavor I was craving. Others in my party had eggs and sausage. Nothing great. In fact KP said her scrambled eggs were rubbery. I'm of the opinion, "How can you screw up breakfast?" I still stand by that, but when in Ashland next time I'll try someplace else. read more

zero stars if I could! Went here for lunch on a Friday. Dad's fruit cup arrived with a sad and deflated grape hanging from the rest of the bunch. Disgusting and never should have been served. We should have taken it as a sign to move along but we waited for the rest of the meal against our better judgement. Dad's meatloaf was "just ok" and Mom's egg dish seemed alright. Brother's "patty melt" was the grossest thing he'd ever seen, and sent it back in disgust. He described the texture as somewhere between liver and baloney, and it "tasted very old". My whitefish sandwich had the soggiest piece of lettuce I've ever seen, draped over a piece of breaded fish that was as limp as the fries. The staff is friendly and waitresses very hard working. Nice family atmosphere and a great place for everyday people of all ages. Especially enjoy visiting with their many elderly customers. I am a regular for these reasons. The downside is the uneven quality of cooking. From one day to the next you never know what you will get. Very attentive and friendly waitstaff, good hearty american breakfast . . . try the smother hashbrowns! not crowded, but busy . . . clearly a favorite among the locals.
