Since my earlier review (02/27/2025) our Friday night dinner group has gone back to The Angry Chef numerous times and have yet to be disappointed. The food is outstanding and in ample portions, The Angry Chef is a family restaurant and the whole family is involved, and they are super friendly, witty, charming, and they work so hard to please everyone. Our waitress is almost always, Lola, one of the daughter's working along with her sisters and her mother, in addition to Dad the chef. We absolutely love Lola and she always remembers the drink orders of 8 and sometimes 9 people without fail. More important like her sisters, mother, and father, she is always pleasant, cheerful, and delightful. The whole family has a wonderful sense of humor, and we never fail to have a good time. I strongly regard The Angry Chef as the best family Italian restaurant in the Hudson Valley and I enthusiastically recommend it! read more

A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I did some apple picking Saturday afternoon at Dubois Farm and had a great time. We even attended an evening mass at the nearby Catholic Church. Afterwards we were quite hungry and The Angry Chef was next door. It was 5pm and we decided to go try it out. Yelp had good reviews and we were looking forward to an Italian dinner. However, it didn't happen. We thought it was early and would do a walk-in dining. Unfortunately we were denied because the hostess said that they were all booked for reservation until 8pm. We were shocked because we can see that there were plenty of available tables and the parking lot had only 3 or 4 cars there, so we highly doubt that nothing was available. Too bad, we were just visitors from of town just looking for a good place to eat diner before driving back to NYC. read more

Huge, huge portions! The angry chef was definitely super generous with the ingredients!! I really liked the flavors of the chicken piccolo, but wished it was less salty. The sunday sauce pasta was also a tad salty to my taste. Other than that, everything was perfect. They have some good wines (ample portions, too) for sure. What a great family operated restaurant. I wish every place was like this. Amazing food. Friendly service. Huge portions. Great prices. And it even has a great backstory. The sisters and their dad work the front and back of the house. Our meal started with warm bread and an olive oil infused with rosemary, garlic, olives and some other things. Both the bread and olive oil were amazing. We ordered 2 apps and a side of broccoli. The apps were the stuffed long hots and eggplant rollatini. We finished about half of each app. They were both delicious but we were trying save room for our entrees. I ordered the broccoli for my kids and they enjoyed it but only ate about 25 percent. It was a huge portion. For our entree we ordered chicken rosseli for the kids and the stuffed porkchop for the adults. Omg this stuffed pork chop was crazy. It was one of the biggest bone in chops I have ever seen. It was topped with a mountain of mushrooms, onions, and peppers. We could only finish about half. We packed our leftovers and took it back to our hotel. It was enough for a second meal. I don't know when my family will be back in this area (since we live 2,500 miles away) but I definitely recommend the Angry Chef to everyone. read more

We just had take out from the Angry Chef. I had the chicken francese and my husband had chicken parmesan. Both came with linguini. The chicken was very tender , the tomato sauce on the chicken parm and the lemon sauce on the francese were both delicious. I would say it's the best we have ever had!! We were in Marlboro for a long weekend and found this restaurant on Yelp and OMG what a fabulous experience! The food was phenomenal, we had artichoke and fried gnocchi as apps and for dinner, seafood Michelangelo, another linguini dish with lobster, shrimp and clams, pork chop and eggplant parm and everything was outstanding! The service was super friendly (the whole family works, and they're absolutely adorable!), and the decor is nice. 100% recommend this place: generous portions of a phenomenal food! read more

Went for Christmas Eve dinner and everyone raved about their food. Prices are a little high but portions are large. Wine and bread was good. My only issue was that the veal lombardy was not fully cooked by the bone which I didn't realize till I got home. So if you get this cut off some by the bone. Mushroom sauce was excellent though. Portion was huge though. No other complaints by the 5 others I was with. read more

I love this place and I've only been there once. My daughter and I had an outstanding New Year's Eve meal, the service was top notch and friendly, the decor was also really great. I was greeted by name at the door. I was the only 6:30 reservation, but she was paying attention. If I had to complain about something, and it's a huge colossal "IF", I would say the food was a touch slow to arrive, but well worth the wait. I graduated from the culinary institute of America, so I know what I'm talking about and I highly recommend this restaurant. Also the Fresh in house baked bread was delicious. read more

I've been to so many places in NYC where I've paid triple the amount and get half of the quality that the Angry Chef offers. A Gem! We crossed the Hudson to this new restaurant, and were blown away by the quality of the food! Gracious service and the best Italian food we've had since A Tavola Trattoria closed in New Paltz! My husband had the Chicken Piccolo and I had Chicken Classico Francese, and they both were cooked to perfection! We both had side salads with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella balls, dressed with a lovely balsamic. We shared a vanilla-specked Gelato and got a slice of chocolate mousse cake to take home. There is no liquor license yet, but I had a blood orange Italian soda. This is a family-run restaurant and such a treasure. We are so lucky to add this to the other great restaurants in the Hudson Valley! We went on a Tuesday at 7 o'clock...it was packed! That's how good it was! read more

Lola was a treat to work with; she answered all our questions and helped us judge the appropriate amount of food to order based on our party size. This was the first time my girlfriends and I ate at Angry Chef and all I will say is the food, service and ambiance were amazing. Did not disappoint at all. They sat us upstairs where they have stars and shooting stars on the ceiling. And a super plus was the BYOB!! Definitely a must try. read more

Im not easily wowed, but this month-old Italian spot is excellent in every way. The food was, in a word, superb. The menu offers many options. I chose the "Chefs Special Sunday Gravy". Special indeed! A LARGE bowl of perfectly cooked pasta, topped by yes, Special Gravy and loaded with sausage and fantastic homemade meatballs. The chef cant be too angry if she can cook like this. Any Nonna would have been proud. The service was terrific. Everyone working there had big smiles the entire time, they all seemed very happy to be working there, and they made me feel very welcome. The place is not large, but it is very cute and comfy. And the prices are very reasonable! I live almost an hour away, but it will be a regular spot for me. It will be for you too. What a great find! The Angry Chef is located in a strip mall, but don't let that deter you. When you walk inside, it has great ambience. Very cozy, comfortable and much bigger than I thought it would be. This is no pizzeria, but a true restaurant. The service was five stars! When we needed something, staff was right there to assist, but they were not overbearing. I swear they knew just went to come to the table, but allowed my friend and I to have a private conversation without interruption. Lastly, every single item we order was delicious! The bruschetta appetizer was enough to feed four and was one of the best I've ever had. I had a lemon chicken dish which was delectable, and my friend had pasta with homemade vodka sauce, which she said was amazing! Servings are very generous. I had to return within the week as I was craving the bruschetta and my husband and I had the same wonderful experience. My wife and I just had one of our dozen plus dinners at the angry Chef. We are of Italian descent and we know what good Italian food tastes like. The food here is basic Italian with a flair, prepared by a 20 year old chef who knows what she is doing! Last night, a Tuesday, was a real treat, not the Friday and Saturday crowd. We had the artichoke, with a light cheese stuffing, nothing like we have ever tasted before, an arugula salad that was so large we could not finish it, and their regular eggplant parmigiana - one of 3 or 4 different styles on the menu, and a side order of meatballs. EVERYTHING WAS PLENTIFUL AND EXCELLENT. I had written a review back on 12/31/2023 and our opinion has not changed - fabulous food, very reasonably priced, and terrific friendly family service. They treat you like you are special, and requests like a different sauce or pasta from what is listed on the menu for that dish is an easy choice. "I was Angry the night was over!" The recap: Went with friends last night, my first time. Very cozy and comfortable. Opened the night with apps. Calamari so light buttery and oh so good. Ordered the VODKA FRIES. Again ordered the Vodka Fries and my god it was all I thought about through this morning. Soooooo good! It's now in the top 5 items to have late night after going out with a beverage. A must to add on Door Dash. Had the Sunday Sauce and this baby is available every night for good reason!!! It was spaghetti with home made meatballs, sausages plus the sauce. The portions just about on everyone's plate could be for 2 people. Presentation was oh so clean. I took bite number 1 and my brain screamed to have bite/taste number 2. I was teleported back 40 years to my mother's Sunday dinner. So good, so fresh so amazing. It beat me as I had to take half home. But wait there is more!!! Dessert- tiramisu light fluffy and tasty. The family service was amazing!!! What a phenomenal restaurant The Angry Chef is!! Before even getting to the food (which stands in a class of its own), the family that runs the restaurant makes you feel completely at home. My girlfriend and I have been there with multiple sets of family and friends. I am AMAZED that each time the experience just gets better and better. It is our regular Friday night date spot and is currently a BYOB. The service and ambience make for such an enjoyable night! Then, there is the food!!! From appetizers/main course/dessert, they do a phenomenal job. The portions are huge and provide you with plenty of leftovers. We are addicted to their vodka sauce and they also have the freshest of seafood dishes. What a delicious and delightful variety of fare. Hearty fresh Italian food with a pleasantly packed friendly clientele happily eating the stunning dishes being served from this kitchen. My son and I loved the calamari and I fell hard for the Chicken Classico Marsala and it was not the typical over sauced mushroom tossed affair but a love letter for traditional flavors in a rich mushroom light sauce that highlighted all the flavors. My son, 31, had the Chicken Sandwich with Vodka Sauce. Through his sighs and Mmmmms I understood him to be thoroughly enjoying his meal. What a great new restaurant option up 9W past Newburgh. First of all, it's in a small strip mall, which you would not expect to be a great location or great tasting food. We were surprised at the upscale feel and how busy it was when we entered. Super friendly staff and super cute place. As I was listening to the wait staff, it turns out they are all related...children of the family. We sat upstairs, which was a really cool space with a bar. It looked like they were still waiting for their liquor license to come through because they weren't serving any alcohol. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable as the seats are made of some sort of woven reeds on the seats. My butt cheeks were pinched between the frame of the seat most of the night which made it a little bit uncomfortable. However, the appetizers and food were amazing! We are picky on our red sauces and the Sunday sauce was one of the best I've ever had. The eggplant rotini was incredible. The only thing that was below expectations was the service. Very slow. Perhaps that's because they are just opening. We will be back! Oh, by the way, be prepared to take some food home. The portions are ridiculously large. One last thought... They have a fish and chips which I didn't get because it was $45 due to the caviar mixed in with the tartar sauce. I wish they had a fish and chips option that was cheaper without the caviar.
