    Small pizza!

Amazing food and quiet comfy ambiance in a casual Italian dining spot tucked away in a random part of the Hudson Valley. Thank you Jennifer for recommending the pizza Lina -- I still have dreams about it.

A friend of mine Jennifer told me about this restaurant. She knows I like independent restaurants that have been around for a while and have a old style feel inside. I went to the walkway over the Hudson on the Poughkeepsie Side. The restaurant was just about a minute and a half drive from the walkway parking lot. I arrived about 4 PM. There was nobody in the restaurant yet but there were people in the back kitchen area. A gentleman came out and smiled and said hello how can I help you. I said I'd like to have an early dinner. So he brought me over to one of the nice booths near the window. The inside has a nice old town feel. Frank Sinatra was playing in the background. Perfect music for this restaurant. You felt like you are stepping back in time to the 1950s and 60s I decided to order pizza as this was recommended. Put in a ordered the large size with meatballs and mushrooms. The pizza is square not round. So it's not the traditional Neapolitan style. But it's not thick crust Sicilian. Decided on garlic bread with cheese for an appetizer . After about 18 minutes my pizza came out. It was served on two different pans. One the side with mushrooms the other meatballs. The crust was indeed very thin. But not too thin that it didn't support the sauce cheese and toppings. It was a very good proportion of everything sauce cheese and mushrooms I. Very good flavor of the sauce. It was sweet but not too tangy and didn't overpower any of the other ingredients. The cheese was tasty and the mushrooms we're just right. I enjoyed the meatball topping. My only complaint was that they could've had larger slices of meatball, they had a good flavor and you could tell they were freshly made I was talking with the gentleman who was one of the owners. The restaurant has been around since 1929. But he's owned it since 2001 They are now open Wednesday through Sunday. From 3 PM to 8 PM Wednesday through Saturday and 3 PM to 7 PM on Sunday. I came back the following week and ordered veal Parmesan hero. It was cool that day so I ordered some soup, the beef barley vegetable soup. The soup was delicious. They make everything fresh so I waited about 23 minutes to get the veal Parmesan hero. It looked quite nice when it came out. The hero was toasted perfectly. The bread was not too heavy and nice texture kind of light. The veal was very good nice and tender no toughness, easy to chew. That's a sign of good quality veal I can definitely recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere inside is very nice. This time they had an Italian singer a woman singing over the sound system. The service was excellent as well. The lady who served me her name was Jennifer. Now this is a good excuse for me to get some exercise by going for a brisk walk across the walkway and then having a early dinner. I will definitely get the spaghetti and meatballs next time I go.

Hidden gem right by the walkway. Food was good and reasonably priced. I ordered a lasagna - flavor was spot on just needed more sauce. Service was a little slow, however, there was only one server. would try it again.

It slightly pains me to write this review, as my first experience at Cosimo's was soooooo good…read more Let's get on with it tho. We visited on the Friday before V-day, the house was packed around 18:30. The wait was 45 mins which wasn't too bad for a Friday night. We decided to wait in the lobby after trying to find a cozy waiting spot near the bar and missing. My wife attempted to order me a mocktail, but of course the bar was crazy busy. When the bartender finally acknowledged her, the mocktail requests obviously threw the bartender for a loop because I ended up with watered down ginger beer and a sprig of mint. My advice for anyone looking for a virgin drink at this bar would be to order a club soda with lime and call it a night. We were seated at the 45 min mark, and were escorted to the packed bar, where they have some exterior tables for diners. My seat was in the middle of the couch split, which I found mighty uncomfortable so we opted to request a seat in the main dining room, which the staff happily obliged. With dinner we ordered hot tea and were given lukewarm water and a choice of Stash teas. Our beverage experience here was very disappointing. The calamari arrived and may have been the only highlight, although we didn't find it to have that fresh calamari texture. My wife ordered a ravioli with mushroom, and felt the pasta and veggies were just swimming in butter. I ordered my steak medium and it was okay, but the juices from the greens made the croquettes soggy, and unenjoyable. The server did his best, and all the staff here are so kind. Coulda been an off night but I doubt we'll be back anytime soon. The Mocktail Madam.
