We've eaten at this location numerous times and sadly the wait times are always too long. We made a reservation online which was probably a mistake because not speaking with someone didn't warn us that a reservation was useless. We waited a half hour standing waiting to be seated but were asked to have a seat at the bar before the table was set.. of course you feel obligated to buy a drink. Finally, we were seated and waited for someone to take our order.. The service was average and the waitress kept apologizing. Sadly, the owner just walks around and chats with his "regular" customers. They never had the decency to "comp" at least a glass of wine..that is just poor customer service. the food took forever to arrive and it was average. A shrimp Parm dish was 5 little shrimp on a plate covered in sauce. Probably not returning to this establishment!! read more

Quaint unexpected gem. I was in the area for business and thought I'd pop in for dinner. It was truly a wonderful experience. The owner is third generation and very welcoming and service on point. Food quality / price (value) rating 9. The atmosphere is contemporary Italian with plenty of beautiful woodwork. A white tablecloth semi-formal kind of place with a typical Italian menu with a few interesting twists. Service began with some of the best homemade rolls I've been served, which also included a roasted eggplant and olive oil. For an entree I had the Oricchietta, a sausage, broccoli rabe and pasta dish, and substituted angel hair for the Oricchietta (little ear) pasta. It was presented very nicely and the portion was large, and it was hot - which is the only way a pasta dish should be served. It could have used a little more garlic or some fennel or other spice for additional flavor. The wife had the angel hair bolognese which was also a large portion, served hot, and was flavorful in her opinion. Our server, Eljon, was very attentive and personable, 22 years old and quite attractive (ladies). The drinks were generously concocted and the prices were fair. We'll definitely return read more

Things started promisingly enough with a delicious freshly made burrata and warm, buttery rolls. The burrata was exquisite, with the cheese running out as soon as it was cut. We looked forward to our entrees with great anticipation. Next to arrive was a complimentary salad coated in a white dressing, which we mistook to be Caesar. It was not. The unidentified sauce was weirdly sweet, even though our tastebuds wished for something salty. A few bites were all we could muster. After some pause, the entree arrived. My partner's veal Marsala came with a watery sauce and the flavor of Marsala wine was lacking. My eggplant parm was a hot mess with far too many undercooked eggplant slices layered on top of each other and covered with an enormous amount of tomato sauce. The cheese topping slid off this pileup immediately. It was not my dream version of this dish. The side of spaghetti that came with the meal was surprisingly delicious with the noodles perfectly coated with the tomato sauce. We both felt that if we had ordered the spaghetti as our entree, our ratings would have skewed higher. read more

We came here with family to celebrate the holidays and my birthday on a Friday night. When you first walk in, it's nice and warm in a small cozy restaurant. It's so nice and cozy. It is loud in a packed restaurant way which was a little difficult for people with hearing aids. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and very accommodating. Our waitress, Danielle, is a warm and friendly server. The food, hands down, is the best locally. Starting with even the bread basket...the bread is addictive and the oil dip has delicious flavor. You can tell the oil has been infused with garlic which is amazing. We ordered the espresso martinis which were delicious and boozy, yummy yum. I ordered the spinach egg drop soup which was good but kinda bland. The crabcakes were AMAZING! They were not oily and heavy but filled with delicious big pieces of crab. The best I've had anywhere. I ordered the whole wheat special which had delicious dried tomatoes, chicken, and red pepper flakes that sold me right away. It comes tossed in oil. Hubby got the Veal Saltimboca in brown wine gravy which was tender and full of flavor. He order the risotto which I thought was okay. I personally would have ordered the pasta! The Sea Bass was the special and it was a beautiful piece of fish nice and hot. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Laconda's and can't wait to introduce this restaurant to more friends and family. read more

Not recommended. I try not to go to Italian American restaurants. I'm Italian, no I mean real Italian. Not born here and my parents owned, what else, Italian restaurants. Raised on real Italian country food. I love to cook. We cook every night. So yes our standards are high. I've been disappointed with Italian food in restaurants before and this is just another. Veal Saltimbocca.. pre cooked veal that was badly breaded. Prosciutto that disappeared since it was of poor quality. A sweet Marsala wine sauce that was swapped over everything and overtook the dish. They claimed it was a brown wine sauce? Sage, where. Just bad. The special pappardelle dish was way over cooked and had no umami whatsoever. The rest of our guests at the table did not enjoy their meals. Cute interior and service was fine but doesn't make up for poor food. Btw, if a restaurant can't spell classic Italian dishes on their menu what does that tell you. If that's the case, does the owner even know what's happening in the kitchen. Rhetorical question. Don't come if you are in a hurry. But that is a good thing here at Locanda, you are allowed to succumb to the Italian ambiance, it means that you are definitely in New York ;). Everything at this restaurant is romantic classy, from a long brick wall, white linen, soft lighting, candles on each table, Italian theme paintings, waiters in long black aprons to the china and to the menu. I never learned the name of our waitress, but I know she was a sweet professional one. We order one special of the day, the scallops on spinach risotto that I found extremely delicious, unique. We were a party of four, each plate got compliments, but nothing like the sambuca that one of us got, it was enormous, creamy, tasty. We shared a fig gelato, yummiiiieee. Putting all together, we had an experience, the timing in between meals as I said was paused, we had time to enjoyed ourselves, we had a Christmasie magical dinner accompanied by Sinatra's songs. read more

The food was good and it's a nice interior space but there were a few sloppy things worthy of note- a. online prices about $3 lower than actual- that should never happen. b. not all menu items online are available at the restaurant. c. inattentive service- an empty soda glass prompted no ask for a refill from the waiter and the bread took forever before it showed up. d. too many waiters serving one table, meaning no coordination. e. no fault of anyone's but the space holds too many tables, and it gets very noisy very fast. I was not expecting this place to be THIS good because of its little reviews and the meh quality pictures on yelp, but here we are. I ordered takeout on a Friday night through the phone, and it was about a 45-minute wait which was long but bearable. The guy at the front desk was also a little lost: he repeatedly had to confirm what I said and asked if I wanted bruschetta with chicken? But anyways, that was super minor and I'm knit picking. I got Fresh Bruschetta, Penne Alla Vodka, Grilled Chicken Salad, and Bolognese. I don't know if it's just takeout or it's applicable to all the pastas, but my penne alla vodka had a HUGE portion size and too much to eat in one sitting. Some pictures I saw showed a smaller portion plate, but the meal that I received contained so much pasta. Same with the bolognese. Really worth the price tag for this. Not to mention how delicious the pasta was and how it was loaded with so much flavor. The bruschetta was light and crispy, I really enjoyed the tasty toppings. I also didn't even know it comes with garlic bread/knots and salad with every entree! Cozy restaurant in Main Street Fishkill. Been there for many years and seems to have many patrons welcomed by the owner. Our waitress Danielle was very professional and always smiling, informing us of the Night Specials. The salad was kind of non wilted, non descriptive, actually I would have like it , colder and crispier. The hot little hot rolls brought to the table almost immediately were very tasty with the tastoil dip and made up for it! I ordered one of the night special; your choice of pasta with shrimps ( nice fat ones) broccoli, anchovies, hot peppers, mushrooms in a garlicky light sauce, truly a delicious meal that came pipping hot. My husband ordered the veal Marsala a delicious sauce and a copious portion of veal, also served with your choice of pasta. Well as per yelp, this place is located in a busy street. I've been to a lot of Italian restaurants and have to admit this was no different than any other. The server was kind and went through the menu specials. As for the ambience of the place. Well that's a different story. It was slow when we got there. Trattatora Locanda is my go to restaurant for special occasions. The atmosphere is beautiful and classy, the service is top notch, and the food is delicious. This Italian restaurant's key note is their yummy, creative specials, especially their steaks. As per my company, the steak was phenomenal with a garlic butter on top and the most delicious potatoes ever. The sautéed spinach was delicious as well. The shrimp marinara was mediocre and needed a special added flair. One suggestion I offer is for the chef to be able to modify their specials to accommodate a dairy free alternative. Respectfully, one more recommendation: if the owner is walking around greeting tables, it might be good for him to check on all the tables, not just a select few. Huge thank you and big recommendation for Trattoria Locanda. I set up A lunch for 16 people as a memorial for my parents who passed away last year. I set everything up over the phone from another State and it went perfectly. First off when looking for a place to have this in Fishkill I spoke to several restaurants. Many did not offer group packages. In fact one place not only did not have a package rate. They went as far as not even be willing to over their existing lunch menu for a 1pm event. Trattoria Locanda had fantastic menu options and allowed my guests to pick from 4 different choices. The package included salad, entree, pasta, dessert, soda, coffee and tea. The food was fantastic, portions were generous. In fact the side pasta was penne Ala Vodka and it was the best I have ever had anywhere. The dessert was homemade tiramisu. The staff was fantastic. The even allowed us to set up a small tables with photos of my parents. They did not rush us at all. If you are looking for a great Italian meal for 2 or 22 I cannot recommend them enough. We chose this restaurant after driving to the area from Virginia for the Hudson Valley Bagpipe Championship. I had tried other restaurants in the area during a previous visit with family. My wife and I stopped in at 7 pm on a Friday and the restaurant was still half full with patrona outside at tables. There was a buzz in the establishment due to the loud discussions. We were given a table quickly and the waitered on promptly. The waitstaff could not have been nicer or more attentive. We were served drinks and bread and told about the specials. Unfortunately, after my wife placed her order for one of the specials, Scalops, she was informed that the kitchen had run out. Thought frustrated, as she was really looking forward to the meal, she ordered an alternative. We shared a appetizer of fresh mozzarella. Then my wide had the lobster ravioli and I had the breaded chicken and shrimp with broccoli and mozzarella. We finished the dinner with dessert. I had a cannoli and my wife had the frozen gelato. Waited a long time before we had to ask someone for the wine list and then actually get something to drink. We arrived about 5:45 and waited - yes.....1 hour and 40 minutes for entrees. We were starving. Apologies from the waitress but a free glass of wine would have made this review better. We noticed NO ONE was getting food. Honestly the food was great. But maybe we were so hungry anything would do. I mean we started eating at 7:20. Rule of thumb. When food is very late, think about how you can keep a customer - a free glass of wine - or a dessert - something to indicate you understood you were not providing a great experience. ......would make us consider a return because of the food. Decided to eat al fresco at the Fishkill Rock around the Clock event. Never tried trattoria Locando, pass it every day going to Route 9. Ordered the mussels fra diavalo and an antipasto. The antipasto was supposed to have prosciutto in it. It was American ham, provolone, and Genoa salami rolatini, pepperoni, mozzarella, drizzled with balsamic vinegar. No prosciutto in sight. Showed it to, I think the owner, he apologized and brought over a few slices of prosciutto. The mussels fra diavalo wasn't spicy at all. Overall it wasn't a disappointment but it could've been better. Had to remind the waitress to refill the water glasses. Asked if they had granita. A refreshing coffee ice dessert. On a hot and humid evening a perfect finishing touch. They didn't have it, and the waitstaff didn't know what it was. read more
