It's different a fusion of industrial and East Asian chic. Very, very nice! We were immediately greeted and provided with a seat I love Indian food, but I wasn't familiar with some of the dishes so we tried a few different things. Everything was delicious! The chickpea stew, puffy bread, and samosas were my favorite! The sauces were all delicious as well. What a wonderful little gem! I wish I lived nearby. I would be here every week. We had the opportunity to meet the chef. He was so humble and friendly. We told him how much we enjoyed the food, and he seemed genuinely pleased to hear it. They have absolutely no intention to satisfy customers, ambiance is well just tables and chairs with some posters. I have been to many restaurants where food is not that great but the customer service is top notch and for that I give them credit, but at this place they turned out every small request we made for food for our small kid, we didn't ask for anything for free, we asked to customize, which they straight turned down, they have nothing that is kid friendly here. No way I am recommending this place to anyone. If you are the owner, please contact me. I am really interested in knowing what is the logic behind your strict policies :)

The ambiance of the restaurant is a bit of mixed bowl, too small of a place, so definitely need reservations during their busy times. Of course the staff were helpful in finding us a table without a reservation after a brief wait. Place can get very loud during their busy times as the restaurant is very small. They do have an extended dining area but not too much of a space there either as it was filling fast. Coming to the food and service, Tapri's food was the best vegetarian food we had in the neighborhood. Not just the taste but their fusion varieties were too good to pass.

It looks like a chain, which always puts me in a different state of mind, and I was a bit disappointed this might be the case with Tapri. There was one spot open in the limited parking in front of the place, so I took that as a good sign and went in. I sunk a bit more to find the room cold and uninviting. Uh-oh. I was the onliest person in the joint. Uh-oh X 2. I kept coming back to the Yelps indicating the eats here were pure money. I sat down. Weird way of ordering, basically they send you to a Doordash-type thing to order on your fone, then they bring it out. Uh-Oh #3... Well... Started with "Paani-Poori" Appetizer, then "Andhra Gongura Masala with Lamb" and Garlic Naan. The Paani-Poori came out in a distinctive setting, and the youngish girl showed me the proper way to consume, as I had never came across anything looking like this. It was totally fab and totally unique! OK Tapri had my attention! Almost immediately after the Paani came to the table, my Mains showed up. The table was almost too small to hold it all. (perhaps this was consequence of the strange way of ordering. As the Gongura looked and smelled excellent, I decided to treat the starter as a "side dish" and plowed ahead. That Gongura was TOTALLY yum. The Lamb was perfectly tender, and legitimately HOT. So many places claim their foods are "Hot" , but they are selling culinary wolf tickets. Same thing with the Garlic Naan-a lot of places SAY "garlic" but there's barely a whiff in the final product. Not here. The garlic note was strong, just the way I like it--and it was a perfect pairing with the Gongura. I et all the protein, and poured the remaining curry over the basmati in a "to-go". I wasn't letting any of this get past me. (it was fab the next day as accompaniment to a grilled hanger steak.). No refills on the Diet Coke, but a small gripe in face of the great cuisine. It wasn't cheap, but I din't mind the tab, as the feed was so fine. The service was warm and personable. In sum total, one of the best Indian feeds I ever had. Throwing 5 well-earned stars. I'll deffy be back! Just shows to go ya, you can't judge a restaurant by it's facade (or lack of it)

When I look at the menu, I try to look for dishes that I've never had. I know our waiter suggested butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, but those are the most popular safe dishes for non Indians. I say safe dishes because your average American that walks in, is not going to order something that he/she doesn't know what it is. We ordered chicken 65, kashmiri naan, spinach chicken, kadhai lamb, and tandoori shrimp. Just a FYI, the water bottle(s) that come to your table are $2 each. They're not free. Portion sizes are average. Prices were fair. Service was great and attentive. Usually, there would be parking in the front and back. However, for some reason they were both full and there were barely any customers inside the restaurant. You can also park at the nearby parking garage (top level). That's a 2 min walk. -chicken 65 5 - this reminds me of a Chinese dish but I can't remember. I'm talking about the texture when you're eating it. As an Indian appetizer, it was delicious and would pair well with rice. Very addicting to eat. -kashmiri naan 5 - it has a mild sweet taste that is good with savory dishes. A mixture of dried fruits, coconut, and maybe nuts. -spinach chicken 5 - chicken was very tender and the sauce was flavorful. Very safe dish to eat if you're not that adventurous. -kadhai lamb 5 - the sauce has a more bold flavor than the spinach chicken. The lamb was very good. -tandoori shrimp 5 - Just a warning but this is kind of spicy especially for those that can't handle spicy foods. I like that the shrimp are prawn size and they were very tasty.

Agree with the others that the prices are on the higher end but the experience is on the higher end too. Service was friendly and attentive. While some of the spice flavors were vibrant, the actual quantity of meat was shockingly minimal. The chicken entrée had only a few small strips of chicken, and the lamb dish came with just one small lamb shank. For the price point, the lack of protein felt disproportionate and misleading. If you're ordering lamb or chicken expecting a hearty portion, be aware -- the quantity is very limited. The papad and paneer appetizer was overly rich and not very balanced, and although the concept of house-infused liquors is creative, the cocktails themselves were underwhelming. We spent about $300 on two drinks, two appetizers, and three entrées (one vegetarian), and left feeling that the value simply did not match the portion sizes. Fellow diners should know that while the concept is appealing, the protein portions are notably sparse for the cost.
