This review is strictly for the Wednesday Concert Series. Concerts are held mid June thru mid August every Wednesday from 630pm-830pm. Their is plenty of parking but it does fill up quickly! Bring your own chairs or blankets but coolers and tents are not allowed. No pets are allowed. There are a few food and beverage vendors and prices are average. They packed the place for the concert on the green. Parking was a challenge. Canned alcohol, beer soda and water was available to purchase. Lots of people were eating carry out food from area restaurants. The band could be heard even as far as Giostra's patio. We enjoyed BonJourneyd as they covered both Bon Jovi and Journey hits. Nice way to spend a beautiful summer evening. Three more concerts left here for the season. See their website for details. read more

The Arboretum of South Barrington is a great shopping center. Every time I go there I find something new. I love the variety of restaurants that they have there. Georgio's is one of my favorite pizzerias. Wok N Fire is a great Asian restaurant. Have a sweet tooth? They have taken care of with Smallcakes and Scoops Society. The last time I went, they had a cover band performing for the shoppers. I can't wait to go back and see what I can discover next time. read more

The Arboretum of S.B. has become one of my favorite places to come on the weekend and take a walk outside, especially in 2020. If you walk the entire outer perimeter you can easily distance from others, get in some exercise with plenty to see and stop for coffee or a treat afterwards. Even though there still seems to be several vacant buildings here, there's plenty of free parking, restrooms nearby and I especially love that The Arboretum is pet friendly too. Calibre' is a great place for unique and rich coffee. Try a lavender latte! If you're craving something sweet, stop in Small Cakes or Anna Shea. read more

We ventured out prior to the cold and freezing temps! We got to just walk around and they decor was gorgeous! They have out did themselves with the amount of decorations! The castle was beautiful but it was very snowy to get to! We miss the skating rink and wish they would bring that back! However, the service at the little hot chocolate booth was phenomenal and they had a selection of drinks! I hope you'll venture out and even grab a movie, shop, and a cocktail! I really like the Arboretum. I mean, the shopping is a bit weak in terms of store selection, but everything else is GREAT: the restaurants, the entertainment and the seasonal fun. There are good, and ever-changing, promotions and contests, plus the pop ups. Today my son and I hit up the skating rink. It's expensive, but so what. You could skate all day if you wanted so your money is what you make it. The rink isn't very big, luckily today it wasn't overcrowded. It was snowing, eventually an annoying wet snow, but it was awesome for us. We were prepared with plenty of clothes and ready to give skating a try. My biggest complaint is that they are set to close on MLK Day, why?!?!? The cold is just beginning. I hope they change their minds in that. We also love Pinstripes and all it has to offer. So although I don't do my shopping there, we are actually frequenters of the Arboretum. read more

I really enjoy coming to the Arboretum. There is an Classic Car Show during the week throughout the Summer. You will find a fruit market on the weekends on the far Northwest corner of the complex. The fruit market has some great deals and being local, I feel like I'm helping out my neighbor. There is a theater somewhere in here that I understand is very nice "dinner and a movie" theater. Parking throughout and restaurants too. They are still leasing out some stores, but it's certainly filling up fast. A smart store owner would get a chain restaurant or shop in there and FAST! This area is becoming more and more popular and the whole intersection is building up. (Am I starting to sound like a realtor?? I'm not.) There's a vibe that South Barrington has-- it's upscale and swanky. The Arboretum of South Barrington lives up to the town it's in. Relatively easy to get to and park in, there's so many things to do here. It's home to eateries like Coopers Hawk, Georgio's Pizzaria and Pub, Anna Shea's Chocolates and Lounge (just google their drink menu-- amazing!) and the Hampton Social (new as of this writing). For those looking for a casual bite, there's also a Panera, Potbelly Sandwich Shop and the cute and unique coffee shop Calibre Coffee. (Check Calibre's hours before you go- they're very limited!) There's also a Pinstripes, where not only can you eat, but you can also play bocce or bowl. It makes for a fun date night or girls night! The Arboretum has a movie theater, too. While I usually hit up the Arboretum for food, there's a good number of shops, mostly clothing/women's interest. They have mall staples like Frencesca's, White House/Black Market, J. Jill, Victoria's Secret, DSW and Talbots, to name a few. They could use a few unique stores to keep it interesting, but by no means is this a bad selection of stores to wander through. All in all, this mall excels at having good options for a night out, especially when it comes to food! read more

I'm not really a shopping kind of person, but I actually like the Arboretum. It's a small-ish outdoor 'mall' with attractive buildings, a decent courtyard, and a good mixture of chain stores and local establishments, some a bit more upscale than others. The only downside is that it's kind of confusing to navigate as you're driving around for the first time, looking for a specific store. Once parked, this is a nice spot to walk around, especially in warm weather or when the holiday lights are out. And best of all? No crowds! Just to name a few places: you can visit Anna Shea Chocolates to Calibre Coffee to Charming Charlie's to Sur La Table to Wok n Fire to Yankee Candle and to DSW and so on. There's a fancy movie theater, a couple steakhouses, and of course, Pinstripes -- restaurant, bowling, and bocce all in one! I hate to sound like an advertisement, but there's a store for everyone at the Arboretum. It hasn't disappointed me. read more

I L-O-V-E this little outdoor mall!! It's just got a nice "feel" and ambiance to it. It's nicely decorated, and a smudge upscale in it's design/layout. They've got a couple really cool anchor-stores, and a whole bunch of other smaller stores. In addition, they've got movies, bowling, a few dining options, and a Homegoods. Everything is quite spread out, and there are multiple different "buildings". Here are the main things I'm willing to drive here all the way from Buffalo Grove for: - L.L. Bean - IPic (upscale Movie Theatre) - HomeGoods - Sur la Table - Pinstripes (upscale bowling) It's fun to come here and walk-around. Or to hit up the movies and then grab a bite to eat. I just recently tried Georgio's pizzeria and was happily surprised. It's definitely worth checking out! It never really seems overly busy or crowded, and there's always parking spots! And although it's in the fancy South-Barrington area, these stores are the average stores - they are not out of my league. HIGHLY recommended. read more

Located a short 5 min drive from my apartment straight down 72 we have the beautiful outdoor mall the Arboretum. If you are into high end shopping, and don't mind paying Pentagon level prices for your merchandise, this place might just be your cup of tea. The property was obviously developed specifically to cater to the abundance of new money that is everywhere in this part of Chicagoland, and the list of vendors is a veritable who's who of top shelf retail. The property grounds are aesthetically pleasing, with fountains, brick walkways, sculptures and landscaping that would put most PGA level golf courses to shame. Parking during peak times here can become nearly impossible, as lines of new Mercedes, BMWs and Land Rovers jockey for position in an almost competitive fashion. And, No, turning your blinker on to indicate you are taking the spot of a backing out vehicle will not stop some jagoff from trying to swoop in and take it anyway. Leave it to this part of town to turn parking into a bloodsport. As you might expect, prices here are through the roof from most of the vendors. You can manage to score a deal or two if you hit the sales and are a dedicated shopper, but not anything you can't beat online. Probably the biggest draw in this place is the iPic Theater which is about the best moviegoing experience you are going to find anywhere, but it also comes with a very hefty price tag. read more

I love this little outdoor mall tucked out in South Barrington. For shopping purposes, it never seems too crowded. Come here at night and the restaurants fill up quickly. I love the beautiful setup of the mall and would come here more often if I still lived out this way. I know people keep saying they are higher end stores, but there is nothing too expensive here. It is similar to Deer Park mall. I especially love the restaurants here. There are more independent places like Anna Shea Chocolates to check out here as well. Check it out! I could have swore I wrote a review for this shopping center... Those who know me know I dislike shopping & the thought of having to go to the mall causes me to run for the liquor cabinet (I highly recommend a glass of wine prior to going jeans shopping, ladies ;-)...). But if I must go shopping I prefer outdoor malls so I can at least enjoy the fresh air & nice landscaping, and hopefully reward myself with some al fresco dining in the end. Having spent a few years in San Diego while I was in Navy I am somewhat spoiled when it comes to beautiful outdoor shopping centers so I will admit, the bar is pretty high. The Arboretum was built on land which used to have a horse farm & a tree farm. They have paid homage to these by planting a variety of trees throughout the property (the center has only been open a few years so give the trees some time) & they have several nice statues of horses scattered about. The landscaping is nice, but I would like to see more flowers around in the nicer months. They have a variety of stores & some you can't find elsewhere without driving quite a distance in the 'burbs such as Sur la Table & a huge L.L. Bean (okay, I don't mind shopping for kitchen stuff & kayaking gear...you caught me!). I'm a big fan of the Anna Shea Chocolates here & on a beautiful Sunday morning you just may find me & the hubby enjoying several mimosas & brunch over at L'Eiffel Bistrot & Creperie. And don't even bother with a regular movie theater anymore - just spend a couple extra bucks for an immensely better experience at the iPic theater here. They have concerts here on occasion, a famer's market & also an antiques/flea market regularly as well. read more

The Arboretum looks great, but can be difficult to navigate. It's an outdoor mall, but not one that you can park in one spot and then shop around at. The parking lot is oddly shaped and winds around the stores, making it hard to find particular shops unless you know exactly where to go because you've been there before. And you have to drive to each store because the buildings are far apart. With all the corners, it seems this parking lot is a crash waiting to happen. The lot is also lacking in handicap spaces. The stores and restaurants themselves are nice, but are definitely aimed at the "Housewives of South Barrington." There's not much for your average guy, unless he likes L.L. Bean. But there's plenty for women and moms, including a high end preschool at one end of the mall. Drop off your kid and go shopping! If you're rich and connected enough to get your kid in, that is. There are also conservative soccer mom clothing stores, salons, spas, kids clothing stores, kids hair cut places, my newest fav chocolate shop, some mid-price eateries (panera, noodles & co), some higher end restaurants (nozumi, cooper's hawk winery), a hidden-yet-over-priced movie theatre, and an odd looking place called Pinstripes that made me do a double take - it advertises it has italian food, bowling and bocce ball. read more

A nice outdoor shopping center. While it isn't completely full yet, what it has to offer is quite nice. Need something to eat? You have many options here - $ and $$$$. Need some clothes for the kids? You could some here. Need to get your spa on? You have a couple to choose from. Good luck trying to find your way around, though - it is very difficult to navigate. I sooooooo want this shopping center to succeed. I hope they get more tenants and do more events/activities (don't get me wrong - they do quite a few but I don't hear about them unless I'm driving by or actually look on their website to see what is going on) that will draw a lot of people in. read more

I love how they decorated the area, and some of the stores that are in there are not as scary on the cost scale as you would think. Some of those stores and restaurants are an excellent value! Sitting at the pizza pub, and viewing the water fountain in front of the iPic Theater's is really serene. The downsides are that a good number of the stores are waiting for new merchants. I hope to see this place fill up to at least 90% so I can just plan to take my girlfriends for a day at the Arboretum. Wonderful location that needs more foot traffic to ensure more great merchants come to this location! read more

Variety of dining and entertainment options for close to home night outings and decent shopping if you do not want to drive down 90 to woodfield mall. Restaurant options include fine dining, casual chain spots, Italian, Mexican, Asian fusion, French, and Pizza/American. Nearly every sit down venue also contains a decent sized bar perfect for a quick drink where you wont have to worry about having to push and shove through a crowd to get your drink. Shopping has several stores for women's fashion as well as home goods/kitchen, sports paraphernalia, furniture, and cute chocolate/dessert shops. In the winter time there is a large ice skating rink and during the summer there are several events outdoors that incorporate the businesses which offer decent deals. read more

I love outdoor malls, especially one like this where the grounds are very nicely kept. A wonderful mall, very unique! It is an outdoor mall, the only one I know of in the area, with a very classy, charming feel to it. The stores are mainly natural, earth-friendly alternatives to the big stores we see in the suburbs. Always very clean, parking-a-plenty, and best of all, dog-friendly! I love the idea of bringing my furry little friend to shop with me, getting her out of the house for a while. All the shops are comfortable to visit, with great people, a delightful atmosphere, and very unique items and ideas. A little more expensive, but the quality and care is worth every penny! read more

I absolutely love the Arboretum. There are a variety of stores here whether you're looking for clothes or furniture, the restaurants are abundant and fun, and the atmosphere is beautiful, especially in the summer when the fountain is open and running. During busy hours parking can be a little difficult, and you might have to park a little far and walk a bit ... but I've never not been able to find a spot, and I come here a lot. I don't agree with some other reviewers that the shopping is particularly high end or snobbish. It's really not that much different from the store selection you would find in Woodfield Mall. You get stores like CVS, Claire's, DSW, Black House White Market, etc. OK, it's not discount shopping, but it's fairly averagely priced, mall-type shopping. The place I visit most here is probably iPic Theatres, which if you get a (free) membership, isn't that much more than AMC, and cheaper for 3D movies as there are no surcharges. read more

So we decided to do a fun New Year's Day outing to the ice rink at the Arboretum mall. NEVER again. The Ice conditions were dangerous! You couldn't skate. Just shuffle your feet and hope not to fall. My husband who plays hockey fell and he never falls. We were only on the ice for 15 minutes. I know it says skate at our own risk but they're putting people at risk by having the rink open like that. They had no problem taking my $56 though. They tried to fix the ice but after waiting 45 min we left. read more

This mall looks great from the outside but it has tons of high end stores that are just impossible to shop in unless you got tons of money. But then they got those cheaper stores so everything seems to be from very high to very low. Not many stores in the middle. But they keep the grounds nice and i appreciate that. Looks like they are still hurting for business because looks like tons of new space still have yet to be taken over. read more

The Arboretum is a beautiful shopping center that is kinda far out in Schaumburg. They have a bunch of higher-end shops. It's set up like a strip mall that curves around like crazy - I agree with Joy G. - it can be hard to navigate. There are maps around to look at, and there is plenty of parking. It's fun to walk around on a nice day and take a peek in the stores. They also have a few nicer restaurants, a spa, and a bowling alley near by. My favorite shop here is Anna Shea Chocolates. read more

The Arbortum is outstanding. The shops are great. Everything you want for gifts and personnal needs. The restuarants are excellent as well from french bistro to steaks to a Panera Bread. This is a great place to spend time or pick up a quick item. Enjoy. read more
