So happy to have an Aveda salon in Fremont. The products are safe and plant based. Teresa does my hair color. Over the years, I have had different lengths(including a buzz cut in 2016 that I did not regret) and styles done here but have always been wary about coloring as I figured natural is best. But age and grays won't wait for any woman! And suddenly you are looking like your mom in the mirror. I am not ready for that!!! Aveda hair color products are gentler on the hair and scalp. Teresa, the owner spends time asking questions about the right shade and color.. She will tell what would be good, but she is not pushy. I love the cozy space and the tea is always welcome. The resident dog is adorable and I am happy to say that I have been accepted as her friend. We are buddies now. I know this isn't about the actual service but the restroom is clean. Hear me out: One can get a quick read about an establishment by the cleanliness of their restrooms. And this one gained my confidence. Better to call and schedule appointments ahead of your preferred dates. They'd accommodate but are usually fully booked. Teresa once took me in and fitted an appointment before an important meeting where I needed to look my best. But would definitely recommend scheduling. The Aveda products are not cheap but totally worth it. The salon doesn't pressure you to buy them which allows me to kind of browse and research before I buy them. All in all, a welcome ritual every 6-8 weeks. Although sometimes I let go and only schedule after 3 something months but am restored after those pesky silver roots magically disappears. I came in hoping to ask a few questions about a hair consultation and whether they work with texturized hair. Unfortunately, my experience was very uncomfortable from the moment I walked in. There was a dog in the salon that barked non-stop at me and my 6-year-old son, which made us both feel unsafe. When my son, out of curiosity, reached to pet the dog, the stylist snapped and yelled at him, which felt unnecessary and upsetting. I understand boundaries with pets, but I also believe animals that are not friendly shouldn't be in a public business space--especially one open to walk-ins and families. The overall energy made me feel very unwelcome, and I chose to leave quietly rather than escalate the situation. I would caution other potential customers, especially those with children or from diverse backgrounds, to be mindful before visiting. read more

I had such an amazing experience at this salon. I booked my appointment with Melissa a few weeks ago. I received a follow up call to confirm my appointment and was able to set a time the day before for a consultation. The appointment time I booked was only for two hours as it was a general hair color and I wasn't sure if I wanted to do something more specific at the time of booking it. After the consultation, I decided to go for a balayage with a darker natural tone. Unfortunately the time I booked was not enough to cover the whole process. Melissa was amazing, made sure I did not have to reschedule for another day. She worked with Erin to split the work, and managed to squeeze me in and get me out the door with a beautiful balayage just the way I wanted! Melissa took a sample hair to check if she can lift the color without bleaching prior to my appointment and it made everything smooth sailing on the day of. They are an awesome team and are very hospitable. They made sure that I was comfortable the whole time! Mind you, the process took nearly four hours and I felt right at home. The products they use are not harsh for your hair and almost odorless compared to regular salons. I highly recommend this place. Look for Melissa or Erin! read more

I moved to Fremont 2 years ago, and needed to find a place to get my haircut. I have A LOT of hair, which is wavy and frizzy and a bad haircut can result in me looking like Darth Vader. Did a search to find a salon nearby, and made an appointment with Melissa, and it was great! She advised me on how to take care of my hair, and made sure that the style was good despite the fact that my only requirement was to be able to tie it in a ponytail. Melissa took her time to cut, and style my hair, and have a great conversation! I went in for a Haircut and the Hairstylist I had was cool. Nice and did a decent job. However the Head stylist/Owner Teresa is horrible. I over heard her talking to her employees and it is absolutely disgusting. Treating them as her personal assistants making them do personal tasks. The attitude is completely unprofessional and the fact that she does this blatantly in front of her guests is astonishing. She needs to take her Poodle head and her attitude to a therapist to get her issues figured out. Will not be back. Lady you have a little salon in Fremont, you are nobody. I had an appointment for a facial. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the stylist in front who asked if I had an appt. Then she directed me to the back room where I was met by my esthetician, MIA. Mia was AWESOME. She is very knowledgeable about the Aveda line of product and overall skincare. I'm over 45, so she recommended some pre-wrinkle/anti-aging products and told me I need to exfoliate better. Oh and bonus points -- with the facial they give a foot, hand or neck MASSAGE. I opted for the foot :) and it was literally the best one ever. She is a petite gal, but her hands are extremely strong! My further attempt to get an appointment turned into something way too complicated! One day I called to schedule a simple blow-dry and got a word, that Melissa will call me back, that never happened. Patience. Next day I called again, they put me on hold for 10 min and finally I dropped from call. Seriously? If you are booked out, that is ok. Just tell that! Could you, Artistry guys, have a little of respect to client's time? Upd: Finally the day before my photoshoot I got the appointment scheduled. I started going to the Artistry Salon for over 10 years.. At the time, Teresa fixed my hair which had been frizzed from overprocessing from coloring and a perm that my previous stylist left on too long. Over the next few years she worked with me to get great, natural looking color and a style that is versatile and flattering. Teresa has a real gift for color and is a great instructor to her stylists. She continues to educate herself and her stylists with ongoing classes through Aveda. Later, I started going with Erin, one of the junior stylists at the time to save money since I was coming in every three weeks to touch up my roots. Erin is just the best and I've been going to her for many years now! She is always so nice and accommodating and Erin does a great job on my cut, color and style - every time. Recently, I asked for a bold blue stripe and was very pleased with the results. She always shows me the latest in Aveda products that are appropriate for my hair but is never pushy with selling these products. Sometimes, when I've asked for an appointment in at the last minute, Melissa would do my hair instead of Erin. Melissa is amazing and I love the way she styles my hair. She is also very nice and does a great job. I would recommend her to anyone. The latest addition to the shop is the esthetician, Mia. I had my first facial in many years, two weeks ago. Oh, my - it was wonderful, probably the best I've ever had! Mia did a nice facial with minimal extractions (not painful at all) and the massage was unexpected but heavenly. The room is really nice and the candles are relaxing. I already scheduled a second appointment. Mia's motivated me to take better care of my skin which has lots of sun damage. Teresa has a very professional shop and hires these amazing women. Horrible people. I went to get my hair consulting and the head stylist was rude beyond belief. She went on to tell me that my hair looked terrible and was a bad color for me and that I didn't understand. She said it would take her a year to help my hair and if she can't fix it just to cut it off. All I asked was maybe if she could take some of the brassy- Ness out of my blonde hair with Aveda color. This was my first time at the artistry salon. I was a walk in and just needed my hair blow dried and styled. When I walked in the receptionist greeted me and I asked if anybody could do my hair . I could tell she was some what new. She called the owner I think to see if anybody was available and if i could wait 5 mins to find out . I asked her to call me back if someone was free but the latest I could do was 2. (Because I had to head out to a function. ) The receptionist called me back quickly and said someone could do my hair at 2 I then went back at 2 and was told to wait for a few mins. The owner then told me the person they called in was running a little late and if I could wait. I said I really needed to get this done ASAP because I had to leave for a function. As we were talking the lady doing my hair arrived 10 mins later but I felt bad because you could tell she was running from Bart to salon Then she had to get setup. I found out she was new to salon and didn't know the place. Poor thing tried 3 blow dryers on my hair until she found one she liked and you could tell she was nervous. I felt bad because the owner was watching her carefully because it was her first day there. After she was blow drying my hair I asked her to use a flat iron which my hair needed it. By this time I was stressed it seemed the process of her arriving late, getting my hair washed and styled it took almost 45 mins My stylist was very nice but my luck they called someone in that was new and didn't know the place or were anything was . My hair came out nice but I just felt a bit stressed by the whole process When I checked out the owner was showing another new person how to check me out. Then when I was told it was 55 dollars to blow dry my hair I was a little surprised by the cost. Normally I've paid 35 what am I in the city !!! She could tell by my face I was a bit surprised and I told her what I normally paid and she said 'because she used a flat iron'. Omg. Then she said because I was New she dropped it to 45. Of course I left a tip. I was trying to support my local area and trying a new place. For me I don't think I'll try this place again at least the last min. read more

Melissa is hands down the best hair stylist ever. I have been in Bay area for around 3 years now and went to so many salons- too expensive, bad hair color or some kind of issue. But not anymore. Melissa knows exactly what she is doing. I have had amazing root touch up and hair cut. You get 5 min hands massage if you get hair color and 5 mins head massage if you go for haircut. She completely gives her attention to you, what you want and how you want it- you get it. And best part she is right in my budget. Just love her. Cant wait for my next appointment with her. Excellent and accommodating. I am a horrible planner and I called to see if they could see me same day ( keep in mind I called at 5:30 pm) for a cut and color and they went out of their way to get me in. The color was perfect and the cut was exactly what I described. It is clean, comfortable, and having been there a couple of times now I would say that the stylists have an excellent ability to realize a concept. This place is a total disaster. Customer service is pitiable and staff is rude. The stylists are lousy. My 9 year old son got a haircut from here and they didn't even trim the sides in proportion. When I asked them to fix the sides they said they had customers waiting and I will have to stick around for an hour. Ridiculous!!!! Watch out for the Lady Gaga lookalike.
