Things were ok at first, but once the lease was signed things changed. I requested to change my parking space with the on-site management. Their false reasoning as to why I could not include the following in succession: We can't change your parking space: this is inherently false as as soon as I moved in I noticed the vehicle that was parking next to mine began to park three spaces down We can change your alternate parking spot: this is interesting bc when I moved in I was told there was only one parking space per applicant, but magically I have another spot We can only change your spot if you have a reasonable accommodation: I work in Human Resources so this seemed wildly false. I struggle to understand the rationale to allow someone to move three spaces (see reason one) counts as a reasonable living accommodation It seems not many people are choosing to renew. It's sad bc I thought management was good when I first moved in but I guess things changed. When I provided video evidence of tenants with dogs off leash the reply from the leasing office was: "well what do you want us to do about it?" How about actually enforcing the lease terms as a start and not making up false rationale as to why you can't accommodate a simple and reasonable request. read more

We have been living here for a year now. it's a beautiful new community and that's about the only pros. The walls are so thin that all day everyday you hear the people above you walk and make a lot of noise. The management is also very irresponsible about addressing concerns such as enforcing noise complaints or fixing the TVs in the amenity areas. We have been here for a year now and most of the tvs in the amenities have never worked!!! There are residents who clearly don't know how to live in shared spaces such an apartments, but the responsibility of conveying these regulations (quiet hours) is on the management and they simply don't do anything about it. read more

Summarizing our experience with The Asher in 2 words: Irresponsible management We parked our car there while visiting a friend and they towed us from a parking spot with no proper sign. We contacted the towing company and found that it was towed less than 2 hours after we parked there. After so much inconvenience we picked it up our car ~3:45 AM and got charged 550$. There is no clear sign in the spot showing that you cannot park your car there. And they claimed we parked in future resident parking in a weekend. In addition the security personnel saw us parking there and didn't say anything about the spot. We tried reaching out but they kept ignoring our phone calls and emails. It's unbelievable how they treated us with no explanation. read more

Beautiful community, great amenities, and it is like living in a resort with the following deficiencies: - Security is TERRIBLE! Bikes are stolen and cars broken into without any knowledge of the security staff, even days after the crimes. Nothing is done to safeguard the bike rooms and garage with cameras or routine checking by the security guards - No Wi-Fi or cell service in garage in hallways. This is very unsafe, as it is know that crime is happening in the garage frequently - Xfinity has terrible service within The Asher, doo to the way the units were built and the location of the modem with the apartment. - Cell service within the apartments are terrible or non-existent, depending on the service provider - Security deposits are only refunded if the apartments are pristine and walls and carpets are returned to new condition. Normal wear and tare is not factored into determination of security deposit refund Being a new community, The Asher should eventually overcome the security and connectivity problems. There should be more leeway in normal wear and tare considerations when a resident moves out. read more

Great place to live! This place feels a bit different then any other apartment. The amenities are high quality, the units are brand new, spacious, clean and some have breathtaking views of the hills. The leasing staff is super friendly and go above and beyond their job for you. They have different food trucks every Wednesday evening, once a month they sent out a coupon to these trucks which is pretty cool. They host different events for Halloween, Christmas, 4th of July etc. where they have free food, games and fun decoration for all residents. They started hosting live music on the rooftop as well. This apartment truly cares for their residents and wants to create a good community for us. Only thing that I wish the leasing staff would do, would be to sent out their event details a little sooner... 2-3 days notice is always so hard for me and I really don't want to miss these fun gatherings! read more

We lived in the Asher for 16 months and we loved every second of it! The apartment complex is HUGE and it feels very open. The amenities are the best I've seen in any apartment complex we have lived in and toured. The Asher team is very responsive! When we moved in, they lent us a cart to help bring things in. They had the cutest welcome package with a handwritten note from McKenna and Anne Marie. Our dishwasher was broken when we moved in and Joe really took it apart to fix it. Whenever we had a maintenance issue it was always resolved quickly! Felipe and Joe are just the best! When we moved out, they were so flexible with our move out dates since we were waiting for our current apartment. The leasing team went above and beyond! It's not part of their tasks but they would accept packages in the leasing office and sometimes even drop it off at our door. I've never had a package get lost! The food trucks and the events were also fun! There are cons of course, but it's things that happen in all apartment complexes like packages and bikes get stolen and cars get broken into. They did hire extra security as the complex got bigger and installed spikes in the gates as added security. It might help to put CCTV cameras in the actual garage since that's where all the break ins were happening. The app was initially very helpful but there were times where other residents were a bit toxic with the way they would message people calling out unit numbers and people on the app. It gave a negative vibe of the community. It was WAYYYY better when they disabled the bulletin board on the app. We only decided to move since we wanted to be closer to family and the city, otherwise we would have stayed! Leave here for 14 monthes, ,move out experience is very bad, they will replace your carpet when you move out and charge you 650 dollars for the carpet. Just be careful about it. When you move in, let them open it and see the back side of the carpet. Or they will just replace it for no reason. read more

Sadly this place is very insecure. Despite repeated incidents reported to the management, they have failed to do their duty of keeping the residents safe. Car break-ins are a weekly thing over here even though there is nothing to steal. Everyone knows to keep the cars empty, and yet there are incidents of petty thefts and broken windows every week. read more

I had a confirmed tour appointment on Tuesday 5:15pm. At around 4pm we spoke on the phone to confirm I'm on the way. I left San Francisco at 4pm, sat in traffic for 1.5 hours, got to the Asher at 5:30pm to find out the leasing agent had gone home... Very annoying to waste 1.5 hours for nothing, they didn't even allow me to view a single unit. I know I am at fault for being 15 minutes late, but the official listed office hours are 9am-6pm. The Asher is extremely disrespectful of my time, and unprofessional to CONFIRM guest is coming soon, then they leave work early. I can forecast residents will receive similar treatment. read more

This luxury apartment is awesome. I find it from a social media and the residents give very good comments with no doubt! The agent Tida is very friendly and professional. I finish my tour, application and move in within two weeks. I don't need to mention much about the environment and amenities. You can find them all over the website. There are large lounge rooms, two swimming pools, gym, yoga, and a pet spa room. I have moved in about one month, so far no problems at all. read more

If you are looking to pay high end prices but enjoy being treated like a Section 8 renter, look no further, The Asher is the place for you!! Management is by far the worst I have ever encountered being a renter, they could care less about their residents and the numerous complaints they receive on a daily basis. There are a significant number of package thefts, car break-ins, storage break-ins, random outsiders enter the complex and use the amenities while management is fully aware but do absolutely nothing (see included pictures). Emails to management go unanswered. Maintenance is no better... work orders go unanswered and if something is fixed, wait a minute as it's just a matter of time before it stops working. If you have set a specific appointment with them, they don't show up. Rafi (maintenance) pressures residents to give The Asher five-star review, it is pitiful!! Needless to say, this is my first and last Greystar property I'm a resident of! Do yourself a favor, PLEASE take all the negative reviews seriously and look elsewhere for a place to rent. read more

I have since moved out of the Asher, here are some thoughts: - a great place if you have a dog - the sound insulation between floors is terrible - it's impossible to renew unless you can afford a 700+ increase on an already high rent. I didn't see any of the friends I made in the community renew for this reason. - moving out is a pain. They expect you to go above what is considered reasonable wear and tear, and they do everything possible to give you the runaround. Example: I soap cleaned my carpets and asked for a pre-inspection. They walked around with a UV light checking my carpet. I was told that you are expected to soap clean the carpets when you leave AND hire professional cleaning services in order to not be charged a carpet cleaning service. They tell you when you ask that all you need to do is clean out the apartment, but when you hand in your keys they let you know that you have to pay a painting fee - it's impossible to repaint as they don't supply paint - and a cleaning fee if you didn't think to move the fridge and oven and clean behind them, or do crazy things like clean out mildew from the laundry machine. All of that is part of the turnover process for a landlord, not reasonable wear and tear, and none of it is disclosed in advance as a "gotcha!" now you have to pay this fee. read more

One of the best properties in Fremont, very well maintained, excellent gym, and a rooftop pool and hot tub. The residents are all nice and friendly, mostly working professionals. Unfortunately, it is also one of the unsafest communities around. There is a break-in every day. Both cars and apartments have been broken in, but the management could care less. Multiple residents have tried to escalate to the management, but they have turned a completely blind eye to it. If safety is not your concern, this is one of the best apartments around, but otherwise, stay away from it. read more

Pretty disappointed living here, we left after 8 months to move to a house. That being said the dog community here is wonderful. Pros - good location - new facilities like the gym - great residents I've come across and great for dogs - maintenance staff is top notch here Cons - LOTS OF THEFT- specifically in the garage, security is seriously lacking here and it's kind of shocking to see the community posts on this - originally sold us on promises of things that were about to be done/built and it never happened - some poor craftsmanship inside the apartment- ours had nails sticking out of the carpet, so be careful of your kids and dogs stepping on this - patios are made of wooden planks, things fall through easily if you have someone above you ie watering plants, dogs relieving themselves - floors are super thin. Can hear toilets flushing even which was a surprise for a new build. -no reception on first floor- not good for taking calls Hope they figure this stuff out, they had a lot of potential. read more

13 months of Purgatory (nearer to the Hell side) living at The Asher. There were moments of bliss (one extra star) upon walking into my top floor 2-bed apartment: - 11-foot ceilings with beautiful view of the Fremont hills - Great floorplan (Blacow model) with amazing C-style kitchen and plenty of storage and decent appliances - Large primary bedroom with two walk-in closets - Best apartment gym ever - like a mini-24 hour fitness - Great parking spot, but this will vary from tenant to tenant - Food trucks many Wednesdays - Nice and clean area of Fremont, close to BART There were more teeth-gnashing, migraine-inducing, run for those Fremont hills moments, however (minus three stars), below in order of annoyance: - Absolutely abysmal sound insulation, especially between floors. Below me I could hear talking/chanting, TV, every time a door was closed, most footsteps (below me as well as next-door). From the other side of my bedroom wall I was woken up numerous times by, through no fault of its own, the baby screaming after waking up from what I assumed where night terrors. Walls are better than floors, but not by much. - Mini-courtyard design caused other noise issues - dog/baby scream/whatever amplification. Avoid NE courtyard if you want to sleep on Monday and Thursday mornings. The shockingly loud garbage truck visits the service alley at the open end of the courtyard for about 30 minutes sometime from 615-7am, accentuated by courtyard echo. Alarm clock not needed those days. My tour guide conveniently failed to mention this frequent aural intrusion. - Poor communication from the office team, on average. Maybe it was my rather consistent, yet originally very genial, "communications" with them. They decided I was no longer worth responding to most times. - Fee (very small at $15, but it's the principle) for not updating them that my renters insurance auto renewed after the first 12 months of a 13 month lease. They didn't bother reaching out to me for an update, and I was not aware I needed to send the update. They did remind me of this requirement to update them could be found on page 70 of the lease, though. I complained, the fee stayed - typical. - Dog pee in the elevators on many occasions. - Even though my courtyard had its fair share of noise issues, I am so glad I didn't live around the main pool - avoid. - Common area floors could have used more consistent cleaning. For almost $4k per month (now a bit more) I expected a bit better from them and Greystar. read more
