I decided to stop by after physical therapy for lunch as they mentioned of having soups, sandwiches, and other warm food items. Upon entering the store, i was greeted by the employees and cook. It felt very welcoming and smelled delicious inside the store. I went with the Cauliflower Soup. It's gluten free, vegan, no plant milk, and contains no nuts. I have to say that this soup was delicious!! It reminds me of clam chowder without the clams and potatoes. It's super creamy and topped off with grilled onions. I highly recommend it! read more

If I were basing my review on the sandwiches I purchased, I would give them 5 stars. However....a sign on the door states that you need to wear a mask. I went in wearing mine; the cashier and sandwich makers were wearing theirs, along with all the other customers. I ordered and was browsing while I waited for the food. Then a 70-something man dressed in very nice athletic attire came in with no mask. He obviously knew the sandwich maker, they were engaging in a lively conversation. While he was leaning over the counter where the napkins and cutlery were, talking away, no mask. To make matters worse, he got his order prior to mine. Guess it matters who you know. When I got my order, she asked me if I wanted napkins and I said "no, not after that guy with no mask was standing here breathing over everything". She just laughed. I know this place used to be Gaia's, and I had checked it out once at the time and didn't care for it too much. One of my co-workers told me if was now a place called The Natural Trading and that they had good soups so I stopped by to check it out. It's the cutest little market, but as a vegan, I'm super in love because they ALWAYS make delicious soups that are ALWAYS vegan! They even have a vegan sandwich that I can't wait to try. They're currently selling fresh squeezed mandarin juice since it's mandarin season! They have an amazing selection of natural food products as well - everything you could think of. I come here so much it is actually embarrassing. I figured because I come so much I should write WHY! Well, simply because it is the most amazing place in Auburn!! I haven't purchased one item from here I did not like. The sandwiches and soups are so good you will dream about them come 11:30 am. I just ordered the broccoli soup and let me tell you - this wouldn't be an item I would normally purchase - but, because Auburn Bodega made it I knew it had to be good. I am not kidding, it was one of the best soups I have had. This is just one of many menu items I have purchased. I guess I will continue to come every day until they kick me out! I love this place! The people there are always so nice and friendly! It's locally owned and some of the produce comes directly from the owners' farm. They've often given me free produce while I'm there, too! It's a small place with less options which is one of the things I love about it. I appreciate that I can stop by needing a couple things and not get overwhelmed by the amount of choices. Instead I can choose what they have, which I know will be a healthy, delicious option. One should be warned, it is not a place to find the cheapest food, but instead high quality food. As a small, local business, I'm assuming that it's tough to compete with large corporate franchise prices and I am happy to pay a little extra knowing it's going straight back into my community. Also, I really love their tuna salad and deli bread! I've been there during lunchtime on a weekday and there were a lot of people enjoying lunch there which leads me to believe their other food must be equally as delicious! I think that this place nicely represents the local charm that permeates the shops in downtown Auburn and I can't help but love it! read more

I've been eating here since they first switched over to being Auburn Bodega, and this food is so freakin good, it's beyond words. I'm a pretty picky person as far as eating out goes, because I love to cook and am sensitive to the food I eat. If I am going to go back to a place it has to check all the boxes, delicious food, as well as looks really good and fresh, and finally after eating it, I feel satisfied and nourished. Whether it's a super veggie bro's sis or a soup of the day, I'm never disappointed. Don't miss this little gem! Stopped in for lunch as we were headed up to the mountains. Met the owners, including Molly who does the cooking and food prep. We had one of their apparently world famous Tuna Melt sandwiches and a large green/veggie salad. First, the Tuna Melt did not disappoint! Tuna was so tasty, and the warm melted cheese combined with the pickled pink onions, incredibly good. Only wish I had eaten it slower! And the salad, Molly said she could do a nice salad with just veggies, and one of the best salads we have had in years! Packed with a variety of tasty vegetables and presented beautifully, even in the to go container! Complimented with a very nice balsamic dressing. If you are looking for really tasty, and healthy fresh food, from what we tasted and saw, I don't think you can go wrong. And it's not just lunch. They have a nice variety of grocery items, produce, drinks and snacks. Mostly of the healthy variety, and things you may not find in most markets. Only a couple of minutes off the highway, and worth the trip. Whether local or coming through, stop by and check this place out and meet the hardworking owners and get some tasty food!
