We met a group of friends here for some early evening drinks. The venue is quaint but charming. The downstairs has an urban factory feel to it and they have an adorable upstairs seating area with high tops and trendy homestyle furniture. The wine selection wasn't extensive but they have something there for everyone. The bartenders were super helpful with recommendations, even on a busy weekend. I personally loved the cabernet, fiancé dug the Brose' (points for a cute name). Honestly my biggest hang up were the dirty glasses. I had two and each one had particles flying around. When we first walked in we were greeted by Cooper and Matt (full of LIFE!). Cooper seriously has a passion for the field that he is in. He legit explained the whole process to me from top to bottom. I liked the vibe of the winery. Its a very 21st century Austin vibe that combines the weird with the cool. The weird part I guess was the logo of the winery, which they said was a bee, but looked more like a moth. O well!. I went in there for the tour and tasting with a group and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The tasting consisted of 4 wines and we tried the Rose, friend with benefits, a Malbec and Violet crown. Every one of them was good. For me it was a toss up between the last two as to the best. The Ambiance is nice and i would totally do a date here... even a first date as the noise levels were not too high. The whole place is set in a warehouse district setting called the Yard. OK now to the bad part. The parking sucked at 6pm Friday when I went there. I didn't care for the tour although the guy kept repeatedly saying that we can ask him any questions and was very knowledgeable in his answers. To make the tour worth it they should try and follow some marketing strategy. Personally I would recommend that they incorporate a comparative winery details... a la... some wineries do it this way but we do it another way. Heck if they combined all the tour questions they have been asked and wove it into a nice anecdote about how they came up with that decision, it would make it so much more interesting. Don't let any of my comments lead you to believe that I wouldn't be back here. I will definitely be back here with my date to boot. I only hope the owners dont remember me as the guy who wrote the tour wasn't worth it and chase me out. We had an amazing time here. Skip the organized wine or brewery tours. Just head here! The atmosphere is the perfect winery setting, long wooden tables, the smell of wine and a winery dog! The workers are also great. They explained the wine well and discussed our options in detail. They were also super friendly and hospitable. We didn't want to leave. I would have given this place 4 stars just with those things alone but to top it all off the wine of great! Even wines I don't typically drink were better then expected. We traveled light to Austin and didn't check bags and this winery made me regret not paying $50 for checked luggage just so I could bring some home with me. Hopefully they will start shipping soon. This place does really cool movie and trivia events. We went for the Marvel trivia night and had a blast! The announcer was loud and worked the event in a very timely manner. The wine selection was somewhat limited, but all of the wine that we had was delicious. The prices were very very reasonable. We got a bottle of white for $18. That can't be beat. The cheese plates, however, were a little pricier. This place would have gotten 5 stars if there were more food options or a food truck close. We stopped in for a tasting, but this slightly out of the way gem really impressed us! The building is a large open warehouse style with tables to sit and enjoy the excellent wines. We are mainly red wine fans and the ones we had were wonderful. I personally like their "Work Horse" blend the best but every wine we tried was delicious. I had a girlfriend in town and we wanted to check out a few wineries. Having never been to the warehouse district of Austin, we were a bit skeptical when we pulled into this empty parking lot right when they opened on a Saturday. Apparently we went on the first weekend the Austin Winery was open at their new location! They hadn't even had their grand opening party yet. Also, we were there on the 6th de Mayo...so yea not a lot of people out of there house at noon looking for wine yet...except us! Both the owner and the wine maker were the ones serving us. They told us all about the wine and the history of Austin winery. They explained a lot of the equipment in the warehouse too. We did a wine tasting and tried several different types of wine. I am obsessed with the Zinfandel and am excited that they sell it in some Whole Foods in the Austin area! You can tell the vibe of the place will pick up once people realized the winery moved, but we had a great time. Nice and bright in there so you don't feel bad day drinking inside on a beautiful day. Came here yesterday for the Viet Cajun crawfish boil. The crawfish was catered by Pinch Boil House. So, I think the goal is for it to be a Vietnamese style. This was my first time trying this style so I'm not certain. The boil began serving at 12 and we arrived around 12:30 the line was already wrapped around the parking lot but they were doing their to crank them out and it smelled amazing. Once we finally got to the front we ordered 6 pounds for 4 people. It was 4 to go boxes and each box only had 1 measly piece of sausage and one potato. I ate my entire box but could have eaten about 3 more. I was still really hungry. I didn't think any of it was bursting with flavor like I had hoped. It was edible and they were a good size but nothing too exciting. The brewery itself is really cool though and there are all kinds of hidden gems back in that area. I am from southern Louisiana and just don't trust Texas crawfish boils. All in all though I had a great Saturday afternoon. read more

Don't let the exterior appearance fool you. When my wife and I pulled up we wondered if we were in the right place. Five minutes in you will forget that you are not at a "vineyard". Matt and Ross were both extremely informative and spent ample time explaining what went into each bottle. I am partial to reds so I will not comment on the whites. Since they are still small, and on account of my wife and I living down the road, I have taken a number of friends to taste near closing time. And the staff always accommodates, even past rush hour. Ross, Cooper, Matt, and Tessa are rocking the wine industry. And I'm pretty certain they are all under 30 years old. Here's how they are doing it: making wine (albeit, with decent grapes from California) that is suitable for snobs... obviously not seeking to knock their socks off. Yet allowing the affordability for the average joe (me) to: 1) throw grown up frat parties--we sent off a friend with a barrel at his good-bye 2) impress friends with "local wine" at a lower price point 3) buy into a club where I can brag to my friends I belong to something hip and young Take my recommendation: buy into the wine club while this operation is still growing. We had friends in town and wanted to do a wine tasting somewhere, so we did a quick search and this one was the closest, so we decided to give it a shot. Pulling up, we thought the place was closed as it's a bit difficult to spot. We walking in and were warmly greeted by Cooper. He is incredibly knowledgable and we really enjoyed learning about how they got into business, how they go about producing their wines, and even how he got into the industry. The wines that we tried were fantastic with the Pinot Gris, Gerwurztraminer, Old Vine Zin Fandel, and the Malbec. Only one of the six in our group was a Port fan, and he raved about it. These guys are great! They provided the wine for my wedding and handled serving the full bar. They are so easy to work with and all the wines they have are delicious. You can go out to the business location and do a wine tasting. They also have cute mini wine barrels that they can serve some of their wine from. You can personalize the front of the barrel and keep it as a memento. They were very professional the whole night, we ran out of ice, cups, liquor (which I was to provide just didn't get enough). They sent one of their people out to get what we needed. I didn't know of any of the issues until after the wedding. It was nice that they went above and beyond so we didn't have to worry about anything. They also have a wine club that is worth joining! read more
