If you're driving to Fredericksburg or Georgetown for your wine membership pick ups, I highly recommend going in for a tasting here. I'd be surprised if you didn't decide to switch. They also have great member events pretty regularly. The atmosphere inside is very relaxed. It's like a little cool oasis (especially during the summer). Really, besides the wine, which speaks for itself, the staff make this place. They're knowledgeable and they all are pretty passionate about the wine. Parking is easy most days and the Yard offers some options for food that you can have brought in to you (or you can grab and bring in) or order a cheese board with your wine. Very Disappointing Experience…read more I was really looking forward to The Golden Girls pop-up at Wanderlust Wine Company. Unfortunately, the experience was nothing like what I had seen from the pop-ups in other cities. The biggest disappointment was how little there actually was to the experience. The kitchen table wasn't even there. The girls famously gathered around that table eating cheesecake. Blanche's bedroom was completely outside in a completely different building, which made the whole setup feel disconnected. Even the wall phone, which was supposed to have the girls talking did not provide the experience I had seen from Instagram reels from other cities. Then came the cocktails. At $16 each, I expected them to at least be made correctly. My Blanche Devereaux cocktail was made with club soda instead of Sprite. Club soda tastes like Alka-Seltzer. I had to ask for a different drink. The second cocktail, The Dorothy, was made with Prosecco and unfortunately wasn't good either. Even the one lady sitting at this isolated bar with me said her drink was bad too. They double charged me. Which is another major issue. My ticket was $23.34 including taxes and fees and the complimentary drink was supposed to be included, with only a one-cent charge when I arrived. Instead, I was charged an additional $23.08, including $11.54 for the drink that was supposed to be included in the ticket price. Is there an explanation? Will this be corrected? My credit card company has already been notified. But what a hassle I have to go through. Just scan my QR code, and don't charge me .01 cent. I paid my ticket and "free" drink. Also as a solo guest, I was also extremely uncomfortable with where I was seated. I was placed away from everyone else at a very narrow bar along the wall, completely isolated from the rest of the group. Honestly, it felt like being sent to the kids' table at Thanksgiving--off in another room away from the adults. It was humiliating and made an already disappointing experience even worse. The entire experience amounted to roughly 15 minutes of taking a few pictures, drinking a poorly made cocktail, and leaving. For what I paid and what was advertised, I expected something much more immersive and fun. I couldn't wait to leave. Thank God I didn't pay for parking. I'm extremely disappointed. I went in excited to celebrate one of my favorite shows and left feeling like I had wasted my time and money. Based on this experience, I would not return to Wanderlust Wine Company.

I got the white wine flight loved every pour. I thought it was great value. My friends both got red flights and had nothing but good things to say too. Will absolutely be back. The young woman working the counter was courteous and polite as well, and then after lunch, I went next door to get some gin to share with friends the next time we hung out. Selection of liquors was excellent and prices were good. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, although obviously if you go in summer, you'll want indoor. Thanks to Brent L, I knew when the half dozen front parking spots weren't convenient to calmly take the next right and look for another lot--there's perhaps a dozen more back there. Since we were here for Monday lunch, parking was not an issue. Front parking plops you at the convenience section's front door. If you walk around the left and towards the outdoor seating/stage you'll find restrooms and rear parking lot ahead of you plus the restaurant/bar entrance on your right. Once inside by any route you can find the communicating doors to the other sections of the business. Stepping inside the bar/restaurant from 2:30pm August parking lot sun was blissfully dark. Actually reminded me of the bar scene in Nurse Betty until I smelled the seasonings and my eyes adjusted. A couple quiet patrons wrapping up their bar tab, conversation-friendly music playing, kind young woman at the bar took our lunch order. The setting is hole in the wall bar but clean and fused to convenience store shelving. Don't let that fool you, bc the kitchen does not slouch. Our table was $55 before tip and without any alcohol--bindhi masala for him, lamb saag for me, samosas, Mexican cokes, and garlic naan. The young lady came over to open the Mexican cokes and also brought our food when it was ready. When we first took a booth the music selection was from the time we were dating. By the time we got cokes and samosas, they were playing my parents' era. We each were pleased with the spice levels we'd chosen and ate as much as we could, taking about half to go. Mr R finished his leftovers for dinner and mine waited until Wednesday. We hardly spoke after the meal arrived, just enjoying flavors and textures and the strange nostalgia of having a meal for the first time in a building that you simultaneously know very well and not at all any longer. The restrooms outside were clean and the outside seating/stage looked like it would be fun in more habitable seasons. After eating, Mr R melted off to scout out an interesting bottle of gin for friends and found something satisfactory. Wish we'd noticed the tees by the bar entrance, I would have snagged him one. It was easy getting out of the lot and on the road back south since we left a squeak before rush hour hit, but locals will already be aware of the essence of timing. There are several different kinds of events you can partake in at this ongoing institution, but for two old folks seeking a tasty meal and memories, a weekday lunch was perfect. I hope we don't wait as long to return next time.
