Came here to celebrate the bf's birthday. We attended the private wine tasting and tour with Cooper. He was an awesome host, and answered all our questions and gave us a great background of wine in a fun, informative, and friendly way. Had a great time here with a group of bachelorettes several weekends ago. The guys who run the place are super nice, fun and knowledgable. You will definitely get a buzz after the tastings and they offer wines by the glass too if you need more! So many great things to say about The Austin Winery! I hosted a business party and was in the market for a good amount of wine. Since my business is local, I wanted to go with a local winery, and I am so happy I came across The Austin Winery. Great service. I contacted The Austin Winery and Ross got back to me same-day. When I visited, Matt and Cooper we polite and extremely knowledgeable. Their location is great for wine tastings. They even have wine barrels that are perfect for weddings and outdoor gatherings. We got there and we were very excited to have a relaxing night and try out their wine. By mistakes we missed the sign at the door and we walked in without realizing it was a private event. As we got into the counter a woman very politely tried to take our order and the suddenly another employee rushed in and in a very rude and condescending way asked "you know this is a private event right?" And we didn't know and he went on to say "there is a sign at the door so" and just stood, staring waiting for us to leave. Being a worker in the service industry as well, I can say this is no way to treat costumer! Austin is known for its service and there are plenty of places in town that would treat me as a valued customer. I'm discouraged to come, I have no interest in feeling like nuisance. read more

I love wine, and to be honest many times when I drink different types, it's good, but not outstanding, but I still drink it. I can say with absolute certainty that EVERY single variety from the Austin Winery has been beyond delicious, flavorful, perfectly blended, and amazing!! Literally have never had a kind I didn't love!!! As far as the experience of visiting the winery, it really can't be beat. Ross, Cooper, Matt and the team are BEYOND helpful. They are absolutely brimming with passion and knowledge over each aspect of the wine, where it comes from, how it was made and why. I feel like I am not only growing my own knowledge, but also supporting these talented and passionate folks. I love being out at the space, and getting to see the behind the scenes. I am also a huge fan of the wine club -- delivered right to my door with exciting new blends to try each time!! Could it get any better? Really cool place. My friends found this little gem, so I'll have to credit them for the nice find. Tucked away in what looked to be a closed business office center (on a Sat.) we found a lovely little room with great decor, nice seating and tasty wine. Bought a wonderful candle and white wine. Went with the Trebbiano, and enjoyed it this week. Smooth, light and buttery. :-) Worth checking out if your a wine fan. Stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon and was told at the counter that their "system" was down and they couldn't accept anything but cash - so we bought a bottle of their Workhorse Red to enjoy in the tasting room. It was pretty, open, and very air conditioned - we like. Kinda Austin hipster. However, shortly after we opened our bottle, a guy came around saying "just so you know, we're closing in an hour for a private event". Instant unlike. They couldn't have mentioned that before they uncorked our bottle? Thirty minutes later, people were being asked to scooch away from a certain area where musicians were setting up. That's when we started noticing couples that were splitting one glass of wine quickly and leaving. No one looked relaxed and happy. So much for being an "approachable" winery. Such a cute place! Love the wine barrels and the wood smell when you walk in. The service was wonderful. I particularly appreciated the large wine glasses they use. Also you can airplay movies from your phone to the large projector screen haha. We played some videos of our puppy! read more

This winery was a hidden gem in my own backyard. First visit was amazing with their varietals. I recommend the Russian Valley Pinot, Friends with Benefits red blend, and the Quarter Horse. The staff is young, funny, and very friendly. Wine club is an amazing deal. I'll just hate it when they move to the south location. read more

Very earnest and well-educated young men with an interest concept for an 'urban winery'. We did a five wine tasting and bought for of the five. The wines from Texas grapes are all excellent. The Pinot from the Santa Lucia Hghlands wad incredible and unlike any Pinot I have ever had. And I've had a lot. Definitely worth the investment of time. read more

This the only place I have ever been a wine club member at. The wine is pretty good! The port is definitely my favorite. The guys that own/run this place are very down to earth. I love that they have a wine in a bag option for you to take on the lake or enjoy by the pool. I have only been to their new location a handful of times. It is a very open space with lots of parking. A good place to take visitors and chill for a few hours without feeling rushed. They also have non-alcohol options for those that do not want to drink yummy wine. read more

Never go to trivia here. It was completely packed and disorganized, the wine was overpriced, there was nowhere to sit. As far as trivia rules go? Non-existent. The rounds took forever, people were turning their sheets in after the answer was already told (AND GETTING CREDIT FOR IT) and numerous groups had their phones out googling answers with nobody telling them no. The "prizes" were also never mentioned until almost the end of the game, when they then announced that the #1 was prize was a $40 gift card......like anyone would wanna go back there after that clusterf**k....Bonus points for charging us different prices for the same glass of wine. Plus the bartenders are rude and can't do simple addition. This place is a mess, and not a hot one. read more

I would give a review except I have no idea how the wine is. When I came in it appeared they were finishing a tour which was no big deal. I took a seat and prepared to wait for a little bit. However when the tour finished and I got a quick "hey" from who I believe was an employee I figured I would get some assistance soon. After sitting for another five minutes listening to conversations I decided that clearly they already have enough business. A friend is visiting from Ohio and he was not at all impressed. Total waste of our time. Really really disappointed given the high ratings. Real cute small winery in an industrial-ish part of Austin. Had a great time tasting wine with Matt and Cooper. Lots of fun, random conversations to be had. Even got to taste an un-bottles rosé, which I will be ordering to CA as soon as it's bottled. I've tried my fair share of rosés in CA, it's definitely the best I've had. One of Austin's hidden gems. This place is awesome. It may be disinviting, the parking lot, and looks like their closed, but once inside, Cooper, the head wine maker, is courteous and informative. He invited our questions and was very patient. He explained fermentation processes and the functionality of the cork. Hiw the cork can introduce oxidation or the possibility of bacteria. We enjoyed the wine. Our party bought 13 bottles. I highly recommend this place. read more

A friend brought me here after having dinner on a Saturday during ACL. To be upfront I am a homebrewing, craft beer guy but love trying new places. Not sure how I have never heard of this place but will definitely be going back. We tried the Trebbiano (Nice sweet wine), Friends with benefits (great wine with some perceived acidity to cut through the sweetness of the Trebbiano) and the Sonomo Coast Pinot. While I loved all three, the Sonomo was definitely the stand out for me. The current place, while small, is very comfortable and comforting. They will soon be moving to South Austin and I look forward to supporting them there. Cooper and Ross were amazing, gracious, knowledgeable and friendly hosts. Absolutely no pretension anywhere on the premise. Being a craft beer geek, not knowing much about wine, I really appreciate that. Those guys are class acts. I went to the Austin winery with a group of friends on a Saturday afternoon and had an amazing time! I love the atmosphere and all of the open space. They have plenty of seating, and the large garage door was open to enjoy the beautiful weather. The staff was friendly and easygoing. Each of us got a flight - we picked 4 wines off of the menu. It was well worth the 20 dollars we spent. The pours were generous and the wine was tasty! I especially liked the workhorse and the port. They have light bites for you to have with your drinks (cheeses, pickles, etc.). I will definitely be back again! read more
