Such a good meal. Great service and everything we ate was so delicious. We are from malaysia and we have eaten alot of Thai food . I was glad they didnt have alot of the popular options Only thing is that parking is a bit cumbersome.
Easily one of my favorite Thai spots in Austin! The ribs I had were so on point and had that nice deep sweet and savory flavor. Paired well with the sticky rice. Pad se ew was also excellent. The crab curry was just okay though. I had their scallop appetizer too and that was good but a bit spicy. Another highlight was the killer noodles. I had that a while back before they re-opened but remember it was very memorable/delicious. The fried chicken and rice was just okay, not that special. Good service. Spacious inside and there is a parking lot which is nice.
I was super excited when I heard Kiin Di was opening a full-service restaurant. I've been a fan of their food truck for years and they were always consistently excellent, so I couldn't wait to see what they would do with an expanded menu. There were so many new dishes that caught my eye, but I immediately gravitated toward the Creamy Crab Curry and it was absolutely the right choice. The curry was rich, creamy and packed with flavor while the fried soft-shell crab was perfectly cooked and added a great texture to the dish. Honestly, it's the kind of meal I could see myself ordering every week. My partner went with the Lost Recipe, which looked just as delicious. You can never really go wrong with fried chicken, and this version certainly didn't disappoint. The service was equally impressive. Our server was friendly, attentive and checked in regularly throughout the meal. She even brought us a complimentary crab pastry to try, which was a thoughtful touch and much appreciated. One thing to note this place gets busy, especially during lunch so plan accordingly. That said, the food and service are well worth it and the menu is reasonably priced. Kiin Di has successfully made the jump from food truck to full-service restaurant and it's definitely earned a spot on my regular rotation.
Had their Masaman curry was not disappointed! It was extremely flavor, came with a huge portion and was very creatively made. I still think I prefer their original menu items that they used to have at their food truck. It's still really nice to see them open up a brick and mortar. Service and ambience was great
THE BIG: Food truck turned brick and mortar. Love the evolution of graet Austin restaurants. Located right off of South Lamar and Bluebonnet Ln. Parking available either in the small lot or street parking. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here with a buddy to try out new restaurants and Kiin Di was high on that list. Fortunately, we came at opening and was able to snag a seat quickly For food, we got the rip & dip Roti, khao soi, lost recipe, creamy curry crab, Thai me down, dang curry, and pad see ew. The khao soi was pretty mid and it didn't have the nice fried crunch i was expecting out of a chiang mai khao soi. The rip and dip roti was amazing and it went so well with its own sauce as wella s the dang curry. When we were leaving, there was already a line outside, so i recommend either coming early or during non-peak times. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall damage done was around $140 for everything. Very flavorful meal and very salty however I'd come back and try some more items.
Tried a few more things: * fried chicken wings. - these are so so good! * creamy curry crab - yum. A little messy to eat but very good * khao soi - liked this dish - crispy noodles added a nice contrast As always - the folks here are so nice and welcoming!
Kiin Di was just incredible!! The dishes are of the highest quality and are so so good. I had the killer noodles (low spice) with the fried chicken and just loved this. Was so so so good and flavorful, and great value for the quantity of food you get. The PadThai is also delicious!! We did the Banana Blossom Salad which has a 1 level spice and loved how this tasted, but the spice was really intense, and we can handle spice well. So whatever spice levels they have, just go well below what it's listed if you can't do spice. We went at 9pm so there wasn't a wait, but if you are trying to go at prime time they said it's y'all's an hour+ wait. Overall -- very very good and can't wait to come back!! Prices are placed well for the value!
BUSSINNNNN, as I said before, I am honored to have breathed the same air as the cow whose rib I ate. Great service, amazing curries, and really nice space. It was worth it, especially after taking a look at the La barbecue line, which we tried to hit up first. The segue was 100% worth it
Kiin-Di, which means "eating good," truly lives up to its name! Originally a popular food truck in Austin, Kiin-Di now has its own standalone restaurant, and I'm so glad we decided to check it out. We got there right when they opened and the service was amazing. They started building our 15-person table immediately and service was fast. We tried the spring rolls, chicken wings, chicken curry, and fried rice. Everything was delicious, but the chicken wings and chicken curry were definite standouts! Absolutely packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. I'll be coming back just for that curry! The atmosphere inside is a bit on the plain side, but the colorful glasses and fun plates add a nice touch and keep things lively. The food more than makes up for any lack of ambiance. I'll definitely be coming here again, and I'm already looking forward to ordering the chicken curry next time. Highly recommend for anyone craving great Thai food in Austin!
Easy parking, walked in around 8pm and got seated right away. Service was fast and the staff actually knows their menu -- appreciated that. Roti -- Flaky, buttery, and comes with a rich sauce that pairs perfectly. Solid starter. Khao Soi -- The star of the night. Chewy noodles in a tangy, layered broth with fresh radishes and crunchy fried shallots that add these great unexpected textures. Only note: we were sharing and it came with a whole chicken thigh -- would be so much easier to eat if it came pre-shredded. Hung Lay Pork -- The pork flavor is bold and a little gamey, not for everyone. But the curry itself is warm and tangy and really shines when you eat it with rice. The space is well designed and the vibe matches the food -- adventurous and authentic. You can tell every dish is made with care. Already planning my next visit to work through the rest of the menu.
Absolutely delicious!!! The two standout stars of our meal were the pla scallop starter and the beef rib. The scallops super tender and sweet and the sauce it sat in was everything. Just crack addictive. I could eat 10 of these plates. Must get this. The beef rib was super tender and sat in these incredibly rich and umami curry that had a good balance of sweetness from the grilled pineapple. The other things we ordered were also wonderful tho ever so slightly overshadowed by those first two. The banana blossom salad was a delight of textures and great balance of sweet, sour, spicy. The hung Lay pork was so good, but I felt like i didn't need so much meat with already having the beef rib. The khao soi was super rich but perhaps even a little too rich..the soup wasn't soupy; it was like a thick curry sauce. All flavors were top notch though, so I'm really talking very small details. One of the most enjoyable meals I've had in the past year!
I heard a lot about this place and decided to check 'em out! Walked in and got seated immediately for dinner. I like the ambiance. It's dark and bustling, reminds me of actual street food (but it's inside). The outside of the restaurant is actually uninviting though. It has darkened windows and you can't really tell if they are open or not. Never been to the food truck so I asked the server what their most popular dishes are. She recommended the creamy curry crab and Killer Noodles. The curry had a picture on the menu and looks really good but I was nervous to get the killer noodles because it had 3 chilies next to it indicating it's pretty spicy. But my husband can handle spice really well so I just decided to get it. We can always share! Food came out quickly and my husband LOVED the creamy curry crab. He kept raving about how good and creamy the curry was. There's also real crab and the value of the dish was quite worth it. Five out of five! However, he quickly finished all the rice and when asking for a refill, we learned extra rice is $3....we eat rice all the time and thought it should probably just be $1 more. Didn't get the refill but still cleaned up all the curry! It is not spicy. The killer noodles are spicy, but actually not that spicy and quite tolerable. However, I didn't realize it is literally ramen noodles. Like convenience store ramen noodles and I'm convinced they are the Indonesian Mi Goreng. They're good but not worth $17...it's also not a meal that fills me up. The pork belly on top is great! They leave everything in a box and put it on the plate-I thought that was interesting haha. I was disappointed with my meal and needed something else to digest the carbs and spice so we got the T.O.K., the only dessert on the menu. This was really good! I'm a huge fan of coconut ice cream so I was really excited to hear it comes with two scoops on top of the Thai-style Chinese deep-fried donuts. This helped me digest tremendously. I think I will come back but will definitely not order the killer noodles. Please don't popularize this dish-you can literally buy a pack from the Asian grocery store for less.
Great food, but I don't recommend sitting inside. Food: - Dipping Roti (10/10): Appetizer with 2 pieces of roti. Amazing dip that is slightly sweet and very flavorful. Would recommend highly! - Beef Dang Curry (8/10): Spicy and great flavored curry. The beef was tender, and it paired well with the potato. - Shrimp Pad Thai (9/10): Good amount of shrimp, and the noodles are amazing. Chili flakes did not add any spice. Very yummy overall. Service: Semi-hard to grab waitress' attention to get boxes for leftovers. They started cleaning the table while we sat there. Okay service, but could be better, Ambiance: Came here for dinner, and they seated us in the middle, where there was no AC running. Dark ambiance and busy atmosphere. Took about 30 minutes for 2 people to get seated! Very loud inside.

* killer noodles: 4/5 The flavor was salty sweet spicy and was overall tasty. We had gotten the pork belly killer noodles. The pork belly was lean with no fat . It paired well with the noodles. * khảo soi: 3/5 I watched a documentary about this dish and was so excited to see it was available at Kiin Di! When we first received the dish, it was super salty so we advised our waitress we couldn't eat it because it was overly salty. She was very kind and took it back. She asked us if we would like to replace that dish. We asked for pad Thai. Later she brought out the Kháo soi redone and said it was on the house and ask for our feedback. She apologize and informed us the sauce had reduced down too low and that is why it was salty. She asked us to try it and let her know. It was less salty but the more we ate the more it got salter. It was definitely creamier and less salty but it's still salty. Not overwhelming salt like the first but ate salty with each bit. We really appreciate her being so open and appreciative for feedback. Although the dish was too salty for our preference... we appreciate the effort and courtesy to make it right. That shows an adaptive and hard working business that values feedback and that is a marksmanship of a business will thrive with lifetime customers. * 2 Thai teas : 3/5 We had ask for a lot of Thai Tea and less milk but the Thai tea was still very milky. We wish the Thai Tea was bolder and stronger in flavor. * chicken wings with spicy tamarind sauce: 5/5 highly recommended dish! There is not many places in Austin that has this spicy tamarind chicken wing that I can find. A rare dish and an outstanding one! Salty Sour Sweet Mild Spicy Unami AND CRAVEABLE! Chicken was juicy and cripsy on the outside despite being toss in the sauce. We devoured the 5 wings and regretted we finished it all because we wanted more! These delicious wings are going to definitely be on my mind just thinking of it now is making my mouth water..... so good! !! If you love tamarind it's a must try! * mussels: 1/5: we were wondering why the mussels didn't have any Yelp pictures for Kiin Di but we may have found out why. The mussels are presented beautifully. The presentation was great and we were excited to dig in. Unfortunately the mussel ran very salty and the mussels were very very tiny. The shell was average size but I think the mussels were overly cooked. The mussels absorb the salty sauce so we couldn't eat many. We felt bad for sending back one dish so we didn't want to send back a second dish again. * tofu pad Thai: 5/5 I never thought I would ever say this because I Love 1618 Asian Fusion cripsy pad Thai so much that no other pad Thai had ever compared to theirs... but Kiin Di pad Thai definitely rank the best regular pad Thai I had (without the cripsy). The favors were so well balanced of salty , mild spicy , sour. The noodles were chewy and springy! I love the texture and this dish is so so craveable too! We got tofu but next time we will get the chicken. The tofu ran a bit sour thus why we will get chicken next time. The flavors explode in your mouth. Like wow! Highly recommend this dish! It wasn't spicy for all the non spicy eaters. Note if there's any dish can't eat spicy, you can let your waitress know and they can adjust the spicy level for you. The staff is very attentive. Do I recommend this place? Absolutely! The best pad Thai in Austin. We can't wait to come back to get the tamarind wings and pad Thai along with trying their other dishes. There is free parking on Sundays. We went on Sunday at 12:30 pm and were seated but this restaurant filled up pretty fast after we were seated. Service is 5 stars. Absolute gem for authentic Thai food. They had other dishes I've never seen at other Thai restaurants we been to which sets them a part. read more
Wow, this was definitely one the best Thai food spots I've had in Austin. The highlight was the soft shell crab curry. It was on the sweeter side, but still the flavor was so complex and wonderful. The papaya salad was also one of the best I've ever had. We got takeout and it was really easy. There was a line during dinner time on Friday so I definitely recommend a takeout option. read more

Update to my previous experience. Had the pad Thai again and it was less smokey, and tastier, this time. Khao soi was still perfect! Tried the fried rice which I thought was good and included a decent amount of veggies. It only took about 15 min to be ready even though it said it'd be a 30 min wait. Service was again super friendly and quick! read more

Kiin Di was one of my first food truck experiences in Austin, and I remember really enjoying it the first time. So when I found out they opened a brick-and-mortar location, I knew I had to come back. I re-ordered their Killer Noodles and loved how they kept that fun food truck feel in the presentation. It felt playful, quirky, and true to their roots. Their soft shell crab curry dish was also really impressive. It was a bit too spicy for me, but the flavors were bold, layered, and explosive in the best way. Based on what we tried, I have no doubt the rest of their menu is just as delicious. Definitely a fun spot to check out if you're looking for bold Thai flavors in Austin. read more

Rating: 4.3/5 [dine in] We came for dinner on a Sunday night around 6 PM and were seated right away. It was great to see Kiin Di open such a beautiful restaurant. I loved their table seating and glassware, as well as the marbled bathroom. We were dining with a special guest, so we received great service. They really nailed the flavors on almost every dish, but some of the portion sizes felt a bit small for the price. The food is also very heavy and spicy, and our stomachs were not happy later that night. Almost every dish we ordered had at least one chili symbol next to it. Thai Boxing Wings ($12 for 5 wings): We got the spicy tamarind sauce, wet style, which was great on the crispy fried chicken wings. Pla Scallop ($16): Raw scallop tossed in a spicy chili jam dressing. I absolutely loved the flavor profile, but something about the scallop texture did not make this a fully harmonious dish. Banana Blossom Salad ($16): This was the most mild dish out of everything we ordered. I did not like the fried shrimp in this one as much as the version in the Talay Prik Klua. I also prefer Vietnamese banana blossom salad more than this one. Goi Beef ($17): Northeastern Thai filet mignon tartare. It did not look or taste like what I was imagining. The beef looked similar to taco ground beef, if I am being honest, and it tasted cooked. The white rice crackers it came with, though, were delicious and crispy. Talay Prik Klua ($21): Thai style salt and pepper sauteed jumbo shrimp and squid in a spicy seafood sauce. There was no strong seafood taste or smell, which I loved. It had a nice crunchy texture and was even better when dipped in the spicy seafood sauce. Killer Noodles With Fried Pork Belly ($17): Served in the same style as when it was offered from the food truck, in a to go box with the noodles on the bottom and large fried pork belly strips on top. The fried egg was served on the plate and was cooked nicely, with a crispy rim and runny yolk. The killer noodle flavors were on point this time, but they were very spicy. The fried pork belly was a bit dry, so I would not order it again. Is it worth $17? I do not think so. Khao Soi ($18): Rice and creamy coconut curry soup with egg noodles and chicken thighs, topped with crispy fried noodles. This was a warm bowl of comfort and was delicious, especially the chicken thighs. The egg noodles beautifully coated the curry soup. Kua Curry Beef Rib ($48): Came with a huge rib drenched in curry, pineapple on the side, and a side of white rice. The rice was dry, but the pineapple slices were delicious. The beef was overcooked and dry in the areas not covered by curry. Not worth it to me. Master of the House: Red wine, passionfruit puree, pineapple juice, tajin. It tasted watered down and the flavors did not come through. Austin Sour: Sake, tamarind puree, simple syrup, tamarind chili bite, lime. Pretty good and well balanced. We both liked this cocktail more than the Master of the House. read more
this place seems to be a hip and popular spot in downtown austin. across the river side. it was pretty packed with music in the background. just have a hip and young vibe spot for date night or gatherings of young crowd. i mean 20-30 something young not high school kids young.... anyways, i actually didn't know i order the thai me down app.. i thought i was getting some sort of chicken karage. instead, its chicken taco.. pretty good and 10 bucks is reasonable. alot of meat. meal by itself really. the khao soi for some reason gave me heartburn. perhaps the soup is just too flavorful. it was thick curry broth. there was a big piece of chicken thigh. i wish there was more egg noodle and less chicken.. i want more noodle less meat. or perhaps meat is cut up into smaller pieces to eat. and add a couple qual eggs.. anyways, i end up eating just too much chicken... the initial app had a huge piece of chicken. just bad ordering on my part. total was 40 + 7 tip. had a beer as well for $6 and rice was $3 ate the rice with the chicken and soup as i finish the noodle pretty quickly like a couple slurps. khao soi was 18 bucks.. yupe, 50 bucks total... jeez -1 star i came for the khao soi and it was just not enough noodles. i think also quite expensive.. i think this is premium for being more of a hip restaurant and location. i would love to find a street hawker selling it like on khaosan for 3 bucks... i should mention, really really friend staff and service. +1 star anyways, if you miss the khao soi in bkk, this is probably the high end version.... read more
I had such a great meal here! Each dish was so beautiful and so delicious- fresh and flavor in each bite. I lived the khao soi and the fried potatoes. The banana blossom was also amazing. Honestly everything we had was tasty. I would love to come back to try another curry dish. read more
I'm happy they open a real location after having the food truck for a long time. The menu is very big now compared to the food truck limited menu. It's packed on a Friday over lunch. Both the nam ngiao noodle and hung lay were a tiny bit too salty for my taste, but I'll definitely be back for more dishes read more
Kiin Di is absolutely amongst the best Thai Food I've ever consumed in my life! Absolutely delicious. My friends and I came here on their opening week, and at their first Friday dinner. The wait was much quicker than anticipated. Friendly service and relaxing social vibes. We ordered 3x total dishes (Pad Thai, Shrimp Curry, and Pad Krapow). Great place in Austin for Thai. I ordered the killer noodles, the roti, and the lost recipe along with a cocktail. The roti was my favorite. The curry sauce that comes with it is delicious. The noodles were very flavorful and had a nice level of spice. The chicken in the lost recipe was nice and crispy, and the sauce was yummy. I also enjoyed my cocktail. The service and ambiance were also good. There wasn't any wait for a Sunday lunch. read more
Kiin Di recently launched their soft opening for their first brick and mortar store, which means an expanded menu with new items! If you're a fan of raw seafood, then you absolutely have to get their new scallops appetizer, which is tossed in a spicy and tangy homemade chili sauce with Thai chili peppers so each bite is filled with a nice spice kick. If you're not a fan of spicy food, I would recommend avoiding this dish haha! For our entrees, we had to get their classic Killer Noodles with Fried Chicken and Talay Prik Klua (a stir-fried crispy shrimp and squid dish), both of which were also spicy and included Thai chili peppers! In general, I'd say a good portion of their menu items have some form of spice so get those stomachs ready in advance haha! They are currently only open for dinner time during their soft opening, and based on this recent experience alone, I have a feeling that this place will become one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the area! :) read more
Came to their recent opening of the brick and mortar location Service: lady was very friendly and attentive Food: I got the pad Thai which was a 4/5 (solid pad Thai but no unique twist, lost a point bc it did get salty as I continued eating it and ended up just taking the leftovers to go) and my husband got the hung lay which was 2/5 (way too salty without any acidic or other flavor break). The inside is way nicer than I expected, and each table has a small lamp in the middle which makes the whole place feel cozy and a little elevated. I got the killer noodles and the pad thai and both were very solid. The killer noodles were level 3 spice and it was definitely manageable. It had a great balance of flavor and heat without being overwhelming. The fried pork in the dish worked really well and added a lot of texture and richness. The pad thai was also solid and honestly one of the better ones I have had in Austin. They gave a lot of water at the table and refilled it quickly, which made the whole experience more comfortable, especially with spicy food. read more

TL;DR: Will be coming back and would highly recommend to a friend! Food: My friends and I ordered the Thai Me Down, Khao Soi, The Lost Recipe, and Talay Prik Klua. + The Thai Me Down is a really good starter -- it has a good portion of meat and flavor variation with both spiciness and sweetness. At a lot of Thai restaurants I go to, the meat ends up being a bit dry, but 'twas not the case here! The outside is crispy while the inside is nice and juicy. + I would totally order the Khao Sao again! The chicken is so incredibly tender, and soaks so much of the coconut curry flavor. I appreciate that this dish isn't very spicy yet still carries a lot of distinguishable flavor to it. + I got to try some of The Lost Recipe and thought it tasted pretty similar to the Thai Me Down. The fried chicken is seriously so good crispiness-wise while not drying out the chicken. However, for the best bang for your buck, I would recommend getting the Thai Me Down and something with more variation for the main dish. + Okay WOW the Talay Prik Klua is *spicy*. A few bites of this had me sweating bullets and drinking an absurd amount of water (I have a pretty low spice tolerance tbf). Aside from the spice, the squid and shrimp are fried and taste AMAZING. I would order this again next time if my spice tolerance was higher for sure. Service: All of the staff here seem so friendly, and they checked in on our table multiple times during the service. We got water refills without asking, and they were kind enough to bring me a stack of napkins because I was sweating from the spice so much. This made my experience here so much better. Ambiance: I seriously loved my dining experience here! The restaurant itself is on the smaller side yet feels very open, making all the guests feel connected in a way. The inside is appropriately between a fancy and casual feel, but the real star are the dishes themselves. The restaurant can get really busy so be prepared for a wait on the weekends. The food was really good and the drinks were so pretty. The coconut cocktail was really strong. The staff are really friendly, but because they're so busy the food can take a while. Definitely recommend. read more
OVERVIEW: New brick and mortar has been super hyped, so I was excited to finally try it! And then the food came and I was disappointed. Perhaps I went on an off night. Perhaps I ordered the wrong things. But next time I think I'll drive 2 mins. further down S. Lamar and get Super Thai instead!!! QUICK FACTS: - Parking? Yes, there are a decent amount of spots around the restaurant. - Reservations? No, walk-in only. You can join a waitlist ahead of time if it's super busy. FOOD & DRINK RATINGS: - Thai tea (5/5): Always delicious, would be hard to mess up. - Scallop crudo (4/5): Great flavor! Has a nice kick to it with the chilis. - Rip and dip roti (5/5): So good! Two pieces and a curry sauce that's delicious. Flaky and buttery - what's not to love? - Pad Thai (2/5): This was really disappointing! Super smoky flavor from the wok, which was nice at first, but that was really all you could taste. Almost tasted like they forgot the sauce. Missing the usual pad Thai flavor profiles. Kind of dry. Just not enjoyable. Also I get they want to make the presentation, but putting a pile of red chili flakes in one spot is kind of stupid. - Crab curry (2/5): Curry itself was so bland. Texture was way too thick, so it just wasn't good. The crab was deep fried and too heavily-breaded. Ruined it. Love a soft shell crab but this wasn't worth it. I only ate half. kiin di leans into more unique, tropical flavors, and the presentation of each dish is absolutely exquisite. as everyone has mentioned, the scallops were definitely the highlight! supple, fresh, and paired beautifully with a tangy sauce that made the whole dish feel really refreshing. the soft shell crab curry was rich and creamy, with a crispy crab that held up nicely in the sauce. the pork ribs were also great, sooo tender they literally fell off the bone. the khao soi was okay... not super memorable, and the flavor profile was very similar to the crab curry. most of the entrees leaned really sweet and had almost no spice, which made the dishes too heavy. i def liked the creative dishes and great presentation, though i wish the flavors had a bit more balance and heat, and the dishes are a little overpriced for what it is read more

The Pad Thai here has a lot going for it: perfectly cooked chicken, fresh toppings, and nicely textured noodles. But the sauce leaned much sweeter than expected, so the tangy, savory flavors got a bit lost. If the kitchen dialed back the sugar and brought out more tamarind and umami, this could be a fantastic Pad Thai. Everything else from presentation to cooking technique was spot on. read more
This place is so good we've been talking about this place non stop. Food truck to brick and mortar restaurant. Inside is casual with parking. Small drink menu but their drinks are delicious. While everything was amazing. Stand out dishes were the scallop appetizer. The sauce has a little bit of spice and the beef rib. The rib fell off the bone, the sauce with it and sweetness of the pineapple that you can't see in the picture was perfect. Delicious authentic Thai restaurant! Their service was quick and even though the restaurant was packed on a Sunday night, we luckily did not have to wait at all. The roti w curry sauce was so good, I just wish they gave a little more sauce. The pad see ew was packed with flavor. Vibes in the restaurant were lively and the server was very nice.
