I dropped by on a Saturday afternoon in the mood for oysters. I ordered a sampling of the different oysters and the crudo. The oysters were fresh. There were a few I really enjoyed but all were fresh. The crudo, however, really stole the show. I didn't expect it to. I saw reviews that it was unique and standout so instead of ordering a crab cake or ceviche where you can get many places, I tried the crudo and was really happy I did. I think they change the 4 types of fish as they were listed on the board above the bar. The service was great. Very friendly, attentive, and everything came out fast. The ambiance was lively. Felt like a casual oyster bar and hang out place. I sat in the bar area. There is absolutely no parking. Street parking was very hard to find. I lucked out after circling around for a while but expect to walk or grab a Lyft. read more

We made a reservation for Clark's a few weeks ago and were very excited yesterday when the day finally came for our weeknight date night. We had reservations for 6:45 and got there closer to 6:35. We had to wait a bit as the previous table was still at ours and I think we got seated around 6:55. They apologized when they sat us but still, don't think I've had to wait that long with a reservation before anywhere else and usually, at most places, if you're early you'll still get seated early if not on time. Oh well, we'll give them the benefit of the doubt on that. Otherwise, the experience was great. We started with a 'leaving on Monday' as I couldn't help myself after hearing it was Anthony Bourdain's favorite and she got the Amber waves. Both were really good but next time, I might ask for light ice on mine. To start, we got the 2 each of the Sex on the bay, Savage Blonde, and Blish point Oysters and then also an oyster shooter and a dressed oyster. I think the savage blonde was the fave but all were really good and man, she loved the dressed oyster. The oyster shot was decent but from just a mix of vodka and oysters isn't something I'll probably do again. We then had the bluefin tuna carpaccio and it was so interesting. Lots of flavor and the capers were delicious. We had read the gruyere burger was a must so we split that with the shoestring fries. The burger was a top 5 of the ones I've had in Austin; not huge though so if you want a large portion, probably get something else with it. I'm not sure how to feel about the fries tbh. They were hyped too but they were so thin. They were good but I think I'd prefer if they were double the size as you couldn't even dip them in ketchup without them falling apart. To finish, we split of scoop of cream cheese ice cream and it was fantastic. Price D was our server and was friendly and seemed pretty on top of things and overall he did a good job. We left happy and will probably go again but maybe for happy hour next time just to soften the blow on the wallet. I came here on my birthday for lunch with my mom and had a fantastic time! The ambiance was very cute, and I loved their salt water fish tank with sea anemone and lots of fish like clownfish. The bathrooms were gender neutral which was nice, but one of the bathrooms was missing a hook on the door to hang things on which would have been nice to have for my long coat. We were really excited to see some seafood classics like raw oysters (so fresh), the tuna sandwich (one of the best I've ever had), and clam chowder (excellent) on the menu. Everything was fantastic and I loved that I got to try 8 varieties of oysters! I loved every single one of them except for one which was a little too earthy for my taste (little Moon, LA). The fresh bread was so soft and delicious, we ate 2 loafs! The iced tea was great and I got several refills. Our server was so wonderful and attentive and even took some photos of me and my mom. Had a delicious dinner at Clark's! The restaurant is quite small inside so make sure you look in advance if you want a good reservation time especially on Fridays and Saturdays. We had to find street parking as there's not a lot of parking available on the premises. We were started off with some complimentary sourdough bread with unsalted butter (salt on the side) and radishes! I highly recommend you keep some of the bread to soak up the tasty sauces you will enjoy later on in the meal. For apps we ordered the bluefin tuna plate and the crudo plate. We were kind of okay with the bluefin tuna as the components that came with the dish did not taste good together. The crudo plate was our favorite dish of the night; the sauce it comes with and the 4 different types of market fish is incredibly fresh! For mains we got the crispy snapper and halibut. I thought the halibut was kind of dry but the sauces accompanying it were amazing and helped cut out the dryness. The snapper was good too. Overall highly recommend this spot! read more

First time visit though we have walked by this place many, many times. Recommended by a friend as a great place to visit so here we are. Lunch on a Thursday in November, a cloudy day in the low eighties. We only had to wait a few minutes for a table outside, and the overall service and ambience was great. We started with the complimentary sour dough bread, followed by a dozen oysters (6 Pink Moon & 6 Honeymoon), Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, and the Oak Grilled Spanish Octopus. All four were wonderful, with some deft touches applied to each dish (see pictures). But the winner was the Oak Grilled Spanish Octopus, just exceptional. We will definitely be back. read more

Had the opportunity to have a Sunday Brunch (well our version at least) and let's just say I was one happy camper and was beaming with just as much sunshine like their signature yellow striped umbrellas. We were lucky enough to grab an outside table off of Brazos Street as a walk-in and with the sunny weather we had that day, it was exactly our glass of bubbles. Now I'm not sure about y'all but when I have oysters, there is a trinity of items that must be on my table. Bubbles. Oysters. French Fries (Frites if ya fancy). Had the chance to order a six variances of oysters that were more on the grittier/salty end (not a big fan of butter oysters) and enjoyed 5/6 styles. Like any good oyster-based establishment, they were awesome enough to have indicators when the oysters were different and provided a breakdown of the oysters. Now what I'm still dreaming about to this day is their french fries. They were crispy shoe string fries with the flakiest touch of salt that had a chokehold on me. I couldn't stop eating them. I wanted more. They were probably some of the best french fries I've had. They also serve the table with sourdough bread, fresh butter, salt flakes, and radishes. I may or may not have thought they were apple slices but that's a different story. The butter spread was so light and had the smoothest spread against a butter knife. One item you have to get for the table as a starter if you're here during brunch is their blueberry banana pancakes with chopped bacon bits. I don't think I can describe this dish justice but you are doing a disservice to your table if you do not get one. It was a great time and I'll definitely be back! read more

Had an *outstanding* late lunch at Clark's - not knowing the true nuances of oysters, I asked for an 'omakase' selection (a trick borrowed from sushi places), and the server hit perfection with a variety of everything. We drove in from San Antonio and missed our reservation. But they were able to sit us at the Oyster Bar pretty quick for a Friday evening! That worked out great, because we were ready to be in and out, to get to our son's Baseball game! Ashley had amazing service. She was so sweet to listen to me talk about my son pitching. Stumbled upon Clarks when I first moved to Austin & this is honestly a pretty solid spot. The ingredients are always super fresh, and you can definitely taste the quality. I've had their burger before and it's divine -- a little on the smaller side, but perfect for a light lunch if you're just dropping in. I usually come here for oysters and a quick drink (their happy hour oysters and Micheladas never miss), but this time I decided to try dinner and got the branzino. It was good and tasted fresh, but honestly had little to no flavor -- I just wish it had a little more kick or seasoning. The side salad that came with it was actually really good and kind of made the dish since it added some flavor. I also started with the clam chowder, which again was fresh but needed a little salt and pepper to bring it to life. Service was great as always, and even though it's a smaller spot, it's definitely one of Austin's hidden gems. I'd still come back for the oysters, the drinks, and that burger for sure! read more

One of my favorite spots in Austin it's delicious every single time! The cutest place located in the heart of all the fun! I always request patio seating to get the full ambiance. This visit we started with (not pictured) the wedge salad which is always top tier, I love the bacon on it! The lobster roll was amazing and the fries remind me of the 90's canned shoe string potato chips (yum!). The basque cake was recommended by our waitress and was the perfect top off to our dinner! Clark's is such a special spot. I personally don't love sitting inside because they have such a cozy little patio and I love sitting out there on a cool evening as the sun begins to set. It's surrounded by trees, warm lights, and neon signs. But we snagged a last minute reservation and all that was available was standard seating. They really set the mood as the evening progressed with the tea light candles and dimmed lights. We were greeted and seated immediately. Carrie was our waitress and she was friendly, attentive, warm and so easy going. It had been a while since I had dinner here but I knew I wanted the crudo plate, it is probably my favorite item from the cold bar. Clark's is a treat. If you're on vacation in ATX, it's a must. The Crab Louie Salad [ Iceberg Lettuce, Capers, Herbs, Thousand Island Dressing ] was the best version of that I've ever had, and the Crudo Plate [ Wasabi & Lemon Vinaigrette, Capers, Red Onion, Chive ] surprised me considering how far that fish had to be flown in. I appreciate how true it is that this is an Austin staple. You can tell they hold their place here, especially when looking for seafood in a place that's, well, not that great at serving seafood. Let's just say Austin isn't the place to go for seafood. However, Clark's is the closest you can get to Pacific fresh. $3.50 Oysters, half-off martinis ($9), and half-off burger for Happy Hour from 3-5 PM on weekdays. Options offered for palette cleansers such as sourdough bread served with sea salt and radish. If you're planning to go, I recommend reserving in advance. Space is limited. Best option is outdoor patio on a nicer day. Or at least not on a rainy day (there are heaters). Garbo's takes the lead for top Lobster Roll, but I do look forward to giving Clark's Lobster Roll a try in the near future. For the first visit, met my expectations, but still interested in what can "wow" me here. Ambiance fits the theme. In fact, if you disregard W 6th, you'd wonder if we were near a body of water due to the decor and uniform choice of the staff. read more

The food was all really delicious we ordered a round of oysters and they have oysters from all over the continent as well as Europe. They also had brunch specials for the oysters which made it that much more reasonable. I got their burger which is one of their dishes they are known for. I got it with a fried egg on it to go along with the brunch theme. The burger was fantastic and is one of the best burgers I have had in Austin. I wasn't a fan of the shoe string fries that came with the burger. We also got a crab cake for the table and it was delicious as well. Sexy. The oysters? Slippery perfection. My fiancée ordered a dirty martini that could've seduced a priest, and everything seemed set up for an unforgettable night in all the right ways. And then came...the potatoes. Now, context: my fiancée is gluten-free and dairy-free, living a clean life full of vegetables, purity, and digestive stability. So we ordered oysters, veggies, all the fresh stuff, feeling like responsible adults. But these potatoes arrived glistening, shimmering, SHINING in butter. Not a subtle amount. No, no. These potatoes were baptized, marinated, and spiritually anointed in butter. She figured, "You know what? Everything else is clean. How bad could this be?" Reader... it was bad. For the next seven days, we entered what can only be described as the Fart Apocalypse of 2023. That's right, basically 3 years later and its still burned into our memories. The food was delicious, and we especially appreciated Christian taking the time to go over which entrées were safe or could be modified for my daughter with Celiac's. The cocktail menu was great, with well-priced options that we enjoyed. Our only disappointment was with the wine list--there was just one Sauvignon Blanc offered, and it was quite expensive at $28 by the glass / $115 by the bottle. Given how seafood-forward the menu is, it would be nice to see a more approachable option in that category. Overall, we truly enjoyed our entrées and the attentive service. read more
