They've done countless jobs on my Sister's and Brother-in-Law's cars and that's how I found them. When I thought my lady's Buick had a transmission or bearing problem, they took it for a test ride with us and told us it just needed tires as they had hardened with age. They were right. No charge, these guys are just honest. Now, I had to schedule an appointment because my truck is leaking oil after I hit a pothole. I'm a pretty decent mechanic but I can't find the source of the leak and, frankly, I'm getting too old to do my own work. I am grateful I have found an honest, old school automotive repair shop that I can trust to do work I can't do anymore.

I really appreciated how trustworthy and professional he was. I felt completely comfortable handing over my keys while I was working a couple of blocks away. He was prompt, communicative, and kept me informed every step of the way. He diagnosed the issue clearly, and I even ran it by my regular out-of-state mechanic, who agreed with Chris's assessment, which gave me extra confidence. Since I rely on my van for work, timing was critical. Chris went above and beyond by coming back out on Sunday with with the parts and did the repair. He got everything taken care of, including replacing a transmission solenoid and servicing the transmission fluid. Also, installing my new wiper blades. Thanks to his accurate diagnosis, I was able to repair part of the transmission instead of going down the road of an unnecessary full rebuild, which would have been far more expensive and time-consuming. Just as importantly, he helped me avoid losing income by getting my van back up and running quickly. On top of that, I felt the pricing was fair and reasonable, especially considering the convenience of a mobile service and the quick turnaround over the weekend. I'm incredibly grateful to be back on the road with my van running like normal again. Chris was thorough, reliable, and truly went the extra mile. Negligent, Arrogant and Unethical…read more I prefer to put the worst auto shop experience of my life behind me and never look back, but given the negligence, arrogance and unethical behavior I experienced at Cowden Automotive, it's my social responsibility to share. I hired Cowden to do a simple hardtop installation on my truck since it takes 3 people to place top on vehicle, tho rest can be done by one. Day of install, Justin from Cowden called saying the top was "defective" and insisted I go into a legal battle w hardtop company. By an act of god, someone from Texas hardtop company happened to be in California visiting family. I asked rep to visit, Justin rudely fought this, but finally at great inconvenience to rep he came to Cowden. Turns out Cowden installed top without watching clear rudimentary installation video, they didn't remove 2x large parts before installing top, so top didn't fit! Rep re-installed on site at no cost. I shared installation video w Justin 2x via email before install, 1x day of install, plus install day I confirmed with Justin + his dad owner Mike they would follow video instructions. Their only job was to follow simple instructions, they didn't, nor did they have skills to trace steps with video after failed install. Mistakes happen, but there was zero remorse from Justin, zero cost reduction, he was very rude to me, the rep, and had I not caught installation error on video, it's clear he'd have charged for extra time due to shop negligence, plus I'd be out $7K paid for top. I asked him about accountability, he said he doesn't stand by the work done at shop, since he can't oversee everyone. Wow. Hands down, most unethical, negligent and arrogant auto shop I've ever experienced. I wouldn't trust these guys to install windshield wiper blades, much less anything mechanical where safety is concerned. Beware.

The mechanics did a good job and Matthew in the front office was helpful, responsive, and informative throughout the process. They even found a burned out brake light bulb and replaced it for free. I can't recommend Carvana, but I do recommend UCS Auto.

Sometime in June, 2026 this is the bad experienced I had in this auto repair shop. For more than 3…read moreyears now, I was renting a 2022 Tesla Model 3 from Hertz when the trunk Power Liftgate Actuator broke. So, after getting a repair voucher from Hertz, they sent me to this UCS Auto Repair Shop in San Bruno. Hertz office is closed to this shop and has contrated them to do service for our rented cars. After changing this lift actuator with a new one, I noticed that the trunk itself is misaligned. Therefore, I complained to the owner, Jeremy about it. But he said, we do not aligned that. A big question why when it was not like that before? So, I left without that fixed. Days later, I went back to them again (after informing Hertz) and asked an inspection to my car. I ran over a "garden rake" and got stucked under my car in the freeway. Upon my personal inspection of the car, the undercarriage cover was ripped cut by this accident. Now, its with UCS for would be inspection. The owner, Jeremy did not know... I was watching his mechanic while he removed the black plastic undercarriage cover of my car. To my surprise, this mechanic did not even made a thorough inspection of my car and when he removed the plastic undercarriage cover, he replaced it with somewhat "rectangular" shape part that he toke from their room. I saw him removed the original part that was somewhat "triangular shape" plastic cover that contours to the Tesla undercarriage. In other words, he changed it with a wrong or different part. Right at that point, I was surprised because I am 100% sure this mechanic put a different part. When I complained to Jeremy, he denied it and even saying they did not replaced it. Of course, I knew because I was there watching. And when he asked his mechanic (because Im already agitated), I was in front hearing him telling his boss... he did. So, I caught his dishonesty. The problem now, because this is not the right part, it is protruding underneath towards the sides that it actually vibrates in high speed and now partly broken and scraped when I passed thru a "speed bump". I am driving this rented car for my "Uber" business driving. Needless to explain, I need a sound and safe car for the public. It is easy for me to go back to Hertz and get it replaced but they dont have one already. And I need a this car for my Uber work. And it takes month to get an SFO permit for a particular registered car. I protested and complained to this UCS boss, Jeremy, but instead of addressing my problem, he refused and told me that I am not owner and they deal "only" to Hertz. So, if I have a complain or problem, they dont deal with me. I explained to him that I am renting this car for $560 a week and the liability and rehabilitation of this car is transfered to me now. He threw me out and refused service, and as he told me, they have the right to refuse service to me. Despite of my loud protesting, I left his place with a heavy heart with helpless feeling. This is from a shop that has no regard to its clients and sense of responsibility or obligation to its clients. And I think they are breaking a law. They have not addressed the two problems I stated about. Now, if this you, would you comeback and recommend this place to others?
