I have been a client of hometown for 8 years and my folks even longer. On September 20th 2024, I brought my 2007 Honda Fit to Steve to take a look at some service lights and a funny noise. He fully diagnosed it on the spot, told me I needed to bring it back for a new transmission and new brakes and that he'd call some parts companies and get back to me with an estimate. He never contacted me again. A few nights ago, 12/2/24 my engine started billowing smoke late in the evening and I emergently had my car towed to hometown after hours, thinking that as a loyal customer they may be able to get me in. Instead, I got a phone call from Steve telling me that they have never and will never work on Honda Fits, my car is blocking the plows (there is no snow) and that I need to bring it elsewhere. I asked for a recommendation, and he told me that no one will work on a Honda fit and he won't send me to one of his friends. I brought up the diagnostics he did, and he told me that when he did it "6 months or a year ago" (actual timeline = 10 weeks) that he did indeed call me back with prices, "or maybe left a message". So in one conversation he both admitted that he did work on my car and looked into parts but that he also has never worked on my car and won't in the future. I think I asked one more question and he told me my keys were in the cup holder and hung up on me. Great business, Steve!

The reason written was the side passenger mirror was not functioning. The cause was a broken turn signal in the mirror. After searching for a used mirror and having it installed, I returned to have my car reinspected. 8 weeks had gone by. This time I was told the car failed inspection due to the license plate light being out and a small dig on one tire (which was there during the first inspection). When I questioned Rob he became quickly agitated, defensive and ranted unprofessionally! Wow! Needless to say, I'll never return due to the questionable integrity of the shop and its customer representative Rob who needs to learn to deal professionally with customers!

I've been to probably 25 around different parts of the country. This is hands down, by far, the best, most competent, fair priced mechanic I have ever come across. And it's not even close. True diagnostics. Not just reading codes and getting you to replace things for the sake of charging you. John is a wizard and clearly knows cars unbelievably well. John figured out what was going on with my engine with so many other mechanics could not. John also figured out that previous mechanics hastily replaced things, and did so lazy, leading to problems in themselves. I've never tipped a mechanic before but I just had to do so after this service. My car wasn't drivable. It was kicking while driving. This car is my baby I've been road tripping around the country with it for 10 months. I had 12 codes before Double G Auto, now I have 0 codes. Car drives better than when I first bought it. I joked with John I would consider moving to town just so I could bring every car I ever own to him for the rest of my life. Would save me so much time, energy, effort and money. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
