Horrible service! 3 bartenders looked right at us at the outdoor bar and waited on people on both sides of my husband and I and even said to the people behind us what can I get you back there ! So rude .. 3 different girls waited on other people that came up to the bar after us .. finally the gentleman bartender said have you guys been waited on ; sigh ) ... last time I checked bartenders / waitresses relied on their TIPS ! We also Waited, " two hours" for only 2 appetizers ! The girl that was bartending inside ran circles around the 3 girls working the bar outside and it was even her First day working there .. One toilet inside for women and one toilet for men inside . needless to say long lines and you wait to go to bathroom every time ! there was Porta John's outside but who wants to use that ... What a joke .. hire better trained help and more of it outside and inside and hire more cooks and people running the kitchen! We will not be back ! read more

Such a shame too bc we live so close and would love to come there a lot and it has gone downhill. They really need better help outside. read more

We reserved the small private front room for an anniversary party for approximately 15 family members. The room was free of charge! When we arrived, the room was all ready for us, beverages and everything we needed, cups, napkins, etc. were set up. The service was prompt and courteous and the food was very good. The last time l was here it was known as "The Grille" Came back again and it was simply terrific!! Went there tonight with the in-laws, as some of my family (bride + 2 daughters) were out of town for the weekend. Logan was our server tonight and he was excellent!! When we needed him, he was there, when we were enjoying the band, he took care of his other tables. Apparently this was his 2nd night "on his own" after getting trained - he was a quick learner!! I got the taquitos - wow. Superb! Especially with the sour cream and salsa! My father-in-law ordered some chicken wings, with honey-cajun bbq sauce. They were excellent!! (I traded 1 of my taquitos for 2 of his wings). My mother-in-law ordered a hot dog (her favorite food at the moment). She enjoyed every bite!! French fries were seasoned and they were awesome too! (Yeah, l snuck some when she wasn't looking...!) Lastly, the weather was simply perfect!! Enjoyed our evening all around!!! Recommend! read more

***DIVE ALERT!!!*** In a bad way. Went in at 5:50 on a Thursday and apparently it's "trivia night" that starts at 6:30. So there are a bunch of dip shits saving seats at the bar and 20 more empty seats with reserved signs on them. Giving a bad review for one reason... bullshit. After my initial review of The Grille - which wasn't good - they apparently reopened under a new name (The Backyard) with new ownership(?). If that's true, why are their Yelp and Facebook pages still named for The Grille? The Grille wasn't well liked. You'd think they'd want to distance themselves from those reviews and let everyone know that this place is supposed to be different - supposed to be better.* That, though, isn't even why I'm giving a bad review - though it does fit with the "bullshit" theme. it's shady. My current review has to do with the food. Went in last Thursday to eat and to join friends for trivia (we won). I ordered some "extra crispy" hot wings. They should be renamed "barely crispy" hot wings. The taste was fine but why bother with the descriptors like "traditional", "crispy" and "extra crispy" if you're just going to serve them however the cook decides to send them. I'm curious if the "traditional" are just softly blanched in warm oil. Again, though, the wings tasted fine. What was really irritating was ordering a burger I've had, at least, a couple times before and getting something that was near similar but changed enough so that it wasn't what I wanted at all. In fact, it was why I suggested we meet there. I wanted The Backyard burger so bad. I was jonesing for it. So, I ordered my burger w/ no onions and what I got had no onions and additionally, no "Crispy Dillies." In the past, "Crispy Dillies" - as they're named on the online menu - were thinly-sliced, fried pickle chips (battered dill pickles). They weren't on my burger. OK, I didn't say anything because our server sucked and couldn't be bothered to check on us and - entirely disappeared before we'd finished eating and left. Our friends decided to order a Backyard Burger to split and they too were delivered a burger w/ no Crispy Dillies. Luke, however, asked about them. Our, apparent, replacement server straight up lied and said that the menu is misleading and that the burger is supposed to have dill-flavored potato chips and that they were on his burger. Still, he gave them some regular dill pickles to put on the burger. But, the thing is, that's straight bullshit. We've each had that burger before. I know what was on it because I know what I liked about it - and it was the combo of "Crispy Dillies", BBQ sauce and queso. Whatever the truth is, tell it. Don't have them? OK. Say so. Changed the burger? Rename it. Don't present it as the same f'ing thing and then tell customers a bullshit lie about what the burger is. We know what it WAS and this wasn't the same f'ing thing at all. Not sure we'll be back for a while. This kind of thing is ridiculous and I'm all worked into a rage again relating this back to my review. I'm just sad my desire for that once great burger wasn't satiated. So far as I know, there's no where else to get anything that was remotely like it. read more

We recently tried the grill again March of 2020. It's had numerous owners and the food has been kind of lame for the most part. Since the current owners have opened we have tried three times now to go in and get seated and have waited for a waitress or waiter. This was the third time we came in, seated ourselves and waited 10 minutes. No one came to offer us drinks or menus. So disappointing because the place was half empty. 3rd Strike they're out! Why waste your time. The place can't be that good if it's half empty on a Friday night at 7 p.m. . What a shame because the building is quite nice and the patio in the back is pretty cool. Otherwise, since it's in Brunswick, they should just bulldoze it and put in another car dealership it's a wasted piece of land. read more

This is a great sports bar. I had chicken wings and they were large and I was happy with them. The chicken tenders and loaded fries were tasty, too. This is a nice place to go and hangout for a bit, have a few beers, eat bar food, and chat with friends. Looking forward to summer volleyball and going out on the patio. I feel like a lot of the other reviewers here need to revise their expectations for what makes a good sports bar. This place is a great example of one. read more

While waiting for our table at another restaurant, we popped in to check this place out and have a drink to kill time. The service was good and the atmosphere wasn't bad. After reading an article in the local paper for places to check out on Superbowl Sunday, I read that The Backyard was doing $10 domestic buckets and I hardly do anything fun with my adult sons so I invited them out for a few bones, beers and game. Since my hubby and I were there the night before and was satisfied, figured why not right! Yeah....so loud my implant in my ear was throbbing. The waitress was very good and she did turn down the speaker right above our heads. Shortly before the halftime show, the sound got really loud again (actually seemed louder than before) so I went to ask the waitress and she said she would go ask again. Then a guy came at me like "hey, well the halftime show is about to start and it's a pretty big one" He said this a couple of times and also said we were in a bar. He said he could seat us farther away if we'd like and again reminded me I was in a bar. First I was a bit taken aback that I was talking to the waitress about the sound and he came out of nowhere. Then rather aggressively. Before I could respond, he was already insulting. Then one final "it's the Superbowl and you're in a bar" So I said wow, you didn't have to be like that. Look ..I am 53 and not a bar hopper and while I'm not young, I'm also not senile or a complete idiot to the extent that I had no faculties about me to know where I was. I totally understood it was loud, the Superbowl etc. But to be short with me about it because I really wasn't saying anything. And how loud does it really need to be? Sorry but for a GM, really needs some CS skills dude...really. I won't be back nor will I recommend anyone. Nobody wants talked to like they are an idiot. read more

We have lived across the street from this establishment for 15 years. It's been several names and owners. We stopped in on Friday night and it was not busy. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple drafts. The head on both of our drafts was at least 4 inches. I just sorta looked at the bartender like, really? I'm paying for a full beer, not foam. We ordered the pineapple habanero wings and were warned they were spicy. They weren't. We even said as much to the bartender, didn't seem to care. While our spice level is higher than most, still not spicy. The menu was basically pizza or sandwiches. Not really diverse, but wasn't in the mood for pizza nor hamburgers. Would perhaps go back for a special, or in the summer and sit at the bar, but had hoped for more. I do have to say the inside is redone nicely, however while the bathrooms while really nice, they need more than one potty for the women. read more

Apparently, members of the staff at The Backyard need some additional training in how to treat customers - particularly female customers. My daughter was subjected to obscene "jokes" by the bartender and then verbally abused and followed to the parking lot by an equally crass and abusive female member of staff when she complained of the behavior of the bartender. She was treated in this manner because she told the bartender about a chunk of ice in her shot. The bartender told her to "Just swallow it, I'm sure you've done plenty of swallowing." How in 2022 do people not understand that a statement like that is offensive and degrading? It isn't "funny". Then to cause further harm, a female staffer took up the obscenity gauntlet, calling my daughter a "f_cking bitch" who "couldn't get the joke." This female staffer kept up the abuse all the way out to the parking lot. And for the record, my daughter was not drunk. She met a couple of friends at the Backyard for a farewell drink before she moves out of state. She was not unruly or disruptive and yet she was treated with disrespect and abuse. Great atmosphere, but service and food could be better. I've eaten here a dozen times, and the service is hit or miss. Sometimes you'll place your order and the food will be out in a reasonable time (10-15 minutes), and sometimes it will take longer. Friendly advice: Stay away from the pizza. Around the edges is fine, but they never cook the dough all the way through in the center. If you like raw dough in the middle of your slice, you'll like this place. read more

I went to this bar with a group of friends. When I walked in my friends immediately ordered drinks and did not get Id'd. We are all of age, including myself. I went to order a drink and they immediately id'd me which is completely understandable as I do look younger than my friends, but after giving them my out of state license (I go to college here) they denied me service and accused my license of being fake. I really tried convincing them it was real because it was, but the bartender working insisted it was fake. I just turned 21 in April, but i even pulled up instagram posts from my birth proving i was 21 lol. Anyways they were really rude about the whole ordeal and the manager claimed, "he didn't run a "white table cloth establishment" whatever that means. I think he was referring to the fact that I am from California, however I didn't grow up rich and wasn't even going to buy anything off their food menu because it was too expensive. One of their waiters came up to and said "if you're 21 than i'm 21." in such a rude way. I was continually telling the bartender that I understood it was her job to ID and I was in no way upset with her, and she literally mocked me after I said that. She had also served a person who WAS UNDERRAGE AND DID NOT ID THEM LMAO. It's just not how you run a company from a customer service aspect. I think the place was cool looking and had a nice vibe, but I couldn't get over how rude both the bartenders, staff, and even manager were to me. Would only recommend if you wear a pound of makeup and look 85 or if you want to be yelled at for having a perfectly valid drivers license. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE IN A RESTAURANT EVER. I still cannot even believe what happened at the Grille on 8/9/16. I dined with 3 friends on a warm evening and decided to sit on the patio. Hostess took us to our seats and when we were finally greeted by our waitress, she chastised us for sitting outside. She had an attitude right from the get-go, she clearly did not want to wait tables outdoors. It was our first time at the Grille, so we had a lot of questions about the menu, portions, etc to which our waitress answered. Annoyed, but answered. Our drinks arrived a little delayed, delivered by a bartender. We were the only table outside and there were few cars in the lot, so we didn't imagine it would be busy. Service was slow enough you would have expected a full house. Most of our food came out together, but of course delivered by someone other than our waitress. In the lull between ordering and delivery, the waitress never brought any condiments, napkins, silverware or anything. The food came and we had to wait to eat it because of this. My friends split a cheeseburger and there was nothing with it. No pickles, lettuce, tomato, onion... so friend asks waitress for at least some pickles. Waitress says haughtily 'well you could have had some pickles if you'd have asked for them!'. She arrives moments later with a plate of pickle spears. My companions have all started eating and are nearly finished, but my food has not yet arrived. 6 lousy teriyaki wings. Then all of a sudden, a short angry man comes walking over with the wings and THAT'S WHEN SHIT WENT DOWN. He was yammering on about something then said 'Who has the wings?' when I replied he literally DROPPED the plate in front of me and said 'Here's your fuckin wings'. Our jaws hit the table once we realized he was not kidding around. He (THE OWNER!) was clearly upset over something he thought we said about fat, bald Greek men and was screaming and causing quite a commotion. He told us he didn't need us making all that noise in his restaurant and he didn't want people like us in his restaurant. Now he's walking around our table like a circling shark, he is clearly out of his GD MIND. I am certainly not going to touch the food he brought and now my husband is MAD so we ask for the check and get ready to leave. Angry guy says "GET THE FUCK OUT. I own this place, I have plenty of money and don't need yours." My girlfriend and I start walking out at this point. Other friend stops to ask the bartender for the check instead, but bartender just shakes his head and says 'He said not to....' Husband asked people at the bar if we were being too loud and they all said "No, he just goes off like that sometimes". Wait, so this is normal? And totally acceptable? I would normally offer a fair review and comment on the taste of the food, prices, atmosphere, etc. But in this case, I couldn't care less what the rest had to offer. The food tasted like tears and bad business and the place looked like failure. Not only will I never again patronize this establishment, I will go out of my way to tell people to never come here. Just wanted to give two thumbs up to the Grille. Awesome customer service and a great place to have in the neighborhood. Food was delicious as always. Highly recommend their buffalo chicken dip served with toasted pita. Seems simple, but amazing how many places can screw this up, but not The Grille. Stopped in here with my son & my mom, on a Wednesday evening. According to the sign at the door, this place is now under new management. It's obvious there are improvements to how things look inside. It's has a cleaner & classier appearance. The owners have done a nice job with everything. And there are still plenty of TV's on the walls, as well as music playing at a reasonable volume - not too loud, so you have conversation at a normal level. ;) We ordered chicken quesadillas as an appetizer. These are Excellent, and highly recommended! My mom ordered a Po'Boy sandwich, and my son & I shared a Hawaiian Pizza. My mom said the sandwich was Very Good, and she would order it again in the future. My son and I liked the hawaiian pizza, for the most part. The only thing that was a little odd, is they use a white sauce on it which contains cream cheese. ...not necessarily a bad thing, actually, it's OK. Personally, I would have preferred a traditional pizza sauce. But, it was good. Regarding the service, the staff members were all very courteous, the service time was very good, and they checked back with us frequently to see how things were going and if we wanted anything else. My friends and I have frequented this bar over the years, and unfortunately, have had to stop going all together, due to consistently bad service. The food can be really good. Greek food with HUGE portions. That is if the waitress remembers to put your order in, puts it in correctly, and if the Chef is having a good day and completely cooks your food. It really is HIT or MISS. They do have great specials during happy hour. both food and liquor. While they have a pretty good beer bottle and liquor selection, their draft beer is never working. Over the 2+ years we've been going here, I think a small handful of times we were able to get a draft beer. So let's talk about atmosphere. Chef Artie has really missed the mark here. Is this place a bar, restaurant or night club? I guess you can have all three, if you execute it properly, which he has not done. The place is outdated and at times can appear dingy and dirty due to lack of cleaning. The pictures that are posted are obviously very old. There is 1 toilet stall for the woman, which is a DISASTER, always. We have been in here trying to enjoy dinner before, with vulgar rap music blaring and drunken bar flies enjoying their weekend get-a-way. Not exactly what I want to hear while I am trying to eat my $15 meal. It's really a shame that this place does not have better management because the patio is HUGE and the volleyball court is a great attraction. This is the place they invented the "Bar Rescue" show about. Great potential, horrible execution. We've also headed out for a few drinks late at night, to find that the employees, including Artie use this place as their personal play ground. Artie can be seen groping his flavor of the week instead of tending to his customers, and the bartenders are routinely drunk and non-attentive. I get it, there is a place for everyone. I came back as I said I would... This time we sat ourself at the bar. Theres actually two bars - one of them is filled with wine bottles. It's gorgeous. I had The Grille Gyro and it was reaalllly good. It had grilled onions & red peppers, tzatziki and feta. YUM. My buddy had the calamari and he said "It's good and the Hawaiian sauce is f***in delish!" My last review of The Grille I knocked the food - but they totally redeemed themselves this time! My apologies to this local business. You do indeed have great food! My only complaint this time was when we arrived we ordered two draft beers - the server came back with a bottle of beer and a 1/2 full glass of draft beer and stated "Here, the draft is down" and walked away. ?? Got the bill and we were charged for two bottles of beer. I'll be back and most likely they'll be a 4 star. read more

Great patio, great people, great staff, great food, great drinks, everything is great here. One thing that really stood out for me is the above average and down right delicious eats in a bar environment. Although I am partial to a Greek inspired menu, there are all kinds of options here. The patio is great, its very large and there are several activities to do out there in the summer, i.e. cornhole, volleyball, etc. Another thing that I love about the grille is the bar selection. I have never seen a bar that doesn't specialize in beer, have so many options. I'm very picky and only drink bud light lime and lienenkugel summer shandy and they had both. This is definitely a first for me. Great job Chef Artie, you turned that location into a real winner! read more

I'm not one for going places I know I'll run in to people but this is quite a bar. HUGE outdoor patio and bar with a DJ on the weekend. They have a pretty good selection of beer....and ciders! Still the only place I've found that serves Hornsby's, which is my absolute favorite. The pizza is so good. I haven't had much else to eat here but from what I understand, it's more of a party place. There is a volleyball court in the back that I have played on many times. All in all, a great time for a group of friends. read more

The food was delicious and our server was very sweet. But She also was in charge of way too many tables, which left her to not give her best service to everyone no matter how nice she was. And she was very nice and even with all she had to do still got refills and beer! Wings were yummy and tossed in a delicious sauce! Burger was cooked great. My complaint isnt food or the friendliness of the staff. But the lack of guidelines being followed. It's one thing that Medina county is not being required for patrons to wear masks in public, but our server wore hers improperly, under her nose and eventually took it entirely off while talking to all her tables. The tables under the tent are not six feet apart and the bar is being allowed to be completely full, with no spaces between guests who did not arrive together. The young boy bringing out food was also not wearing a mask or wore it improperly. And there was no one sanitizing tables and chairs between guests. I saw one bartender wearing her mask, but the bar was also not sanitized between guests, nor were the swings. I work in a restaurant and we have one person on staff per every dinner shift who is purely there for sanitization. We visited this restaurant often before lock down and would continue too, if we felt more safe as customers during this time. read more
