I visited one of their other locations a year or so ago, and when I saw this one when I was at (Scene 75 next door) with my family, I gave the kids passes to play games and went to the Lizard! I met some other Dads that also ditched Scene 75; all were happy with their decision. I had a Jerk Chicken sandwich and swapped in some fantastic onion rings. And of course, like the last time I was at their other establishment, I ordered a side of "Fire In The Hole" sauce to dip on. My god, I LOVE that sauce. And, wow, it is HOT! Legit, not for the faint of heart, enjoy the sweat, impeccable, I love it. They also have a ton of beers on tap. Simple salad has not been assembled carefully. It included part of the lettuce head that's typically trashed. Manager Sharon said they buy the lettuce bagged. Awesome! I've been to many Winking Lizards across Ohio and I'm not surprised why this place is busy. This place has quick service, good food and friendly staff. The guy that helped us was so awesome, made me feel like a regular for being my first time here. The food is good, portions are big and it came out at a reasonable time. Poor service, never made it past the door after our party of 6 got turned away for dinner at 5:40pm. The restaurant was slow and we were told to sit our toddlers at a high top or wait an hour. So, I've had several bad experiences as of lately. The service has been lacking. Recently (twice) our orders were screwed up and today I arrived to pick up our order just to find out that they never made it. (I overheard the girl tell the other girl at the counter) She then ran back to kitchen. She came back with the manager and he told me "their running 15 minutes behind..... despite seeing tons of take out on the counter waiting to be picked up. I HATE being lied to. I'd be less upset if he was honest. He then asked if I wanted some some pie to take home... No. Did I want a beer. No. Just want my damn dinner on Father's Day........ I still like the food but the service has been lacking. There is one young lady that works that front counter (short, blonde) that always does great... I need to figure out her work days. So they ask us to give them 15 minutes. We do. As I come back in the manager is bringing our order up. He thanked me for my patience and said that they took an item off of our bill. Let me start by saying I'm a big fan of the Winking Lizard. If I am traveling to Ohio I usually see if there is one relatively close to my destination because I do enjoy the food and beverage selection. This is the fourth different Lizard location I have been to and was unfortunately the worst due to service. This is a large location and has a typical Lizard layout. We were seated promptly and then waited to have our drink orders taken and then waited again for our food orders to be taken. It was easily 10-15 min from the time we sat down before we all received a drink or had a food order taken (we visited at 2:00 during a weekday so there was no reason for the delay). Our waitress was slow, inefficient, not friendly or attentive. She only had a few tables and was the same way with everyone I observed. Food was ok for the most part. I had boneless wings (spicy garlic sauce is top notch). My wife and oldest had grilled cheese and soup of the day which they both enjoyed. My youngest had a t-bone. I had a piece of the steak and it had very little flavor. He did like his sides. Overall it was a disappointing visit. Hope my next Lizard visit has a drastic improvement. read more

Winking Lizard always scores high on my list because the food is always good and the sheer amount of beer available is incredible. This location has two nice patios with fire tables, making it perfect for fall and winter. I don't visit this one as often as others in the area, but I never regret it when I do. read more

I HlGHLY RECOMMEND avoiding brunswick location on Tuesdays- the Skeeball leagues have a lot of really disrespectful, rude and obnoxious players. When I asked to have the management talk to them, only to dial it back a notch... not wanting them to be quiet, just not yell so loud that I jump out of my chair and can't hear the people at my table, the management refused. Never mind that everyone around me was unhappy. Then... the guys started making comments about me when they saw it bothered me... allowing bullies to dictate how they treat their customers! Second time here. My husband wings were amazing. He got Cajun. I got the Cajun burger. Didn't really taste like Cajun. But it was good. The burger wasn't dry. Update: 9-16-1992 12:45 pm I went to winking lizard today for lunch. It was a pick-up. I had to head back to work. I was excited to eat this bacon cheeseburger. My burger was way too pink and nasty looking. It was hard to hold my throw up back. The lady on the phone never asked me how I wanted my burger. Ugh so they assumed I wanted with pink. We love this location and come here regularly, mainly because the service is phenomenal. You will never sit with an empty drink. Good atmosphere and lots of TVs showing different sports. Their COVID procedures are some of the best that we have seen. The pizza and wraps are really good. A lot of the other food is meh, like at all of the Winking Lizards- just bar food that is nothing spectacular. Nice thing about the Lizard is that you always know what you're going to get - decent bar food (and a ton of choices - the menu is huge - even a good job on non-standard bar food - like at clam bake time). The Winking Lizard is a wonderful place for food, drinks, and great times. Your event will begin with friendly hostesses at the door and free popcorn 5 feet away. This location is broken up into 4 different sections. The Bar, with lots of high top tables (perfect for watching the big game), a Dining Room with both booths and tables, a heated outdoor bar (full service all year long) and the Patio for those warm summer nights. They run food and beer specials pretty much all week long (wings, burgers, ribs, pizza and Domestics) and have the largest beer selections I have every seen. With monthly draft changes, and Glass of the month specials, you could go almost everyday and never drink the same beer twice. There are flat panel TV's everywhere, a small game room (including skee ball) and 2011 is the 25th Anniversery of The Lizard, (originally opened in Penninusla, Ohio) although they've only been in Brunswick for a couple of years now, so join the World Tour of Beers, have some wings (I recommend the Goldfinger), and enjoy! read more

They weren't even good. The fries were super hot I wish she warned us. My tongue is burnt. I hated it here. Never coming back. i used to really love coming here when I was younger their burgers and wings were very good I particularly loved the spicy sesame and Goldfinger flavored wings. I had this place rated at five out of five until my last visit when the chicken tenders were so chewy and sliding out of their breading with zero flavor. we explain to them our issue and they said they understood their new chicken tenders weren't as good as the old ones and they want to make the change. their wings I remember used to be very juicy and moist but this time we ordered extra crispy so maybe that was the issue, but they were pretty much chicken jerky they were very dry. I might come back here one more time and give it one last chance to see if it'll improve my rating of the chicken wings without ordering extra crispy. hopefully this place improves because I was very let down at one of my favorite restaurants growing up. read more

I used to go to this location once a week before the pandemic. I loved all of their food, specials and drinks. Since the pandemic I've been there a little more than a handful of times and I have been terribly disappointed in all my visits. I think they are trying to cut costs of everything and it shows. Burgers are now thinner, with a 50cent bun while the fry portions are smaller than before. The chicken Pattie's used for sandwiches WERE very large and crispy, they are now similar to the 'chicken nugget' patty that are chewy. I had the bone in wings last night, and they were over cooked and dry with little to no sauce. Additional side of sauce is 40cents (which I'd be fine paying if the wings had sauce on them to begin with). The atmosphere is still great and the bartenders are always on point which is why I keep coming back, but if you're going for the food maybe just got to Steak 'n Shake down the street. read more

Update: We've been back several times since the first visit I wrote about. The doggy bag incident. The regional manager contacted me and assured us the issues would be discussed with staff and he invited me back for a free meal to win my business back. I did go back however I declined to use the free meal as that is not why I use Yelp. I even had some idiot DM me about the original review accusing me of trying to get free stuff by writing bad reviews. Anyway, every time we have been back, the food has been fair to good, and the service has been good. If we are there on a Monday or Tuesday and we have a couple wings or slices of pizza left over there is no hassle about taking them home. Used to be a frequent visitor of this spot. Recently, one of the employees at the bar made fun of my Clemson Tigers. I'm okay with some good natured ribbing, but the beer tasted like there was spit in it. I took a second sip to make sure, then refused to drink the rest of it. This coincides with a few months back I, I found a hair in my burger. Had the BIGGEST BURGER IN MY LIFE there last night!!!! Forgot what it was called but I think it was 2 one pound patties!!!!!! So what do I do? tell them to pour chili over top my fries!!!!! These places are everywhere!! Well I guess I am too if I'm reviewing multiple locations, right? This WL is in Brunswick where I meet a couple that I've known since college and we always sit around, catch-up, exchange belated birthday gifts, and eat / drink. This is usually a 2+ hour occasion and WL staff do not seem to mind at all. This specific location is always busy, especially the bar. Popcorn machine is always full of delicious, perfectly salted popped corn. We always get the pizza and wings which everyone seems to enjoy, kids always find something off of the kids menu, they're not old enough for the spicy garlic wings. The restaurant is clean, bathrooms are nice, and there's a small game room upon entering the place. I guess it fits the Brunswick crowd to a tee. There are other options up on Pearl but I prefer to be close to the highway, easy on, easy off Daniel-son. read more

generally, i think Winking Lizard is just OK, though i do like the Brunswick one a little better than most. WL has a tremendous beer selection. the food can be anywhere from disappointing (pizza) to really good (BBQ Pork sandwich and the wings). really, it's the food that keeps me from wanting to go there it's just seems more miss than hit. there's also the fact that they're always packed it seems. for business owners, this is great. for a guy like me, not so much. i like it a little quiet from time to time. anyway, like i said, WL is OK and i'll certainly go there again to get some good beer. you owe it to yourself to at least do that much. read more

Thank you Winking Lizard Corporate for making my decision to reduce my patronage of your establishment that much easier. Our family was excited when the Brunswick Winking Lizard (WLB) opened and it has become a regular, almost weekly, sometimes daily, choice for us to enjoy great service and good food in our area. However, after experiencing your recent menu changes (which we knew were coming but not to the extent they have) we decided this evening to sharply reduce our patronage. We have made good friends in the staff of WLB with them almost all knowing our likes, dislikes, sharing family stories and really feeling like this was a true local establishment. You can then understand why we were so surprised to find that you made major changes and eliminations to the menu items which were based more on your chain as a whole and not on the local flavors and desires of your patrons. Obviously the people in one area may not enjoy an item to the extent another does but using average data to deny all patrons those items seems a bit short sighted. This evening we literally sat down for a meal we would otherwise have greatly enjoyed only to order sodas, one appetizer and make the decision to leave because there was literally multiple menu choices we normally enjoy removed from the menu. One, two items.. sure.. but eliminating enough items to cause an entire party to decide there was nothing there for them? You might want to look into that. What really stuck me as darkly humorous was how happy our server was to tell us that we could now order wings in packs of FIVE instead of SIX! While this makes them easier to count, once you realize they're still the same price you realize it's more about maintaining or increasing your profit margin than it is about "ensuring the freshest food for our customers." I think I finally understand why the Lizard is Winking at it's customers. So, best of luck with your new menu, I'm sure those who can't get a seat at the always crowded Panini's up the block will still need somewhere to overflow to. I hope the penny-wise and pound-foolish approach works for you. It will be sad to see another abandoned space in an Ohio strip mall. read more
