Years later, this place is still ickkk! Went tonight to a free event that boasted fundraising activities like raffles and auctioned lap dances for breast cancer! I figured, yes I can get behind this!! Got there, the guys at the front stop us at the door and are like $20 bucks, can't come in unless u pay $20, then after I mention that I thought it was free and you pay for the other stuff we got passed off to some other guy. $20 bucks, I ask if they take card, nope we need cash. It all felt sleazy and bad vibes. We walked right out the door. I have no problem trying to support cancer patients/survivors as I am a cancer survivor myself, but the interaction was super yuck and not even sure if the money was going to go in some rando's pocket or the persons they were fundraising for. Once again, Badlander leaves a bad taste. Ps. We ran into one of the ladies that we talked to at dinner before we headed to Badlander after the whole thing that I mentioned above. She was clearly intoxicated and she mentioned that they charged her $40 and she mentioned feeling taken advantage of. read more

If you want to go out for karaoke avoid this place! I was the only person who sang and got the honor of my song being ruined by the actual song (with words of the singer) being played, so pretty much nobody could hear me sing. I was the only person who got that treatment, and I got it on video. This was my first time in a bar, and my first experience doing karaoke. Hi I have noticed that a manager by the name is Natasha has be racist to customers and not treating customers in the right way and there have been alot of people noticing it and I believe she is not the right match for a manager position. and I have been a regular at the complex for almost 6 years. I have watched her multiple times treat people in a very unprofessional way. I hope that this can be fix. Cause a lot of regulars do feel uncomfortable coming in when she is there. I have heard her use the n word multiple times to customers that have not come forward. But I don't think it's okay for her to be calling people names like that. Also I was sexually assaulted by her a couple months ago while she was drinking. She sit on me and began to give me a lap dance and put her hand in my mouth and made my mouth bleed. And I asked her multiple times to stop and get off of me. And she didn't. She told me that I had to go home with her to have sex with her. And I told multiple bouncers what she did. I am good friends with most of your employees and I told them about it and they try to get her a taxi home. And the taxi driver declined her the ride. Really this bar is one of the only places to listen to ok hard house music.. Sadly it was not good hard house, it was just hard house.. Some of the bartenders are amazing, nice and helpful. Others are used to a much slower pace. Which might be a good idea for them to get back to that slower pace.. I was not ecstatic with the music and the fact that there was a completely freaked out bartender did not help things.. Just remember when you are here that you are in a small town, so the best DJ's arn't playing everynight, also don't have a bad night because one bartender couldn't find his ass through a busy night. He will be a jerk next year and you will be out of the state. read more

Best place to go on major party nights in Missoula! These are the parties that usually happen there on a weekly basis: Monday: Motown Monday's - a soulful dance party with all of your favorite Motown tracks. Wednesday: kraptastic karaoke- The most ridiculous karaoke party I've seen. Thursday: party volcano - a killer dance party for the college Weekend starter (Thursday) Friday: A rotation between EDM music 90s music and other parties coming through Missoula. Saturday: absolutely - absolutely with Kris Moon. Best DJ voted by the Missoula independent. read more

Or should I say the Badlander complex is 5 bars with very different styles. The palace and the badlander are great music venues, small club shows ranging from dance/electronic to reggae to metal to punk to indy and all things in between. The golden rose is a small but comfortable bar that is connected to the other bars, a good place to chill between bands and play poker on Saturday night. The Savoy is a casino, and the Central is a bar/grill kinda joint (not that good in my opinion). Great weekly specials! Like service industry night...2 for 1 for the service slaves...and jazz martini night is so nice and classy. Really cool looking bar...unfortunately it seems entirely filthy :( every Thursday the place fills with sweat drenched dancers and skankazoids for the dead hipster dance party. We had a fun night at the Badlander! We checked out the Dead Hipster electronic dance party on Thursday night and especially enjoyed his opener DJ Peanut Butter. She killed it! Tasty house music without any trashy glitch. The bar itself was OK. It's a bit older, but there's plenty of space and an extra bar in the back which is nice when it's busy and you're trying to get a drink. The downside was the bathrooms. They were outdated and not very clean. The place definitely had a college-aged crowd, probably due to the music. Overall, it was your normal college dance bar experience with much better music. read more

Drinks have the most random inconsistent pricing, you could get a drink for $4.50 and your friend next to you the same exact thing for $2.50. The bathrooms are gross and small and whole bar is rundown and under maintained. The way the place is kept drinks should be dirt cheap. If they are charging a cover that night its not worth it go elsewhere. Bartenders are mostly rude with a few friendly ones. Posted drink specials only go till midnight too so beware. read more

The Badlander is a dark, dingy maze. It usually smells terrible, and sweat hangs in the air (that is when it is not completely empty, like most nights). The atmosphere is extremely off-putting, and unwelcoming. The Golden Rose is the shining star in the complex, but even it is not void of issues. The bartenders in the Rose are great, especially if you are there on a night that Claude is working. One glaring issue however, are some of the bouncers. At few of them are on a major power trip, and I have witnessed them being completely disrespectful to patrons.I don't think that referring to a female customer as a "bitch" is appropriate under any circumstance (which I have heard them say multiple times). Aside from the wretched atmosphere and the rudest bouncers in town, I would recommended NEVER going to The Badlander, UNLESS there is a band performing there that you really want to see. read more

Took my girlfriend because of music scene that sucked if they're trying to be like Seattle they're missing it buy a long shot. Bathrooms are disgustingly dirty as of most of the bar. Don't go there are far better places to hear great music in Missoula. read more
