I came to the bagel company today for the first time today and had a wonderful experience. Let me first say that it was hidden behind a tree and I had never even seen it before. I had a gift card to spend and I was ready to get some bagels for my family. So I explained I had never been there before and I was choosing bagels and adding everything up to equal the gift card value, and then I experienced the MOST amazing kindness from Kenzie, one of the girls behind the counter. When I finished, she said the total was $30.95, and I said oh no, the card was only for $25, and Kenzie said "Don't worry, I can take care of the difference", and I thought wow cool, she'll adjust the price or whatever, and I went to get some water. When I turned around I saw her pull her own card from her purse and stick it in the card machine to pay the additional $5.95!!! So I was like OMG! I didn't want you to pay for part of my purchase!! So I gave her some cash, but I was absolutely blown away by her kindness towards me by being willing to cover nearly $6 of my purchase! It was truly amazing and unbelievable, and Kenzie went above and beyond and she deserves recognition and praise for her huge heart. Not just that but I left with a dozen bagels and between me and my family, there's only 4 left by this evening. They were delicious. Also there was a nice soda machine and some cute tables to sit and eat. Good job Kenzie, and good job the Bagel Co for making great bagels, and hiring amazing people with a generous heart of Gold. I was in town for the holidays, and I recently came into the last chance location on labor day when it was packed, and i was super impressed with how exceptional the service and speed was. The bagel we had was okay - noting crazy great. I am not sure why there are reviews with gluten free options mentioned, they do NOT have gluten free options at all. I think they forgot to add the vanilla flavor to my latte, it was not sweet whatsoever. The store itself is cute, it looked like they have a separate area for events or something? Breakfast this morning at the Bagel Company, we got two bagels with cream cheese. Mom's chocolate chip with plain and my "daily special" was a spinach and parmesan with veggie. The bagels were tasty and made properly in a boiler. Sure, they're not New York bagels but they are as close as you're going to get when you're 2000 miles away from Brooklyn. It's a small place that is sharing the building with a coin laundromat. The tables are a little wobbly but the coffee is good. Round number! This is review 1100 of 2018! read more

How long does it take to toast 4 bagels and pour 2 drip coffees? 45 minutes. With zero, "Hey, sorry for the wait." (In their defense, it would require putting down one's cellphone to be able to discern that customers had been standing there for 45 minutes for a to go order. Or that there were customers in the store. Or that they were at work at all. Life is so hard.) Or maybe they are trying to do like a live theater production and the title is: "There ARE some downsides to legalizing marijuana after all... and we are the visual aid" This would explain why their priority is not to sell food. Stopped by while passing through Helena recommended by some locals. Bagels did not disappoint, they were big, flavorful, and fresh. Had various options of bagels and spreads. The service however could use improvement. All three employees looked annoyed and no one really offered help or suggestions as a first time customer. No greeting either when walking in or ordering. Took some time to get our order just because it was one person working. We ordered 4 breakfast bagels and it took at least 20 minutes. I felt bad for the guys in line just wanting coffee and bagel. Admittedly I don't go to the Bagel Co. often (gluten intolerance in the family) but decided to treat myself today. I was somewhat surprised by the staff. Young man at the counter seemed to be ready to leave (had his coat & hat on). The young girl behind the counter didn't seem to have anything to do. Maybe she was the barista whose skill wasn't needed at the moment? What surprised me the most was her attire. Pajama pants, sloppy t-shirt, messy hair (it was pulled back, but looked like it was done yesterday). The older staff member seemed pretty unhappy and I hope it was with the other staff. Casual dress is OK, but this was just too far. Casual can also be clean, neat and presentable. If frontline staff is like this, what is it like where the public can't see? This place is as good as it gets. Like their sign says "if it not boiled its not a bagel"! I'm from the North East where bagels are a stabile and you have your choice for the best bagel bakery in your neighborhood. There are fake "real" bagel places popping up all over the US now- major chains and Mom and Pop places too. The Bagel Company is not one of them! They harken back to the true roots of bagel making and let's just say you can definitely tell the difference. This Bagel Shop is a must stop anytime you're in Helena. My only complaint was this Saturday morning as busy as it was with bagel sandwiches and fancy coffees there were only two people on staff. They were very pleasant, knowledgeable and hard-working but the owner should have staffed the play more appropriately. Please go taste enjoy and spread the word. This place is fantastic. read more

The food was okay but the service was awful. I asked if I could order a bagel sandwich and the man behind the counter said "I suppose you can" He continued to be condescending to me and my boyfriend for no apparent reason and was rude to the next person in line (a 90 year old woman)as well. We ordered a small coffee which was so full it spilled all over my boyfriend's hand and burnt him. It wasn't busy at all. I have no idea why someone in the service industry would be aggressive toward people he doesn't even know. Terrible experience!!!! I hope that man leaves his job soon. read more

My fiancé and I made the decision to come here rather than the donut shop close by. We ordered a cheesy jalapeño bagel (toasted with garlic and chive cream cheese) and a garlic bagel (toasted with garlic and chive cream cheese). This came to a total of $6.75 which is a a tad more expensive than we would have liked to spend considering we were primarily planning to grab donuts. The cheesy jalapeño tasted better than the garlic bagel (toasted garlic became burnt and tasted bitter). We had bacon in the car so I sprinkled that on the bagels, and it enhanced the flavor greatly (we were coming back from camping and happened to have cooked bacon on us). Great place to stop for brunch. We purchased a breakfast bagel, 2 bagels with cream cheese and cinnamon bagel bites. The bites were hard but one we asked for them to be heated they were delicious. The coffee is amazing! The only suggestion would be to have larger (adult size) chocolate milk. Great experience. read more

I used to go here at least once a week, but have come in less frequently for the last year or so. The bagel size varies so much. Sometimes you'll get a bagel that seems to be sized appropriately, other times you might be served a bagel that's is shaped more like a tennis ball, only smaller. I'm not sure it's worth it anymore. I hate to say it but even the coffee is watered down now, and you have to ask for napkins...? Pretty disappointed to see a place like this go downhill. read more

Three tries and three fails. When you stand in line with five people of head of you and the line doesn't move for five minutes - that's a fail. When all your baskets are empty - that's a fail. When you incorrectly charge the posted price - that's a fail. I really like the product you serve, but it doesn't seem you can get the product to the customer. It's not that hard. Have been here twice and have not been disappointed. Bagels are very good, and no sandwich we have tried yet was anything but delicious. Smoothies are very tasty and I highly recommend them. Added bonus, they appear to be the only place in this state with brewed tea, a staple for a southerner like myself. They had a fruity white tea available, but the staff was happy to accommodate by brewing a hot earl grey and icing it for me. It was the only quality tea I got on that two week trip! read more

Decent bagel sandwich but was annoyed by the boss? Lady repeatedly yelling at the teen worker for messing up. That is not appropriate to berate your employees in front of customers like that. Be a decent human and have a civilized conversation with your employee that you hired in private not for the whole place to hear. read more
